Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2017!
Hi guys ! my name is Amy and popped in to say I'm new here. I'm from a small town called Saldanha, near Cape Town in South Africa. I love reading classic, young adult ficton, romance, adventure ficton & fantasy novels. I was looking for a challenge for the upcoming year of 2017 and thought this group was perfect for keeping me motivated. I haven't ever had a goal so I think I'll start of by setting my goal for 30 books for 2017. Hope everybody is doing well and enjoying their reads :)
Welcome to the group Amy! There certainly are plenty of challenges in this group to keep you motivated. Good luck with your goal for 2017! :)

Hi Jaclyn, and welcome!
I have the same -- my book pile only increases, never goes down.
Happy reading!
Hi, I'm Rachel! I'm from Oregon. My favorite genres are historical fiction and memoir, but I read from a lot of different categories.
I found this group on a recommendation from someone in a book-oriented Facebook group. I'm excited that there are different length challenges here!
I'm still developing my reading goal. I set my goodreads goal for 2016 at 27 books, which I am close to meeting. I'd like to challenge myself to read more widely and read more as a whole.
Right now I'm reading Life of Pi and Essentialism, among other things. Too many things, lol.
Hello, I'm Meghan from New York State. I was browsing through groups and found this one. I like to read fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction, poetry, and the occasional fluffy book.
My goal for 2017 is 36 books. I like to try the PopSugar challenge, but I'm finding a lot of interesting challenges in this group, too!
Hello all! Hannah checking in from snowy Michigan! I love almost anything fiction and adventurous. Currently reading the Time Travelers Wife, and I'm in love! My favorite book, however, is The Other Boylen Girl. I hope to read 7,500 pages this year. I like to do that rather than books because I'm a quick reader, and a book could take a day. 365 books is a little too much though!

Hi Hannah!
In regards to The Other Boleyn Girl, did you ever see the film?
Hello All, I'm Kalyn from North Dakota. We are at the end of a terrible blizzard so I was a able to do some reading because school was closed. I'm a teacher of special needs students and I truly love my job. I struggled with reading when I was younger but I had a very special teacher that made sure my love of stories always came first. I love to read all type of books but tend to enjoy historical fiction and chick lit. I love being part of reading challenges as well as book clubs because they allow me to read books I would not normally choose. I'm looking forward to reading 100 books this year. I feel short last year but I really want to focus on it this year. I also will enjoy seeing all of your picks.
Hi I'm from Canberra, Australia. I've been in this group for a few years now, but I haven't really introduced myself I don't think. I love to read almost anything, I particularly like autobiographies, biographies, fantasy, crime and etc. and - since I've been on goodreads - classics and non-fiction. I don't really read poetry or essays. I found this group just going through the list of groups and this one looked interesting. I think it's the first group I joined. In 2016 my goal was for 80 books and I've exceeded it by a few already. My 2017 goal is for 65 books, I'm hoping not to be as obsessed with books and concentrate on life a bit more, so I'm hoping that will help me feel I don't have to read so much. I've always loved books, I was reading at age 3 years old and due to Asperger's Syndrome (I got diagnosed 5 years ago, at 24 years old), I can be quite obsessed with books, I try not to be. Books will always be in my life though :)
Hi everybody! I'm from Brasília, Brazil. I'm joining the group now, expecting to boast my reading experience with you all. I read almost nonfiction books (history, philosophy, politics and law). I want to change it a little bit (not much). Wanna read my essays book collections and literature. I guess I'm in the right place!
I have not! I keep meaning to, and it just doesn't happen :(Nick wrote: "Hannah wrote: "Hello all!

Hi! I love your reading lists! I started with your 2015 list and have been participating this year too. In 2015 I met my goal of reading 50 books! This year I was busy writing a Master's project so my leisure reading was cut back. I've currently read 35 of my 50 book goal... For 2017, I hope to read at least 40. My name is Meg and I'm from Pomona, California (about an hour east of Los Angeles). My favorite book last year was "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio and so far this year, my favorite book was "The Year of Living Danishly" by Helen Russell. I'm excited to join this group and get recommendations for my reading enjoyment
Welcome Meg we are happy to have you! you are among many readers there are many challenges up so hopefully you will jump in a few to get to your 40 books.
Hi there my name is Esther :) I am from a small town down the very bottom of South Australia, known for our seafood. I am a lover of books. I love the idea of having a huge library like the one in Beauty and The Beast... I will read anything however I have yet to read a classic... however my main genres are Historical, Romance, YA/NA, and Drama. I found it as I was perusing through my friends list actually hahaMy reading goal for 2017 is 25 plus books :) want to keep it to an achievable goal for me haha
Hi Esther, welcome to the group! Scrolling through your friends lists is often the easiest way of finding new interesting books and fun groups :)

Hi EveryoneMy name is Tania. I am 38 and live in South Africa. Found the group by scrolling around all the different groups. Loved the general Goodreads challenge this year so a group sounded like a good idea. I mostly read YA paranormal or horror. Mostly into witches, magic and ghosts type of books. I am not sure what my goal will be for 2017.....still considering that one. Have a nice day

