My name is Heather and I am a social worker from Baltimore MD. I want to read more this year and thought joining some sort of a challenge would be helpful. My goal is to read twice as much as I read this year. This year I read 10 books so I hope to read 20 in 2016. Since I am a social worker and concerned about social justice, I like to read books that help me better understand different races, cultures, religons, sexualities, etc. I also hope to read some books by authors from Baltimore or who are writing about Baltimore this year (The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons and an Unlikely Road to Manhood The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks The Beast Side: Living (and Dying) While Black in America. I also enjoy guilty pleasures too (Laine Moriarty

Hi everyone! My name is Oksana and I'm from Ukraine.I have not enought time to read all books I want to. So this year my reading challenge is not completed (18/23 ). I hope in 2017 I will be more organized and manage my time to read at least 25 books. Hope participation in this group help me to reach this goal.
I mostly read fantasy, classic and dystopia but have favourite books in other genres too. Also I like to re-read fairytales to refresh their in my memory and some fantasy series.
Hello all! My name is Ece, from Turkey. I have been a member since 2014 but never really active mostly because I don't how to use or what to do there. Recently I wanted to become active and found this group. In 2017, my goal is to read 40 books but importantly I want to read different genres and different authors. Hope that I'll reach my goals this years.
My name is Fico and I found this group from joining the GoodReads site after I got my Kindle PawerWhite and, saw there was a community option for GoodReads so, here I am. I consider myself a very light reader, but what I have read it tends to go to the Young Adult books like the Hunger Games and the Percy Jackson and the Olympians. My reading goal is to have read around 20-30 (more on this on my 1-50 post) books including at least 1 Game of Thrones book read, and a long read like, a Robert Jordan or Brandon Sanderson book in the “Done” column. I’m from Tampa, FL, where the weather felt like it did what it wanted more this year than any past year I’ve been here, and when I don’t read, I spend 70% of my free time on video games, 20% on YouTube and 10% on movies, going out and watching wrestling with my friends. BLAST!
Hi my name is Katie, I'm 20 and I'm from ireland, I joined this group cause i really need to read more in 2017 i plan to read atleast 75 books but we'll have to see, with college and work.
Honestly I'll usually read anything I'm really into manga these days but romance novels and YA is what I really love!!
I found this grouo while scrolling though the groups on goodreads I'm only new to the website so I thought I'd try and be interactive..
Hello everyone. My name is Brittney and I am from the United States. I currently live in Wisconsin which is freezing this time of year. I like to read fantasy and sci-fi books mostly and I have recently started reading Manga. I watch a fair amount of anime, but that is a different story.I saw this group while I was browsing for groups to join and I thought it looked pretty interesting.
Overall, my goal is to finish two or three books this upcoming year. I have been having a hard time finding books that interest me lately, let alone it being difficult to find time to read.
Hello, I am Dawn and I live outside of Atlanta in Henry County. I have also been a member of Goodreads for some time. I made a goal of reading 25-30 books this year and have just finished book 43. I enjoy historical fiction (Jean Plaidy, Sara Donati) and I also love Westerns like Lonesome Dove and books by Dorothy Wiley and Rosanne Bittner. I would like to see if I can get to 50 books in 2017.
Career wise I am a first grade teacher; and yes I am really on my students about reading. I have been a voracious reader ever since I was a child and just love getting caught up in the past versus contemporary.

Welcome all! Hope you enjoy being in the group and take part in lots of the fun challenges. Goodluck with your goals :)
Hey guys,My name is Lauren and I was born and raised in Missouri. I very recently joined Goodreads after landing a position as a Library Associate. I'm not sure how I've gone through my entire life without using Goodreads, as I've found it incredibly handy for keeping track of lists of books to use for displays at work. I read a wide variety of books, though I do have a soft spot for Young Adult. My big project plan for this year is to read all of the Gateway Reader and Mark Twain Award nominees for the 2017-2018 cycle, and keep an ongoing blog of my reviews. I joined this group because I thought it would be ideal for recording my 2017 reading goals, and a lot of fun to cheer others on as they accomplish their own milestones.
Nice to meet you all!
Hi I'm Carol from Lancaster, PA. I've been an avid reader my whole life. I enjoy mostly fiction like mysteries, thrillers, cozy, etc., I also enjoy historical fiction and suspense. Some of my favorite authors are Macomber, Brunstedter, Coble, Kellerman, King, Kincaid, just to name a few off the top of my head, but there are 100's more that I enjoy reading and I look forward to discovering new authors too. Hope that by joining this challenge I will discover some new ones this year.
