Cooper hadn't really expected Luca to answer. He took in a sharp breath when he heard the revived pick up. "I..." he started but his voice betrayed him. He sighed, took a deep breath, then tried again, "I had one of those night terrors I get. You know, the ones that feel real when I wake up? I just... Needed someone to talk to. I'm sorry for calling so lat."

Luca sighed softly when he realized it was Cooper, he closed his eyes for a minute as he listened to his friend talk, he opened his eyes and stared back at the ceiling, " I don't care that you called me this late, talk to me all night, I don't care," Luca said softly, hoping Cooper heard him. Luca knew that Night Terrors were not good things that happened to people, he sighed as he waited for Cooper to talk.
"She was stabbing me," Cooper stated. He looked to the bright red slices across his skin. "Shoving that knife in and dragging it down. It felt so real. When I woke up I could hardly breath, I really thought she was stabbing me. I stared clawing at my chest and I didn't even know I was doing it until I calmed down enough. Which is miracle since I'm by myself," he continued. "It still hurts. Not the scratches. It still feels like I have a knife wedged between my ribs.
Luca shot up out of bed when he heard Copper begin to tell him the dream, he sat up against the headboard and sighed softly, " Oh Cooper," Luca murmured as his friend finished telling the story. Luca felt like the world was just dropped onto his shoulders, the memory of the previous few hours ago made Luca just want to crawl under a rock and die, he closed his eyes. " Poppy can't hurt you anymore, now while I'm around, not while my dad is around, everyone that knows you will always keep you safe, I will always be there to protect you Cooper, always," Luca murmured.
"Thanks Luc," Cooper responded. He retired from the bathroom and went back to laying on his bed. "I'm not worry about her getting me. It was just a dream. Not real life no matter how realistic it seems," he continued. He closed his eyes, letting his free arm lay across his stomach. "Is what I did to her bad? I feel bad," he said quietly.
Luca sighed. " What you did was not wrong, you were only teasing her and she took it personal," Luca replied, " What happened was not your fault, you shouldn't feel bad for what happened," Luca added as he looked at a wall, his eyes closing slowly.
"I'm not talking about the teasing. I'm talking about the pepper spray and tackling," Cooper responded. He moved his arm up and ran a hand through his already messy hair. He was quiet for a long while, biting his lip as he thought. "I'm sorry, Luca," he said softly.
Luca opens his eyes, " Still none of it is your fault, she's a psychopath who is a gigantic homophobe," Luca said softly, he pushed himself off his bed and started getting dressed, he needed some air. Luca stopped pulling on his shoes when he heard Cooper apologize, he sighed softly, " I'm sorry too," Luca murmured as he slipped on his other shoe and headed downstairs, grabbing the car keys on his way out. The phone still pressed against his ear.
Cooper once again fell into silence. Fear rose in his body, making his chest hurt worse. "You can't leave me Luca," he whispered, not even sure if his friend could hear him. "You're all I've got you cant leave me I can't be alone if I'm alone I'll die," he said a bit hysterically this time and meant it quite literally.
" I won't leave you Cooper," Luca said as he got into his mothers car, he buckled up, " Cooper, make sure your door is unlocked," Luca mumbled, he didn't think they both should be alone right now not when the fear of losing each other was thicker then the air they breathed. Luca started the car, his mother appeared in the doorway of the house, he looked at her and then drove out of the driveway.
Cooper pulled himself off of the warmth of his covers. He wiped at his eyes as he took the stairs in twos. He unlocked the door then slipped back up to his room, getting under the covers again but he left his wounded chest exposed to the air.
Luca kept his phone pressed to his ear, expertly driving to Cooper's with one hand on the wheel, he just needed to hear the sound of Coopers breathing and that was what was keeping him calm at the moment, he sighed softly suddenly and said something that he knew he said in the past, " You know I love you right Cooper?" Luca said softly.
"I know," Coop murmured. He curled up on his side, sniffling a few times before adding, "I love you too." Though in his mind he didn't know if it was the friend way or the more than friend way. A lot of feelings had been stirred up in him today and now he was confused about everything.
" Good," Luca murmured as he continued driving, after passing ten different lights, he finally pulled into Cooper's driveway and shut the car off before getting out of the car, he put his keys into his back pocket and walked over to the front door, he sighed before walking in and closing the door after him. He turned his phone off and locked the door, heading slowly up to Cooper's room, he managed to reach the room without wanting to run back to his car and go back home, he stood in the doorway of Cooper's room.
Cooper heard Luca downstairs. When he heard footsteps approaching he sat up, setting his phone on the night stand. Upon seeing Luca's face he pulled himself out of bed and took tentative steps forward until he was just inches away. "Can I hug you now?" he whispered. Now he needed it but didn't want to touch his friend if he didn't want it.
Luca didn't answer, he just grabbed Cooper by the waist and pulled him close, he hugged his friend tightly as he buried his face in Cooper's shoulder, he felt so much better now. Luca closed his eyes and tried to think of good memories so that he didn't cry right now.
