NetGalley

Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge

Duration: Monthly

How to Participate:

The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.

Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.

1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is

2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio

Then start a new post for the next month!

But Wait, There's More

Do you ever get so caught up in your reading that you don't want to stop to write your reviews?

Thinking about that, it was decided we need a "Review Weekend", once each month, set aside to write those reviews you've been not doing in favor of reading!

Review Weekends will vary randomly each month and is meant to be a time set aside to review. Take one, or both days and get caught up on reviews so you can spend the rest of the month reading!!

The next Review Weekend is set for January 14/15

**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!

Smart, I need to get on that. But you know what. I have some really OLD ones that got archived. Twelve to be exact. I'm going to work on those over the this next year to get them off my shelf too. Maybe do one a month or something. I'd like to be able to get my average up.

Elisha (bookjunkiemom) | 2 comments I'm a bit ashamed at my NG TBR (About 120 on my shelf...LOL...), but it is my...shall I say new years resolution...to get to my NG TBR..so a book from my NG TBR that I plan to read this month is The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel. I figure I'll start with one NG off of my NG TBR at the moment since I have other review commitments as well as life happenings but, if I find I can do more than one a month at a time, great!

My Feedback Ratio is 4% so this challenge will really help meto tackle both my feedback ratio and my NG Shelf.

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments Happy 2017 everyone.

This year one of my new year's resolutions is to finally reach that elusive 80% feedback ratio (and to stop hitting that request button so much...well maybe)

As my resolutions typically only last a day or two I thought I'd better make a start so I've posted my first review for The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr so I'm now at 72% :) Only 8% (around 9 books) to go.

Kristie | 3595 comments I had a bit of time today and decided to clean up my NetGalley a bit. I removed 3 books from my shelf that had been there for about a year with apologies to the publishers and sent in my review for my DNF book. I still have two more books that have been on there a long time, also about a year, but I hope to read them soon.

My goal is to review four more this month. This is a catch up month for me with NetGalley, since I had no reviews last month.

Although seeing how many books some of you have, I probably shouldn't feel too guilty :-). Anyway, I'm going to try and clear them so I can go and request more with a clear conscience.

Ashley M (read-a-hol-ic) | 762 comments Ahem... An author asked me a while ago to give an honest review to a graphic novel of his because I like them and review them a lot. He took so long in gifting me the Kindle version, that I just bought it myself because it starts with a Q. I was kind of annoyed that he took so long and I didn't have to buy it after all, but now I have a gift claim code and I see that two of you have rated graphic novels before.

Nancy Helen and Kristie, since I see rated graphic novels on both of your shelves, I thought I would give you first stab at the gift code.
Nicole, I couldn't see all of your bookshelves for some reason even though you are my friend. If you do read graphic novels this one is up for you too.
I only want one thing from this. The author asked for an honest review for his graphic novel with the gift.
The book is called Quantum Vibe: Venus 23 by Scott Bieser.
I just thought that the NetGalley challenge would be the best place to ask this of anyone. If you are interested, you can PM me and I'll send you the gift code to read on your Kindle. You will need a Kindle Fire to get the full experience of the graphic novel out of it. If any of you aren't interested please tell me anyone you know of who likes to read and review graphic novels.
Thank you. :)

Kristie | 3595 comments I just added another book to my list. I picked up Every Body Yoga Let Go of Fear. Get On the Mat. Love Your Body. by Jessamyn Stanley . Unfortunately, it is a protected pdf and I can't get it on my Kindle. I wish they'd tell you beforehand when that's the situation. I can't stand reading on my old laptop.

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments I just went back onto my netgalley page; hadn't been there in ages. All books (6 past) are now archived and I can't seem to get to them. So.... I started requesting new ones, lol. I got approved for one right away ~ yay!, but I probably won't get to it to next month because I'm already booked up for reads scheduled this month and I have been sick and not reading anything the last few days.

My new book on my shelf is: The Case of the Green-Dressed Ghost by Lucy Banks - gorgeous cover! :-)

I started off at 2 % and now am up to 33 %!! No idea how I did that??, lol. I only submitted 4 ratings / opinions but no reviews because they had been archived and frankly I can't remember much about most of those 6 that were archived.

So...very start of the month was this

Start of month:
Books on shelf: 0
Feedback Ratio: 2%

End of Month:
Books on shelf:
Feedback Ratio:%

Steven was reading The Bear and The Nightingale and really enjoying it!

(I can't add more books.... I just got back from my reading slump, I need to have care not to pressure myself to avoid stop reading again)

message 47: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Cathie - That is pretty cover! And it sounds interesting too. I'll be interested to see what you think of it. Also, your rating goes up as long as you submit anything, whether it is a review, or just a rating or opinion. One hint for you is to download the book as soon as you're approved so it won't disappear on you. Once you download it (assuming it's to a Kindle and not a protected pdf), it's yours forever.

Sonia - Glad your slump is over. I completely understand not putting pressure on yourself. I'm in a bit of a slump myself where I'm busy and just not really interested in picking up books, even though I'm enjoying the ones I'm reading.

I'm also interested in The Bear and The Nightingale. I've been hearing good things about it and will look forward to reading your thoughts, Karen.

message 48: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments The downloading as soon as possible is a good tip. So is the kindle format. My first downloadings were protected pdf format... not a nice surprise when I found out about time limit..

On the other hand, I was really happy to discover that the kindle app for android was as good as having a kindle, so, no more problems in that font.

Now, if only amazon decided that shipping kindle paperwhite to Portugal was a good idea :D