Hello, I am from Iceland and stumbled upon this group when I was going through the groups looking for one where I could get good ideas for what to read in the new year :) I guess my goal is to read more than I did this year, which shouldn't be hard to reach :p and as so many others, the pile is high and I should have enough to read :p
Hi I am Nicole and i am from Clawson MI. I am a jumper from different genres depending on my mood. I read everything from high fantasy to autobiographical to historical fiction. I found the group searching for a 2017 reading challenge. My goal for 2017 is to read 30 books. Looking forward to getting to know everyone :)
Namaste everyone. I'm Chelsea, and I live in Cleveland. I love reading, but my A.D.D. makes it difficult, so it takes me longer than I'd like to finish books. In the war of paper vs. e-book, I'm 97% paper. not literally. I'm made out of water and sugar with a dash of electricity. Anyway, My current read is the end portion of a Robert Heinlein book, and I'm not sure what I'll pick up next. One thing's for sure: reading is amazing, and it's refreshing to be in such a great group with other book lovers. Read on, people!
Hello all -- I'm a reader and writer living near Rochester/Buffalo NY. I read a lot at university and prefer philosophy, history, and fantasy (think Ersula Le Guin). My combined (assigned from university and personal) goal for 2017 is 48 books.
Best wishes,
Matt
Hi, all. My name is Laura Brittany Saxon. I live in Ocala, Florida. I am retired. When I lived in Alabama, I worked with my Dad at his medical office where he was a doctor and I would do various tasks for him, like pull charts for the next day, replace worn out charts and other things. My main job now is keeping the house clean. I am 29 years old. My parents play a lot of tennis and my Mom is a 3.5 now, so we have a lot of people who come out to the house to play tennis. We have a tennis court at our house. We live right next door to a huge thoroughbred horse farm and we are good friends with the guys that work there and we give them lots of vegetables when our garden is really producing. We have a lot of sweet potatoes in. I also do things with our tennis friends. Mom and I will often go to the movies with Amanda Daugherty. Her husband, Jeff, had a stroke last month and after some intense rehab at Ocala Health South, is well on his way to recovery. He can move his left arm a bit more and his balance is getting better. It was a very close call and he almost died, and he won't be playing tennis anymore since he passed out after a match once and had a heart attack after another match and now this stroke. I love to read and use my Nook Color for my reading. It is much more portable. I don't even touch paperback books anymore. They are too old fashioned. I read anything from science fiction to historical novels. have just finished reading Sins Of The House Of Borgia and it was very good.
Greetings from Colorado! I've been very active on Goodreads for a while - 2016 was a superb year in terms of coming back to my roots of regular book reading. I'm a true-blue physical book reader/collector, though I don't snub my nose at folks who prefer e-readers and auditory books. Y'all just know where to come when the apocalyptic destruction of all the libraries and bookstores happens. ;D I'm looking forward to figuring out how to maximize some interaction here in this challenge group. I'll be using challenges to whittle down the unread towers in my house while allowing myself to continue acquiring new books within reason. They're just so darned addicting, aren't they?
I never used Goodreads before, but one of my friends on Facebook mentioned it and I started using it and doing the reading challenges. I always seem to come up a bit short on those challenges, but I'll do better next year. Where in Colorado are you from? I actually live in Morriston, but we are not far from town. What did you do for Christmas this year? My Mom and Dad and I went down to Lakewood Ranch to visit my Grandma Saxon and her neighborhood always looks lovely at Christmas time.
Hi, Indigo. I was in London last year when Viking Ocean Cruises made their maiden voyage from Barcelona to Bergen and I enjoyed it. I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan and have always wanted to see the museum and I got to see it and it was really fun. Good luck with your honors degrees. I have read Tess Of the D'Urbervilles and Middle March.
Hi my names Sarbjot it's an usual name but I like it, I am 13 years old and I know I'm really young for this website. My parents support me in every decision also I keep them updated. I love books but as you can see I really want to read books thats why I'm here, I want find my favorite authors, make new friends, and find myself in this world. I really want to see myself grow on this website and look back to what I read.
Hi everyone,My name is Stephen and I'm looking to set a reading goal for myself this year, 25 books. I figure I should aim for something reasonable so I don't disappoint myself. This group seems to be a good fit for me and I like the books that I've seen the members have been reading. I'm hoping to read a diverse selection of books this year to broaden my tastes and knowledge. Thanks for having me on board!
