Kristie | 3595 comments I have an excerpt from Windwitch to review, but only one page is printed. The rest are blank. I'm not sure what the issue is. I tried restarting my Kindle and re-downloading the book. Neither helped. I just sent a message to the publisher stating that I would get a copy through my library after publication and write the review then.

So far, this NetGalley month has not panned out: 3 removed, 1 DNF, 1 blank copy, and I added one, which turned out to be not available on Kindle, only protected pdf. Hmm...hopefully the next will be better.

edit: I just realized that the excerpt is also available as a protected pdf, so I can probably get it on my old laptop, but to be honest, I'd probably rather just wait for the library and read a physical book. I'm first hold anyway.

Hi Jennifer! NetGalley is a site that offers free ebooks for review. The shelf is similar to your to-read shelf on Goodreads. It is the books that you have been approved for that you need to read and review. So, your NetGalley shelf is on the NetGalley site.

Great tip! I vaguely remembered some of them because when I hadn't been approved in time I had read them either on my Kobo or through the library for group botm's, challenges, etc., but there weren't very memorable because I had to to back to my shelves to remember anything, lol. The only really good one I can remember is the Return by Jason Mott.

I'm using the Kindle app on my phone and squinting a lot. I really need to buy a Kindle. I have a Kobo e-reader but Kindle's ability to post reviews to both Amazon and Goodreads at the same time have really spoiled me. I absolutely love the Kobo Tablet I had before and could read Kindle books through the Kindle App on it as well as Kobo books. I was trying to support our book industry up here.

On very good news, I got approved for another book! The List by Patricia Forde Really happy to get approved for this one!
Off to download it right now (via Kindle) :-)

Lol!
No more requests until you publicly display the number of books on your netgalley shelf ;)

message 64: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Hahah.

There's actually quite a few that I'm biting my nails in hopes of receiving.

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1) by Laini Taylor Our Own Private Universe by Robin Talley Growing Pains (Toronto Connections, #3) by Cass Lennox Wayfarer (Passenger, #2) by Alexandra Bracken

Did get approved for The Edge of the Abyss (The Abyss Surrounds Us, #2) by Emily Skrutskie this morning, though! :)

message 65: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I saw that Strange the Dreamer was available for Australia (You get all the best books! lol), but not in the US, so I checked out my library and they have it on order. I should be able to get a copy not long after it is released. I hate to admit it, but this may be my first book by Laini Taylor. I never got around to Daughter of Smoke and Bone, which has been on my TBR forever.

I've been doing well not requesting. The last one I requested I got specifically for another challenge. Now, I'm avoiding looking until I catch up a bit more.

Lol
I was trying to get to 100% and I had only one book left on my shelf so was at 99%... then Christmas came along and I opened up NetGalley and may have done some requesting... and now I have 7 books on my shelf. Haha
