Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Looking for a birthday month title?

Thought I'd share this:

Murder-by-Month Mystery series by Jess Lourey .

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Thanks for this thread Janice.

I'm pretty sure I once heard about a book which I think is historical fiction, but one of the characters is a woman who actually was a real archealogist. Don't remember anything else, but I think several people here read it. Any ideas which book I mean?

message 4: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Would Timeline by Michael Crichton work for task #4? I am looking for a book with an archaeologist as a character and I thought I read somewhere that this had archaeologists in it.

message 5: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Great thread! I loved the one we used this year. I found lots of good books to add to my TBR, even if they don't fit any of MY tasks.

Euphoria by Lily King?

I haven't read it but it is on my list. I think it was a July group read.

message 7: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Thanks Almeta, that may have been the one!

I see now that it's about anthropologists and not archealogists, too bad!

I read that a long time ago and don't remember, but the book blurb says that they are archeologists.

message 10: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I think Timeline would work. Definitely archaeologists. Would also work for time travelling.

I have this book at home, Lisa. The note in my book file says "sci-fi, time travel, made into a movie and archeology students get trapped in the past on a rescue mission to save their professor". Sounds like you are in luck. :0)

Euphoria is definitely about anthropologists, Peggy.
Amelia Peabody and her husband are archeologists in the series by Elizabeth Peters. Crocodile on the Sandbank is the first one.

message 14: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Thanks Cherie! Definitely an option for that question. Always nice to read a quick cozy in between :)

Oh, well, I just re-read the rule. If I hadn't broken my thumb playing soccer, I could have read it. ;o(
Back to the drawing board. I am sure I have a title with bone in it. I already read The Bone Garden for my Geo Challenge.

message 18: by Cherie (last edited Nov 28, 2016 12:09PM) (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Did Janice say that plurals are out? I saw something about accident vs accidents in the title. Does that mean bones vs bone is out too? If yes, then darn, I am never going to get to read The Lovely Bones. I'd have to wade my through A Breath of Snow and Ashes to get to An Echo in the Bone, but I have a whole year, right? I already read The Bone People - wasn't a great fit for me... Oh, Carved in Bone is on my book list.... hmmm The Body Farm Series looks interesting. Ivory and Bone was very good, I thought.

I better go to lunch so I can get back to work....

message 19: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Janice hasn't ruled about plurals yet, but aren't they allowed in basically every challenge?

The other question was accident vs accidental, so a bit different.

message 20: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59897 comments I thought I did rule about plurals, or I intended to. Sarah had asked for clarification. The answer is that plurals are allowed.

If it helps anyone, here are some archaeology related novels on Listopia:

message 23: by Ariane (new)

Ariane | 947 comments Does anyone think of a book with "Easter" in it?
I think I should have said Christmas...

message 24: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments shower vs bath - warning, warning, warning

If you enter "shower" in the Search Books space, be prepared to need to go take one. Whew! If you enter shower in the Listopia link, you either get books for baby showers or hot and steamy m/m or bdsm sex books. Just saying! I found only one that I was interested in reading: Never Shower in a Thunderstorm, but.... uh, never mind!

Not fair that there are no book covers with a shower stall (I couldn't find any), but there are plenty of titles with bathtubs on the covers. I couldn't find any I especially wanted to read. I found one cover I especially liked, but the story summary burned my ears.

message 25: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Lol Cherie! I did a quick search too and came across a book that sounded interesting in case I manage all 50. I forgot the exact title but it was something with owl and shower.

Ariane, when I searched the lists for 'books set in spring' I got a list with easter/pesach books. Didn't look at it, but maybe there's something in there?

Anyone else got the idea that list-searching doesn't work as well as it did before? I get the most random lists...

message 26: by Peggy (last edited Nov 30, 2016 12:20AM) (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Oh, found the shower book: There's an Owl in the Shower

message 27: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Hm, I thought it was a memoir or something, but maybe it's children's fiction.

message 28: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Or think outside the box and look for a cover with rain (can't you call that a 'shower' in English too?)

message 29: by Ariane (new)

Ariane | 947 comments Cherie, I saw The Girl in Alfred Hitchcock's Shower for now, but the rates are not that good...
but yeah, the search with "shower" can bring you to some strange places... haha

Thanks Peggy, I'll look into it... and I am still looking for that spring book too...

message 30: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Peggy - I loved The Owl in the Shower title too but it is only 137 pages. It sounds like a great story line too.

message 31: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Oh, I didn't even realize about the page numbers. Sorry!

message 32: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments I didn't gopher for the shower task yet, buy I had in mind a cover with a waterfall.

I found Shower of Stars that I might go with.

message 36: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19148 comments I found a lot of erotica books looking for shower too, Cherie. There is a whole listopia list of books with bathtubs on the cover and some look really good. Wish I had gone with bath...

I did find Murder Can Rain on Your Shower, which is a cozy. I also have Shower of Stars, which Lori listed above on my possible list.

Great idea to use rain showers, Peggy. I hadn't thought of that.

Did you do a search for "Easter"? Granted there are a lot of children's books, but a quick search brought up:
The Easter Parade
Easter's Lilly
Easter Lilly: A Novel of the South Today
Black Easter

I had the same happen during my initial gophering for Thanksgiving as my favorite holiday. A lot of cute children's books but all short in length. Can anyone think of a longer novel, where Thanksgiving play a prominent role in the story?

message 39: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59897 comments Just a reminder that you are welcome to interpret your survey answers. Someone commented about looking for a waterfall on the cover for "shower". Just be prepared to justify your choice. :)

Holy Terrors by Mary Daheim (Easter brunch and egg hunt)
Easter Promises by Lois Richer (Romance)
Esther Egg Hunt by Sam Cheever (Paranormal Romance)
The Darcy Cousins by Monica Fairview (Historical Fiction set during Easter)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Oh, I am prepared! A shower in a waterfall would be my dream shower!! (I am talking about small cascades, not the niagara's of course)

The House We Grew Up In takes place over several Easters and has an egg (Easter egg connection) on the cover.

The ship that was beached with a slaughtered crew on board was found in October.

Sarah | 18550 comments A Christmas question now. Anyone know if these are set at christmas? I found them on a Christmas listopia.
A Prayer for Owen Meany
The Wind in the Willows
The Woman in Black

message 49: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Sarah, I don't know about the ones you have listed, but I recently read a very off-beat Christmas book, The Inn at the Edge of the World.

message 50: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Thanks Casceil. I've added it to my wishlist. I am trying desperately to stick to books I own or at least are already on my wishlist.