((Can I go off plot? I want Cooper to kiss him now.))
Cooper hugged Luca back, tightly. He felt so much better with the presence of his best friend. It seemed like all of the uncertainty and the thoughts he wouldn't let himself think became clear. He pulled back and looked down at Luca with glassy eyes. His hand came up and sat on his cheek, thumb brushing against the cheekbone gently a few times. His bright blue eyes looked his friends features over, ending on a flicker to his lips. Before he really even knew what he was doing he had gently pressed his lips to Luca's. This kiss was much different than the first one. This one was more tender and loving. Because now it was clear, Luca wasn't just his friend.
Luca was glad Cooper hugged him back, because if his friend hadn't then he didn't know how he would feel, he felt Cooper pull back a little and he looked up at Cooper as soon as he felt Cooper look at him, he bit his lip gently as he felt Cooper's thumb on his cheek, he leaned into the touch and then his eyes widened when Cooper kissed him. Luca didn't know what to do, but after he grew accustomed to the kiss he relaxed and kissed Cooper back, his eyes closing, perhaps now, after the kiss of course, Luca could finally tell Cooper how he feels about him, Luca snaked his arms up Cooper's chest and wrapped them around Copper's neck.
Cooper was scared shitless when Luca didn't kiss back at first. He was terrified that he was going to get rejected and he didn't need that right now. Not in the slightest bit. His body had stiffened but he instantly relaxed when Luca returned the kiss. His closed eyes tightened a second when his hands went up his chest but he moved his free hand to Luca's waist, pulling him closer. After a few more moments he pulled away and let his eyes slowly flutter open.
Luca felt Cooper stiffen when he didn't kiss him back, but he then felt Cooper relax once he kissed him back, Luca's eyes fluttered closed and he felt Cooper tense when he touched his chest, yet he tossed the thought aside when Cooper put a hand to his waist, pulling him closer. The kiss felt loving and tender, the kind of kiss Luca needed most, he felt Cooper pull away and he pressed his forehead against Cooper's. "Let me see how bad the scratches are on your chest," Luca murmured as he pulled away completely.
Cooper nodded. He let Luca look him over since he already didn't have a shirt on. He could see that they had started to bleed again. "I didn't even know what I was doing until I came to," he said softly. The bright red angry marks went in all sorts of directions but mostly diagonally down his chest. Much like Poppy's stabbing movements had been in his night terror.
Luca looked at the scratches, he winced at the sight of them, he closed his eyes and looked away for a minute before looking back at the scratches, " Let's get them cleaned off, do you have rubbing alcohol anywhere and gauze?" Luca said to Cooper.
Cooper nodded. He took Luca to the bathroom where he had started cleaning them but stopped previously. He grabbed the things he'd requested and set them on the counter top. He was tired and he was sure it showed. The darkened circles under his eyes were telltale sign but even now his lids were droopy. It was more than just being tired though. He was physically and mentally exhausted. It had been a crazy couple of days. And if one more thing happened he wasn't sure he'd be able to hold it together.
Luca followed Cooper and sighed softly, he smiled lightly, " Hop onto the counter Coop," Luca murmured softly as he turned on the tap water, he didn't think using soap would help wash the scratches but they needed to be cleaned before he did anything else with them. Luca rolled up his shirt sleeves and ran a hand through his black hair, the wrist he had cut up was still bandaged even though if he had been sober he would have taken the bandage off, but he hadn't, because in his delirious drunken state he didn't care. Luca still was a bit drunk, but he was sober enough to know what he was doing.
Cooper's bright eyes followed all of Luca's movements. They went up to his face and tried to read his thoughts and emotions. "How are you feeling?" he asked, deciding that trying to decode the answer when he could just ask wasn't the most efficient way.
Luca looks at Cooper, " Still a bit drunk, but sober enough to know what I've been doing," Luca replied as he got a wash cloth and got it wet and then put some soap on it and then he looked up at Cooper, " It's going to sting baby," Luca murmured as he gently began washing the scratches on Cooper's chest.
Cooper hissed when the cloth touched his skin. His fingers curled around the edge of the counter tightly but eventually the stinging went away. "Thanks," he murmured, looking up to Luca with a small, appreciative smile.
Luca smiled softly, " You're welcome Cooper," Luca said as he continued to wash them until all the blood was washed away, he bit his lip for a moment and then grabbed the rubbing alcohol and a new cloth, " This is going to hurt way worse, feel free to squeeze my sides or shoulder if it hurts too much," Luca said as he poured some rubbing alcohol on the cloth and then held it just a few inches away from Cooper's chest, " Ready?" Luca asked softly, one hand on Cooper's knee.
"I mean not really," Cooper responded. "But I'm as ready as I'll ever be," he added. He knew it was going to hurt worse. He guessed if he did it to himself the after pain was his fault as well, even though it had been unintentional.
