“By night, Love, tie your heart to mine, and the two together in their sleep will defeat the darkness.”
- Pablo Neruda, from 100 Love Sonnets

I can’t remember the first time I encountered that poem, though I’m certain it was in high school — and I’m equally certain I was overcome with the same exquisite heartache that fills me even now after decades of reading that line, that poem, all his poems. It is, to me, the perfect expression of how I feel about love: that love is a bond, that love does battle, that love overcomes. I’ve held that line, that entire volume of poetry, close to my heart. I reach to it, always, for inspiration. (less)

Entertainment Weekly! A Hardcover Release!

A bit of good (and unexpected) news.  Monstress was named Best Comic of 2018 in Entertainment Weekly, which was a lovely surprise. Team Monstress is deeply grateful for that honor.

Also, Image just released the cover image for next year’s hardcover deluxe edition, which will compile Vol 1-3.  Clocking in at over 500 pages, we’ll include never-before-seen art and other goodies. Expect that to

Rick Barnett What a delight! I just Flickr'd through your tours of the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the SciFi Cafe and your author signings...Stan Lee has got to be the most benevolent institution on this or any alternate earth.

Thank you, Marjorie, for accepting my friendship offer. I notice you're reading THE PASSAGE; not your ordinary vampire tale, is it? But I suppose a story about a dismal future is appropriate for this somber day.

Give Daisy a hug and take good care. Neither of my cats, Kelly or Priscilla, are enthusiastic travel companions or fans of tight embraces. They are content to add their brand of fe-line editing to this note..and everything else I write.

(Who's interested in supper? A show of paws?)
