I loved Hugh Howey's Wool series. Thank you for this wonderful suggestion. I hope it's readily available.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Just came across this book with a car in the cover:

The Highway Kind The Highway Kind by Patrick Millikin

I didn't read it, but I remember someone here having a hard time finding cars in cover. I have to read 2 for my challenge!

message 405: by Heather (new)

Heather Morris | 125 comments Any body have a good book suggestion for books set during Halloween? The books I've found so far with Halloween in the title don't seem great. I'm using listopia but coming up blank for knowing if they are actually set during Halloween.

message 406: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments If you like cozy mysteries, I would recommend The Legend of Sleepy Harlow. It's from a series called "Literary Ladies," but I don't think you need to read the books in order. The Literary Ladies are three women who were constantly bickering and taking each other to court in their small town, until the judge got tired of it. He sentenced them to having a book club together for a year. This, of course, led to them solving mysteries together.

message 407: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments The only suggestion I have is Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie. I rated it 4 stars so I would recommend it if you like her books.

Thank you for the recommendation! I've added the book to my library list to cover my Halloween task.

Sarah | 18550 comments Another car on the cover book is Down Among the Dead Men by Kerry Wilkinson which is what I will be reading for that task.

Dark Harvest sounds interesting. I never realised how few books are set at halloween til I went looking! For me it's a double whammy as my birthday is October :-)

I'm in the same boat. Favorite holiday and birth month!

For instance All Saints' Eve - both a classic and Paranormal

I ran into the same snag. I thought it would be easy to find books that would fit.

At least you can go with "October" in the title for your birthday book.

You've come up with a great solution for the olive question. Remember, this is survey challenge is about you and how you interpret things.

As for the sports question. If I was in your shoes, I would either pick a sport that I liked even remotely - something I'd participated in or appreciated and slot that in as my answer. Or, I'd maybe read about a book about someone who hated sports. Whatever you decide, be prepared to defend your choice.

And have fun. :)

That would work.

I understand your sentiments except for me, it's hockey. Saturday nights, I'd be preparing for church on Sunday which meant bath, jammies on, hair curled. I could hear the tv in the living room, "It's Hockey Night in Canada!" Such nostalgia. :)

Nightshade (Nightshade #1; Nightshade World #4) by Andrea Cremer , Mercy Lily by Lisa Albert , Red Lily (In the Garden, #3) by Nora Roberts , Tempted by Virginia Henley .

I found these on this listopia. I only looked at part of the first page. There are likely more.

Thanks for that Janice ... I think I will go with interpreting this question.I googled for what Lily represents..it gave innocence and purity..

Maybe I will read Monsieur Ibrahim and The Flowers of the Qur'an
As one od the main character is a child and a child represents innocence and purity too.

I put none for sports as well. I'm hoping to find a book with a character that doesn't like sports either, but I haven't really had any luck yet. I'm thinking I need to find a book with a nerdy main character. By default/stereotyping, nerds don't like sports. LOL.

That is exactly what I did: Smaragdgrün (Edelstein-Trilogie, #3) by Kerstin Gier

siriusedward (elenaraphael) | 887 comments will this do for green and black on the cover The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood ?

if not , then I will read either The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare , The Princess Bride by William Goldman or The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Hercule Poirot, #4) by Agatha Christie
or reread Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6) by J.K. Rowling

Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore is full of nerds! Or the Twilight books - Bella hates sports ;-)

The beauty of this challenge is that you get to decide. If you think it meets the criteria, then it meets the criteria. :)

I read them as an adult and liked them. OK there's a lot of teen angst but that's what it's like to be a teen! I think the films ruined the story - Bella was just whiny.
