Dwayne Fry - Fifty PLUS Free eBooks!
That's fantastic! Congrats on the sales! As far as I'm concerned, any blips on that newfangled graph are worth celebrating.
I'm kinda funny when I work on books. Like many authors, I like to image "what if" my book were made into a movie. But, I don't think much about what famous actors would play the parts. I'm more interested in what would go into the soundtrack.
Here is my official unofficial soundtrack to Suckers & Rogues:
The Chain - Fleetwood Mac
Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling Stones
Jackie Wilson Said – Dexys Midnight Runners
Rain Dance – Big Country
Slam The Hammer Down - Slade
The End - The Doors
Fortunate Son - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Run Through The Jungle - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
Do You Really Want to Hurt Me - Culture Club
Tusk - Fleetwood Mac
Badlands - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
Let’s Pretend We’re Married – Prince & The Revolution
Rock And Roll Is King – Electric Light Orchestra
Jocko Homo - Devo
Talkin’ Back – The Gap Band
Friend or Foe – Adam Ant
Doubleplusgood – Eurythmics
Piss On The Wall - J. Geils Band
You Took The Words Right Out of My Mouth - Meat Loaf
Wonderland - Big Country
We Will Rock You - Queen
Hot For Teacher - Van Halen
She Bop - Cyndi Lauper
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Mean To Me - Billie Holiday
All The Children - Stanley Jordan
Born In the USA - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

No Surrender - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
It’s A Heartache - Bonnie Tyler

Thanks, Alex. Some of them were never released as singles, so unless you've heard the album, you probably won't recognize them. But, they were damned good songs.

I still am! They have really stood the test of time better than most of the stuff I liked in high school.

Hey guys. I could use some help. This is easy! I swear!
The end is in sight for Suckers & Rogues so I am thinking about my next project. I have some ideas in my head. I was rummaging through some images the other day and I found one I think will work as a good cover for this book, but I'm not sure. I do love the picture!
So, could you clicky on the linky and tell me what genre you think this would fall into? Thanxabunch.

Ooooh... this could fit a number of genres, Dwayne. Post apocalyptic, young adult... When I look at it, I feel sad, lonely, even haunted. Don't go by me. I'm a rather odd duck. Sorry if I blew it for you. Congratulations on wrapping up your current project. Hugs
Well, the wrap up may be months away, yet, but I am seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel. I'm fairly happy with the first half of the book. The second half needs some work. None of the betas have screamed at me that I need to burn the book and never let another soul see it, yet. So, it's going well.
And there is no wrong answer, Sam. I'm not sure the photo fits the genre I'm going for. And I'm going to be a brat and not give a clue as to how close or far you were in your guess. Not yet.
*grin*

You're not being a brat at all. It's totally subjective. It could be snow or it could be a nuclear explosion. What do I know? Hugs
That photo makes me think of John Carpenter's "The Thing" (and its highly underrated prequel), so I say bleak, suspenseful horror. Maybe with a small group, or maybe just one, singular character.
Interesting. I see chick lit, coming of age, or YA. I don't see dystopian at all. I'm guessing font and effects could easily change that, but it's a perfect composition for cover with all that space for a title.
The white space is what I like best about it.
This picture (view spoiler) is my second favorite. But, working the title into those trees... it can be done, I know, but I may be too lazy to do it properly.
Thank you, Christina!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I see YA.
If I look and see snow, I think Holidays. If I see it as ashes instead, then I think Apocalypse.
It's hard to see what she is wearing. At first, I thought it was a hoody, thus the YA but the more I look the more I think it could be an old dress. With the hair and all, maybe historic? (Sorry thinking Laura Ingalls here.)
Sorry can't think of anything else. :(

Oh I just saw the second picture. I guess that yes it would be more difficult but the snow and all makes it so magical. :)
Thank you, Jane! I agree... it works. I really love it.
I'll be heading back to work soon. I think I'll have a BIG REVEAL at that point what genre(s) I'm going for. Some of you have come kinda close, but no one has gotten it. But, yeah. I just might use one of these pictures anyway.

The story I'm thinking about is a paranormal / romance / thriller. I was afraid that the photos I liked weren't going to fit that genre and it seems I may be right. But, I really like them... argh...
Piggybacking into Jane's Psst: since you're again a mod in the main group, I re-modded you here. Terribly sorry bout that.

Hey Jane, my favorite beta reader... I'm about to head out and do some errands, but I will check your thread tonight.

Hey Christina, my favorite beta reader... That's perfectly fine. I didn't ask about modding this group, as there's not nearly so many problems, but it's cool. I am willing to mod both groups again.

I got to meet our Supreme Overlord the other day. One day when we're both best selling authors, this photo will be priceless.

Well... no promises made, but I spoke to a cousin of mine who lives "north of Dallas" and told him we might make the trek down there some time. So, you might be next. Or, y'know, we could both invade Ann at the same time...

Sweet! I'll be on the lookout for restaurants in my area that cater to both vegan and cannibal diets!
Thank you Marie!
Christina,
Those apple trees in the Wizard of Oz with people faces... those might satisfy both our appetites. Or, OH, the Veggie Tales characters!
Sam! Hi!
Hugs, yes. I already have all her books (have not read them all, but I have them). No autographs. We talked a little about SIA business, a tiny bit about the novel I'm working on (she's been beta reading for me), about food, travel, family, cats... good stuff!

Mister Dwayne Fry. This is your favourite beta reader with a cheeky idea.On our blog we have something called the Weekend wind down which is a longer story we put out on a Saturday.
Happy Clownburger?
Hey Jane,
I will be submitting something, hopefully soon. Life got a bit off-kilter there for a few days, taking me away from the writing and everything. I'm working at getting back on track.

The long drives across the plains, the finding our dogs were dognapped (we have them now) and feeling ill for two days were the unpleasant parts. But, there were some lovely moments. Even the funeral was pleasant.

Glad you have your dogs back. I think I might seriously damage anyone who touched Dog. And I hope you are feeling well now.
I'm feeling better. Thanks Jane!
Thank you Angel and Nat! I can't vouch for Ann, but I was sure delighted to meet her.

I have the best betas EVER!
They know who they are, but not how much I appreciate each and every one of them. Some are a third of the way through my long, long novel and have yet to say, "Oh, my God when will this END?"

I'm just thrilled. I knew the way I was structuring this was different from most books - the real plots are, in my mind, almost invisible and covered by the many, many little petty dramas of the various characters. I wasn't sure how that would fly, but everyone seems to be enjoying it.
I don't like to sound needy and I don't like to think I am, but right now... I'm in need.
Suckers & Rogues is coming along nicely. I'm doing some heavy editing in the second half while the betas move along in the first half. So far, most of the feedback has been positive. And I'm still excited about this book and cannot wait for it to be done.
But...
My mind is already on the next big project. I'm trying to put it aside for now, but the excitement over it is increasing daily. I had a lot of ideas bopping around for a while there, but I've settled on something I think will be a joy to write, but it will take a ton of research. And that's the problem. When I'm working on Suckers & Rogues I keep wishing I was researching the other novel. Normally I tell people to just work on the project they're feeling most passionate about, but I'm too deep into Suckers & Rogues. I can't put it aside. Not yet.
HELP!

There is no such thing as a small number when it comes to sale. I sale is a sale and if it comes in more than one, it's fantastic. :)
