and i have a question about the "read a book for the first time" task. wouldn't every new book be under that task? or am i misunderstanding what you mean by that one?
Brindi wrote: "and i have a question about the "read a book for the first time" task. wouldn't every new book be under that task? or am i misunderstanding what you mean by that one?"New release books would indeed be under that task, but what if, say your mom, hands you a book that she loved 10 years ago and kept a copy of and wants you to read it? That book isn't a new book, but an old one that you've never encountered. It's "New to You" and it's those "New to You" books that I'm looking to include with that specific task. I hope that makes sense and clarifies it for you!

Question: while looking at this list, there's going to be books that I read next month that will fit multiple categories. For example, I'm going to read The Way of Kings next month. It's the first in a series, first on my TBR pile, a book I'm reading for the first time, a book that was recommended to me, and I'll probably rate it more than one star. Do I just pick one category for the book to fit under and use a different book for other categories? Or do I put this book for every category that it fits? What about books I read after The Way of Kings? For example, I'm going to read The Way of Kings and let's say I use it for first book I rated about 1 star this month. Then I read Dune and I also rate it more than one star. Does it automatically not qualify for above 1 star or could I move books around so they can fit in whatever category they can?
I realize that was WAY more than one question and I'm probably overthinking it, but I'm curious so I can keep myself accountable :)

Do I just pick one category for the book to fit under and use a different book for other categories? You can move books around as needed, but again, you can only use one book per task. So, say for example you use The Way of Kings for "Rated above 1 star" and then you use Dune for "First book in a series", then you read Jane Austen's Persuasion, and the only place it will fit would be "Rated above 1 star". You are absolutely allowed to remove The Way of Kings from "Rated above 1 star" and use it in "First book in a series", and use Dune for something else. (Just looking at Dune made me realize that it will fit in another category not listed: A book published on the first of the month in any month! I plan on adding that to the list, so feel free to use it!) Nothing is set in stone about this, so feel free to move around your "book puzzle pieces" as needed!
I hope that answers your questions a bit!
Participants, Make sure you check the first post of the challenge for some clarifications and additional tasks!

This challenge is a celebration of the number of the month. There will be no levels and no page requirements, and the idea is to mix and match among the prompts for as many as your books will fit. However, a book may only be used for one prompt at a time, not multiple prompts! Duration will be from January 1st to January 31st, 2017.
Your challenge is to read as many books as you can that correspond to these listed prompts. If you can come up with additional ones that fit the theme of the month, let us all know! Here are the prompts:
