Just came across this book with a car in the cover:The Highway Kind
I didn't read it, but I remember someone here having a hard time finding cars in cover. I have to read 2 for my challenge!
Any body have a good book suggestion for books set during Halloween? The books I've found so far with Halloween in the title don't seem great. I'm using listopia but coming up blank for knowing if they are actually set during Halloween.
If you like cozy mysteries, I would recommend The Legend of Sleepy Harlow. It's from a series called "Literary Ladies," but I don't think you need to read the books in order. The Literary Ladies are three women who were constantly bickering and taking each other to court in their small town, until the judge got tired of it. He sentenced them to having a book club together for a year. This, of course, led to them solving mysteries together.
The only suggestion I have is Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie. I rated it 4 stars so I would recommend it if you like her books.

Heather wrote: "Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I will look into them :)"For Halloween i have Cranewhich is a retelling of the sleepy hollow story. Also Something Wicked This Way Comes and possibly Dark Matter tho that may be more for October - I'll have to read it to check ;-)
I've got these on my list as possibles for Halloween:Dark Harvest (wishlist)
Death of a Pumpkin Carver (wishlist)
Hallowe'en Party (wishlist)

Dark Harvest sounds interesting. I never realised how few books are set at halloween til I went looking! For me it's a double whammy as my birthday is October :-)
Margo wrote: "For me it's a double whammy as my birthday is October :-) "I'm in the same boat. Favorite holiday and birth month!
try looking for Samhein also, or All Hallows or All Saints Eve - same thing. For instance All Saints' Eve - both a classic and Paranormal

You are welcome Sue :)
Margo wrote: "Dark Harvest sounds interesting. I never realised how few books are set at halloween til I went looking! For me it's a double whammy as my birthday is October :-) ."I ran into the same snag. I thought it would be easy to find books that would fit.
At least you can go with "October" in the title for your birthday book.

YAY, it has a train in the cover!
if one gave the answer both ,for the olive question, should one read a book with green and black cover...?and I answered the question about sports preference as none, what should I do..?
siriusedward wrote: "if one gave the answer both for the olives question, should one read a book with green and black cover...?and i answered the question about sports preference as none, what should I do..?"
You've come up with a great solution for the olive question. Remember, this is survey challenge is about you and how you interpret things.
As for the sports question. If I was in your shoes, I would either pick a sport that I liked even remotely - something I'd participated in or appreciated and slot that in as my answer. Or, I'd maybe read about a book about someone who hated sports. Whatever you decide, be prepared to defend your choice.
And have fun. :)
Thanks Janice...maybe i will read something relating to football/soccer, I love to be near when my brothers and father watch the sports... their comments, shouts and discussions interests me.. a kinda secondhand like.. I just don't like to play sports or watch sports by myself...

That would work.
I understand your sentiments except for me, it's hockey. Saturday nights, I'd be preparing for church on Sunday which meant bath, jammies on, hair curled. I could hear the tv in the living room, "It's Hockey Night in Canada!" Such nostalgia. :)
Janice wrote: " "It's Hockey Night in Canada!" Such nostalgia. :)..."I hate sports but I have the same nostalgia for this one. :)
Here's some options, siriusedward:

.I found these on this listopia. I only looked at part of the first page. There are likely more.

My friend Dom and I are going to read Nightshade if you want to join us, siriusedward. We picked lilies too.

October doesn't seem to available here in ireland at yhe ,oment :( I'll have to hope that my tip off was right and Dark Matter does take place in October.
siriusedward wrote: "if one gave the answer both ,for the olive question, should one read a book with green and black cover...?and I answered the question about sports preference as none, what should I do..?"
well....nothing, of course! ; )

Eh heh .. read nothing and fulfil challenge....
Thanks for that Janice ... I think I will go with interpreting this question.I googled for what Lily represents..it gave innocence and purity..
Maybe I will read Monsieur Ibrahim and The Flowers of the Qur'an
As one od the main character is a child and a child represents innocence and purity too.
Halloween book Something Wicked This Way Comes. Also set in October generally. If i hadn't already read it i would have used it for October setting.

The book does sound intereting.if I can get hold of it I would like to join you both.
Sarah wrote: "Halloween book Something Wicked This Way Comes. Also set in October generally. If i hadn't already read it i would have used it for October setting."Yeah I'll propably go with that for my October read. Unfortunately Janice recommendation October doesn't sem to be available in ireland.

I put none for sports as well. I'm hoping to find a book with a character that doesn't like sports either, but I haven't really had any luck yet. I'm thinking I need to find a book with a nerdy main character. By default/stereotyping, nerds don't like sports. LOL.
siriusedward wrote: "if one gave the answer both ,for the olive question, should one read a book with green and black cover...?"That is exactly what I did:

Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore is full of nerds! Or the Twilight books - Bella hates sports ;-)
If anyone is still looking for a book with archaeologists, I read a really good one recently: The Shadowy Horses. It would also work for a ghost story.
Anyone born in October? Rosemary and Rue, book 1of the October Days series is on sale for $6 on audible.com.
I read the Twilight books a long time ago and actually liked them. I wonder if I would still like them now that I'm a little older and (hopefully) wiser.
Casceil wrote: "If anyone is still looking for a book with archaeologists, I read a really good one recently: The Shadowy Horses. It would also work for a ghost story."Thanks, Caseil. I'm still looking for an archaeology book or set in a museum for that task. I'll add it to my list.
siriusedward wrote: "will this do for green and black on the cover
?if not , then I will read either
, [bookcover:The Princess Bride|2178..."The beauty of this challenge is that you get to decide. If you think it meets the criteria, then it meets the criteria. :)
KimeyDiann wrote: "I read the Twilight books a long time ago and actually liked them. I think the films ruined the story - Bella was just whiny.