Hello :) Welcome to the group :D
Hi, everyone ... I'm Mindy, from New York (the state, not the city — it's a big state!). I came across this group after noticing that Goodreads has a reading challenge for every year but I didn't see one for next year yet. I've read hardly any books in the past few years, but I used to read a lot and would like to get back into reading more. I figured I'd start small, with a goal of one book a month for next year (12 total), though I'd love to read more than that if I can find the time. My favorite genre is usually post-apocalyptic stuff and future dystopias, though I also like literary fiction and a bit of sci-fi/fantasy.
Hi everyone, my name is Ruth Anne, and I am from southern New Mexico. Beautiful weather we are having this year. I actually found this site in January and then got busy and never came back. Now I am enjoying it for sure. I like to read a lot of genres. Crime, Romance, fantasy and more. I really like to get my hands on as many books as I can. I have a bookcase full of books that were recently pulled from storage. I'm looking forward to reading some of them that I hadn't read before. I think for 2017 I will set a goal of 60. I think that I can get there, as my nose is constantly in a book. Welcome to everyone and I'm glad to be here.
HelloMy name is José, i live in England, i'm not only new in this reading challenge, but in reading universe! I'm managing to read 7 book this year and i have 5 done and two missing to the end of 2016 (please no joking)! I read at most in Portuguese and im starting also to read in english. My favorite genre is romance biografic, and i love to ready about black history also. I looking forward to share and to know more reading expirience from you guys.
Hi! My name is Joann. I've finished my goal for 2016 reading, which was 15 books. I'm currently at 17. I was going to put 2017 at 18 books, but I think I'm going to go for 24.
I try to read books of all genres. I enjoy a good fiction novel the most though. My to read list is outrageously long with no end in sight currently, so I'm hoping to make a good dent in that soon. :)

Hi Joann, I also have a reading list that is long as I can see. I've been trying for years to make a dent, but always seem to add to it. Good luck on your reading list.
Hello everyone! I am Linzie, I am from Kansas! I enjoy reading all kinds of books, I like to read all books that will soon become movies!I have seen this group before, so I figured I would get started now, so I am ready for the 2017 challenge list! My reading goal would be to read the challenge list along with several books to become movies in 2017 that I have not already read!
Hi everyone! I'm Kabulo from Iowa. I like to read a variety of genres especially memoir, biography, politics/current events and history. I also like mystery and adventure. I found the group because I hope it will keep me accountable and I'm interested in how other people are reaching their goals. I've set a goal of 52 books for the past few years but I've failed to reach it. My goal for 2017 is 52 books.
Hello,My name is Annie, I'm from Canada. I had set my goal for 75 books in 2016, but so far, I've managed to finish only 14 books - although a few of them were quite long (War and Peace, which took me 4 months; that one was massive). I've had a really busy year, which left me with very little time to read. Needless to say that my TBR pile kept growing and has been recently renamed "Mt. TBR". So, my goal for 2017 is to read 52 books, and finish any book still on my "Currently reading" shelf by December 31st, 2016.
I will try to read only physical books that I own, before Mt. TBR gets out of control and becomes the "TBR range".
Hi guys (and girls). My name is Guillaume and I live in Quebec. I'm a writer, but I have only published short stories thus far (I'm currently working on my first book series, which will have 11 volumes). And what better way to learn how to write a book than by reading a book? At least that has been my philosophy for the past few years. In 2016 I read 35 books. My goal for 2017? 52 books. Hopefully I'll have enough time to complete it. But I guess it's not such a bad thing if I don't as it will mean I'm spending more time writing than reading ;). Good luck to everyone and may all your goals be fulfilled.
Hi everyone, I'm Chelsea and I'm from Australia. I've just been getting back into reading and loving it (of course) I've been using fiction to get back into the swing of things but I do love a good memoir and I'm always trying to get through a few science books. 'm aiming for a book a week for 2017!
hi Chelsea, Guillaume ,Kabulo welcome to the group! good luck with your challenges there is a ton of stuff set up for next year jump in.
Hello all, I'm Stephanie and I'm from California in the U.S. I'm a librarian, and I love reading from as many genres as possible, but my favorites are usually fantasy and historical fiction. I stumbled upon this group via a discussion group post on a book's page. My reading goal for 2017 is 125 books. I take part in the Around the Year in 52 Books Challenge, but I hope to try out some more challenges in 2017, and my fingers are crossed that I'll knock off a good bit of my ever-growing TBR list. The hard part is that every time I finish a book, I find out about like 5 more to add to the list.
Hi, I'm Aaliyaah and I am from the snowy lands of the true north (aka Canada :)) I heard about this group via POPsugar. My goal is to read a minimum of 20 books this year-the maximum has not been set yet ;)I am specially looking forward to reading the books listed on the 2017 POPsugar reading challenge!
Hello everyone! My name is Kathryn, I'm 25 years old, and I'm from California. I just started up a new profile on here after deleting an old one so I can start over fresh. I hope to one day be able to start a review blog as many others here on Goodreads have done.I enjoy reading just about any genre; biographies, classics, fantasy, science fiction, young adult, horror, thrillers, historical fiction, and plenty more.
My goal in 2017 will be to read at least 100-200 books. I'm disabled, so I have plenty of time. Can't wait to be a part of this group and get to know fellow readers.
Hey all, my name is Lisa, I'm 30 years old, and I am from Denmark. I joined Goodreads a few months back after deciding 2016 was the year to rekindle my love of reading :) I haven't read much since starting university but am hoping my goal for the forthcoming year will ease me into the habit of reading consistently again, while balancing college, work and life in general :)
I figured I'd start out with an a goal of 12 books. However, I'd love to read more than that in 2017 if I can find the time :) I've been living off of BookTube for the last couple of weeks so my TBR list is now outrageously long!
