Sam | 1052 comments Just found out that I have to work on shelf call day, so I may not be here for shelf call, but I'll post that evening with my book. It's going to be sad to miss my very first shelf call, but I need the job to pay for my book addiction so I'm stuck.

Natalie | 549 comments I'm also tracking on the first page, but above is what we have so far. I will be holding off on my picks for now. I have a challenge right now that is almost done, but I need to be reading for it. Hopefully something I pick up will work for this as well.

message 68: by Sam (new)

Sam | 1052 comments Looks like I will be reading Angels' Blood- Nalini Singh. I've heard good things about this series.

message 72: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am on the app now so I can't insert a book link - but earlier in this thread I posted my free space book. :) it is the Eileen Wilks Mind Magic (#12 World of the Lupi).

Anyone see if Feversong (#9) by Moning is on this shelf?

The last fever book I saw was number 7. Sorry.

message 74: by Sam (new)

Sam | 1052 comments LOL I'm so bad. I was reading all the other teams' threads and their choices and options. I have now added two more books to my TBR list. At this rate, my list will be a lot longer after this game than it was before the game.

message 75: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25911 comments Sadly that is always the case Sam :)

Sorry, it's not. Probably since it's a new release. You can check shelves easily (if you're on a computer) using this method:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

A book for my other challenge is listed as hunters so I have one book picked out :)

message 77: by Sam (new)

Sam | 1052 comments Sandra wrote: "Sadly that is always the case Sam :)"

I'm seeing that. At this rate I'll never get caught up on my TBR, but I guess I don't really want to because that would mean I had nothing left to read.

message 78: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25911 comments Yep, that about sums it up Sam. LOL

message 79: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 549 comments Week 1: Hunters
Book: Eternal Kiss of Darkness
How it works: Shelved as Hunters one time
Date Read: 1/19
Rating: 3.5/5

Review:
I have a thing about reading books in the correct order (which I always default to published) so I've put off continuing NH series until I read the two NH World Books. Which took me a while since they never fit anywhere and I just wasn't as interested.

This book focuses on Mencheres, an ancient Egyptian vampire, and Kira a PI who runs into him being attacked one night. Add in an attraction between the two and a long standing feud and you get this book. Overall I enjoyed it, but I didn't like it as much as the NH books and I'm really excited to get back to them.

message 80: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Thanks for the tip. I am having a really hard time. Most of the series on this shelf I have either finished or decided not to read. There are so many books that involve hunters which are not on this shelf!

I am thinking:

The Beast (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #14) by J.R. Ward End of Days (Penryn and the End of Days, #3) by Susan Ee

message 81: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25911 comments It all comes down to readers putting them on the shelves, sadly they don't always do what you'd expect.

message 82: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Yes definitely. Hunter may not be something people think of even though it is what the character is doing.

message 83: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25911 comments Yep. I don't have a Hunter shelf, but I do have a Warrior shelf, though I don't always put my warriors on it either.

message 84: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 549 comments I think because it's a new book, it won't be shelved by people for a bit. This is the beginning of the game so it'll be at least a month or two until we will actually need it. I'd be fine if you wanted to put it on hold and see if it changes.

Both your choices are good though. I read The Beast for the hunter shelf last round :)

message 85: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Ha -- that is funny! :)

I am going to read the Beast by Ward. :) I DNFed the King and am skipping ahead b/c I hated the Shadow story lines, I figure if anyone can woo me back to the brothers its Rhage. :)

I am on a red eye to London, heading to the airport now.

Sam | 1052 comments Dragon Spawn (World of the Lupi, #13) by Eileen Wilks
Book: Dragon Spawn- Eileen Wilks
Shelf: Free Space
How it fits: World of the Lupi is #32 on the Best of Urban Fantasy series list.
Date read: 1/20/17
Rating: 4 stars

Review: I always love Eileen Wilks' books. This one was no exception. The war with the Great Bitch is heating up and she is making moves. Rule and Lily must take steps to stop her. The ending was a killer- I hate cliffhangers, especially when I have to wait a year to find out what happens. Looking forward to continuing this series.

Enjoy your flight! Just to give you a heads up, JR Ward is doing a spinoff series from BDB, called Black Dagger Brotherhood Legacy and the new one (Blood Vow) features Mary and Rhage and directly follows their storyline from The Beast.

Sam | 1052 comments Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh
Book: Angels' Blood- Nalini Singh
Shelf: Hunters
How it fits: page 1 of hunters shelf
Date read: 1/21/17
Rating: 4 stars

This is my first Nalini Singh book, but it won't be my last. I greatly enjoyed this book. Angels make vampires, who then serve them for 100 years. But sometimes, the vampires decide that they are tired of serving angels and run away. Elena is a vampire hunter; she tracks down the runaway vampires and returns them to the angels. Manhattan is controlled by Archangel Raphael, who hires Elena for a special hunt. I liked both Elena and Raphael and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

Sam | 1052 comments OK, I'm all caught up. Is it shelf time yet?

message 90: by Katie (new)

Katie That's your first Nalini Singh, Sam?!? You've GOT to check out the Psy-Changeling series. Slave to Sensation

message 91: by Sam (new)

Sam | 1052 comments I am really torn. The 11th Charley Davidson book comes out tomorrow and I really want to read it. But then I wonder, what if it would have worked for the next shelf called? It's only 24 hours, surely I can wait that long? Then I wonder what I'm going to read tomorrow in place of Charley, with it sitting there on my kindle, calling my name. Ugh. Decisions.

message 97: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I finished my book The Beast (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #14) by J.R. Ward , I will be back with a review later today.

The time difference and change going form Chicago to London in a short time is killing me. I still haven't adjusted. Love London, but traveling for works sucks and I can't wait to be back in Chicago tomorrow.

I will be in the air when the shelf posts and oddly, my flight out here did not have wifi. If that happens on my return, I likely won't be back online (b/c adjusting back to Chicago time, seeing my family) until Thursday. I am hoping for in-flight wifi!

Wait! I have been burned with this decision so many times.

message 99: by Sam (new)

Sam | 1052 comments I decided to go ahead and read it since it is a new release and is less likely to be on any of the shelves. It is much more likely that whatever book I picked to read instead would be on a shelf. Besides, I'm impatient to see more Charley and Reyes.

message 100: by Sam (new)

Sam | 1052 comments Yay, it's shelf day!!!
