Yeah it kinda is. I agree with Farren though. I'm glad she was finally useful but I also agree with you. I wish she was useful because she finally bothered to train and learn Shadowhunter ways instead of having a power like that and only being useful for that one particular moment when they need something created.
How can someone grin slightly??? Smile slightly, yeah, but grin slightly?Oh god how I want to DNF this book! 40 pages from the end and I just can't stand it. (view spoiler)
This book took me around 2 months to read. I was just so intimidated by it. The size, the format, the font, the long chapters. Overall, the only thing making me read it was the fact that I'd already started the series, and the hype around it. Initially it started off as a 4 star, like the others, but gradually over the course of the book it got worse and worse. I hate Clary. That's about all I want to say. *Beware potential rage coming* Her selfishness, her almighty conscious, the fact she is so spoiled and thinks that she can do anything, and the fact that she can only fuels her brattiness. She is so petty, she thinks she deserves whatever she wants, but then when she doesn't get it she throws a tantrum and gets it anyway, while making everyone else feel bad when everything goes well because of her. (view spoiler) I wanted to DNF this book right then, because I just couldn't believe it. I had to put the book down, right a mini rage like this in my buddy read thread, and then take deep breaths because it was just so unbelievable. She even went through in her head all of the things she could have wished for, and she chose that. The one thing that didn't change the world for anyone else, only made her feel better. She is so stupid. And annoying. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, as it's been many a conversation on aforementioned buddy read thread.Sorry for that long rage about my most hated MC ever, but I just needed to get it out to everyone how I hate her. I just hate her. Not looking forward to the rest of the series :/

I agree with everyone on Clary. Cassandra Clare could not have written a more annoying main character. At the end of the book..."
Oh man I agree with what you said about Valentine doing the best thing ever. Totally made my laugh out loud. Made my night and this book a little less shitty.

Another one of my favorite parts was when Isabelle says (view spoiler) Even then she doesn't realize how her selfishness is affecting everyone else.
I guess if Cassandra Clare chose to have Clary wish away demons then she would not be able to write more books. But you are right. (view spoiler)
@Maddison That's ok I enjoyed reading your rant lol. I have to agree. This is probably my least favorite book of the series so far. Even the second book felt like a filler to me and I liked that one more. The selfishness from both Clary and Jace were taken to a whole new level on this one and I don't like the fact that she can wish to draw her problems away. What ever happened to fighting for what you believe in? Like all those people that were willing to fight against valentine. No I guess not for Clary. She'll just draw a rune and that will solve everything.I still gave it 3 stars though. I still love the world building and some redeeming characters in this book (Magnus, Alec, Simon, Luke, and maybe Isabelle sometimes...)
Then there's also the whole plot twist making us think that Jace and Clary were siblings and I ended up shipping an incest-y relationship. But then they turned out to not be siblings and her brother's probably evil. I liked that part. It was creative....
But yeah not my fav so far.
I mean I've kind of had it spoiled for me by yknow the tv series and some friends, but meh, I just really didn't like it.
I still don't get why super fans say that Clary is their favorite MC. Even if you love the series and it's your favorite, she is still so bratty and immature, and every bad thing that happens to them is because SHE NEVER FUCKING LISTENS! I loved when Luke told her off in this book, and what Sebastian said to her and Jace was hilarious and 100% accurate. Maybe that's why I love his character so much. Well brace yourself guys, because Alec becomes the new Clary in the second half of the series...
I actually think it'll be alright if Alec changes because it's just the fact it's Clary that annoys me. Maybe with Alec it'll be alright.
It's not a spoiler that he begins to act selfish because it definitely won't be anything you'd expect. With her it's more like oh here she goes again, but now she becomes more likable and he becomes less likable. Except I personally never really liked Alec but I know a ton of readers do.
@Farren Aww that's kinda disappointing. But that's ok. I only liked him cuz of Magnus. As long as Magnus stays awesome and the way he is then I'll be just fine.
Oh right. Yeah Alec's meh. I don't really like anyone. I mean I like Luke, and Simon and Maya, but that's about it.
I like those three plus Magnus and Sebastian, but I don't like any of the Lightwoods or Clace. I did like Izzy better at the end of the series, but she still isn't nowhere near the top of my favorite female list. She's just catty and I don't like those girl shaming characters.
You guys have been very quiet recently lolI start City of Fallen Angels because I think that it next in publication order, but so far I've only had time for the first 2 chapters. I'm still determined to finish the rest of TMI and TID plus Lady Midnight in the next 6 weeks though!

I started City of Fallen Angels yesterday. I'm currently 6 chapters in.( is it just me or is this book really slow compare to the others?) I'm still determined to finish all the books before Lord of Shadows comes out, too. I work so much over the summer that if I don't read it before the end of June I won't get to it until August.
COFA tends to be everyone's least favorite of the series, and I personally didn't remember any of it when I started. I skimmed my [terrible, ranting] review to refresh myself and remembered I liked it least (view spoiler)At least it is the shortest book if you end up not liking it very much!
haha we did die out a littleI finished my reread of City of Fallen Angels the other day and... it's still absolutely my least favorite book of hers. It's just so focused on relationship drama. I rated it 3 stars before, and I did like it better without the horrible narration, but I'm debating whether I should throw an extra half star in or not.
I'm reading two books plus ACOWAR is coming out in a week (!) so I'm trying to figure out how to fit 6 more of Clare's big ass books into my schedule in the next month lol
@Maddison Wow it's that bad? I thought that series was supposed to be better?@Farren I'm so scared to read ACOWAR. I LOVED ACOMAF with a burning passion. I'm not sure if I'm ready for the heartbreak, insanity and epic ness that is ACOWAR. And of course I don't know if I can wait a whole year after reading ACOWAR.
I don't want to wait because 1.) I just can't do that to myself, and 2.) I don't want to see spoilers. And I'll just do a reread next year if I have to ;) I'm listening to ACOMAF now for a refresher but it's 23.5 hours long!