Hello! I'm Tanise and I'm from Santa Maria (a little town in the South of Brazil). I'm joining the group now and, like others, I find it while scrolling through goodreads. My goal in 2017 is to read 20 books (and expand the genres I read).
Hello! My name is Ida and I'm from Denmark. I enjoy many different genres, but I mostly read fantasy. I found this group randomly on Goodreads, and i did participate in the challenge from 2016, but I started i November...

Hi all, I am Mukul and I am from Rajasthan, India. I've been a regular user of goodreads for a while now and love to read books. I like fantasy, fiction, mythology and history books. I also like reading comics. I found this group searching for a 2017 reading challenge. In 2016, I setup a 15 books reading challenge and it's been an awesome journey since then. My goal for this year is to read 30 books. I also want to start some new genres this year like classics and motivational books. I would like to know others and discuss each others reading experiences. Looking forward to getting to know everyone :)
Hi! ^_^ My name is Miranda, and I'm a 25-year old in Iowa. I read 275 books in 2016, and I want to really stretch myself in 2017 with a goal of 500. I joined this group to hopefully give myself some encouragement and motivation towards that goal. I primarily like to read sci-fi, fantasy, mysteries, and YA, but I also read some nonfiction (and listen to a lot of nonfiction audiobooks).I can't wait to see what 2017 has in store for us!
Hi Miranda, welcome to the group. Wow, 500 is a massive amount of books. How do you plan to get so much reading done? I am curious as I would like to read more books, but don't seem to find the time.
Hi everyone! I have been a member of Goodreads for awhile but have not utilized it fully. I will try this year. I used to read....alot. But life and computers tend to suck what little free time I have. I will try and bust that bad habit.I am in Hartford, CT. I work at a high school as the athletic secretary. I read romance, fantasy, contemporary; just about anything but horror. I look forward to participating more fully this year than last year. :)

In the basement, plotting my demise. (we don't have basements in Vegas actually)
- What's your reading goal?
It'll probably be around 200 but remember I read graphic novels in stuff.
Hi my name is Maddy and I'm from wales. I just kinda stumbled across this group the other day. My goal for 2017 is to read 100-110 books excluding re-reads, and to read Game of Thrones.
Hey everyone! I'm Shajan! Goal for the year is to read more novels and less graphic novels (may squeeze a few in though haha). I enjoy books on crime and some sci-fi but looking to expand into other genres. I was recommended by a good friend to try the PopSugar Reading Challenge for 2017 so I'm looking forward to attempting that!
Howdy. I am from Ohio. I have decided that as I have gotten older, I am more of a book and book list hoarder than reader. I am hoping to change that this year. I was searching through groups on Goodreads and this one caught my eye. I am hoping the challenges will help me stay focused and motivated.
I am hoping to read about 35 books. I typically read fiction and mysteries. I like books with strong women characters.
Hi! I'm Megan! I'm from Louisiana. I enjoy suspense, classics, literary fiction, books about New Orleans, memoirs, and SOME YA. My goal is to read 40 books in 2017, and I want to branch out more. I found out about the 2017 reading challenge through a facebook post. I have since uninstalled my facebook app on my phone because I feel like I waste too much time on it, when I could be expanding my mind by reading books!
Hi! I'm from Texas (just moved here from California). I don't know anybody where I live now, and I don't think any of my coworkers are big readers, so I wanted to join this group so I can have some sort of socialization and not be afraid to discuss books (do you ever try talking to someone about books and they look at you like you have two heads?) I like to read a variety of genres-- all depends on my mood. I absolutely love Colleen Hoover books. I'm hoping to read 40 books in 2017. And I envy those that can read over that amount :)
Hello everyone, my name is Sukanta Roy, and I'm from kolkata, West Bengal, India. I have never done a reading challenge so was planning to try it in 2017. And so I googled reading challenges for 2017 and this group popped up. My goal for 2017 is nothing fancy. I want to read 15 books in 2017. I love to read about fantasy, sci-fi, science and technology related, romance, adventure, Y.A fictions etc.
Hi everyone, New to the group, and looking forward to being more involved in this part of Goodreads.
- I am from Bergen in Norway, though I live and work in Malta, south of Sicily and Italy.
- I mostly read crime novels (Michael Connelly, Harlan Coben, Jeffery Deaver, Dennis Lehane, Don Winslow etc.), though I also read other novels.
- Just searched for Reading Challenge on Goodreads
- For 2017, I might go for around 40-45. Had 40 this year, which I've surpassed. I'm looking at a few thich books for next year, though, so considering not putting too much pressure on myself by raising it above 40.
:)
