Steph | 29 comments Mine would have to be The Nightingale and We Are The Ants; I can't pick just one.

message 2: by Tecla (new)

Tecla I can't pick one. I truly can't.

A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir,

Ok I'm done. I have more but those stand out.

Jas (bookishjas) I can't pick just one.
But I'm going to have to say all of the Sarah J Maas books (so both ACOTAR and Throne of Glass series) . It was my first time reading them and I fell in love with each and every character and I'm also not mentally, physically and emotionally prepared for the finale of both series

How did you find The Luckiest Girl Alive as a reader? I'm on the fence about reading this book.

Hi Latanya, I loved it because it was raw, shocking, well written and interesting. The main character, Ani felt like someone I may have known. As disturbing as parts of the book were, I felt like young women could actually benefit by reading a book like this because it demonstrates in a very realistic way, what can happen when they try to fit in, try to please other people other than oneself. I really did enjoy this book and I read it because it was featured at my local library by one of the twenty-something library workers. I hope you read it and would love to know what you think. Why on the fence? :)

Hi, Jill! Thanks for responding. Reading reviews (not all, but some) worried me. But, I had to realize that some story topics do not appeal to everyone, which muddles the reviews. I'll read the book because I really do, but I didn't want to invest, if the story wasn't worth the time. Mind if I add you as a friend?

I understand. I too, heard mixed reviews but from the moment I started reading it, I found it hard to put down. It was one of those books that sort of stays with me. For example, I saw you read "Before I go to Sleep" which I really liked but for some reason couldn't recall the plot immediately. Luckiest Girl Alive? I remembered that one!

message 50: by Bethany (new)

Bethany (bhhhh4) Salt to the Sea - Ruta Sepetys
The Scorpio Races - Maggie Stiefvater
The Art of Racing in the Rain - Garth Stein

I had quite a few five-star books for this year but I think these would be my favourites if I had to narrow it down. :)