Luca visibly winced at the thought of what was about to happen and the thought of knowing he would be the cause of it made his heart stop beating for a fraction of a second. Luca sighed and shook his head, he tentatively pressed the cloth to one of the scratches, dabbing at them gently with the rubbing alcohol covered tip of cloth.
"Ah fuck," Cooper spoke. He squeezed his eyes shut and let his head fall back as he bit his lip harshly. Though not hard enough to make it bleed. His fingers squeezed the table top until they turned white.
" Who knew that you could know of such a word," Luca murmured, trying to lighten the mood as he lightly kissed Cooper's shoulder, trying to be of help to relax him a bit. Luca continued his task, " Its better if you squeeze my shoulder Cooper, that way you don't hurt your hand on the counter edge," Luca suggested.
Cooper chuckled at Luca's comment. "Luca I don't want to do that I'll hurt you," he said through his clenched teeth. Though his fingers were starting to hurt. He moved a hand to Luca shoulder but didn't squeeze it as hard as he had the counter top.
" Cooper, you could never hurt me, bruise me maybe, but not hurt me, at least not on purpose," Luca replied as he poured a bit more rubbing alcohol on the cloth and pressing the tip of the cloth to the scratches one by one. Luca felt Cooper's hand on his shoulder and kept his gaze focused on Cooper's chest, after a few more dabs he grabbed the gauze and started wrapping Cooper's chest with it, making sure to cover all the scratches.
Cooper sighed in relief when the hard part was over with. "Ah thank goodness," he had murmured under his breath. "Let's hope I don't do that again," he added afterwards. The stinging after the initially scratching had hurt but not as bad as the rubbing alcohol.
Luca sighed, " Hopefully I'll be here more often to make sure you don't do it ever again," Luca replied as he looked up at Cooper, smiling softly as he tilted his head to the side to look at his best find lovingly. Luca then remembered something, " Uh...Cooper, can I tell you something?" Luca asked softly.
Cooper nodded. "Mmmhmm. Go for it," he said. He gave a small smile and put his arm out and around Luca's waist, pulling him closer before retracting his arm. "Talk to me," he added after a moment, this time a goofy smile took place on his lips.
" I've always had a crush on you, like before the kiss ever happened, I mean I was so in love with you that even my cat fucking knew when to leave me alone in my room when I started thinking hard about....well things......every time we get into a fight, i end up going to the art room where the teacher lets me paint my anger, and well my anger helps me paint really erotic paintings of me and you...and uh....well...yeah.." Luca mumbled, he looked away in fear that he'd be rejected for all of this.
Cooper cocked his head to the side. "Is that why you've been getting so mad at me? You thought I was teasing you because you liked me or something? I didn't know Luca. I wasn't trying to hurt you. I was just being... us," he responded softly. He probably should have known. But of course he'd been oblivious. He hadn't even known he liked Luca. He didn't know when he even started liking him.
Luca sighed, " Well yeah basically, I mean I know shouldn't have gotten mad at you like that because clearly you didn't know I liked you," Luca said softly. He rested his head on Cooper's shoulder, he closed his eyes and focused on Cooper's scent.
Cooper wrapped an arm around Luca and kissed his head. "I didn't know I liked you," he stated. "I don't know if there was a specific moment or like if I always have. I don't know. I just know I do now," he added. He felt bad. He should know but he just... didn't.
Luca sighed and pulled back, he gave a smile and wrapped Cooper's legs around his waist, " Lets get to bed, my dad will be pissed if I come to his house looking like I've been to hell," Luca said as he picked Cooper easily off the counter, smiling up at him.
Cooper smiled and nodded. He wrapped his arms around Luca and let him carry him to bed. He crawled under the covers and pulled Luca close to him when he did the same. He kissed Luca's cheek and then nuzzled his face into his shoulder.
Luca chuckled, when he was pulled into bed and nuzzled into, he laughed, " I didn't know you were part cat," Luca teased sleepily as he wrapped an arm around Cooper, his eyes slowly dropping close. Luca was so gonna have an hangover in the morning.
Cooper laughed softly. "Luca I'm afraid you're the cat. Remember?" he said softly. He was kind of scared to sleep. After the first go he was worried about it. He didn't want to wake up doing the same thing or screaming. But Luca's presence was comforting. His eyes were closing soon.
Luca groaned, " Oh yeah that stupid kink I have, I swear to god Cooper if you ever call me that outside of the bedroom, I will literally not kiss you for an entire week," Luca said, his eyes still closed as he shuffled closer to Cooper.
Cooper chuckled. He sat up and repositioned so his torso hovered over Luca's, one of his hands to each side of Luca's head. "Where's the fun in that?" he asked with a teasing grin. He leaned down and pressed his lips to Luca's cheeks, forehead, nose, then mouth before going back to the position he'd been in before with his arm around Luca and his head against his shoulder.
Luca grumbled and relaxed when he felt Cooper kiss him mainly all over his face and then lay back in the same position again, " You better be lucky I love you," Luca mumbled, " Now go to sleep, my dad will be pissed off if I don't get any sleep, you know how he is about my health lately," Luca said softly.
