I'm aiming for staying close to guidelines. My questions are more along the lines of is this cover close enough to avocado green and covering enough? Avocado is my favorite fruit. I don't eat it as often as some other fruits that I also like, but avocado is so luscious and delicious.

Yes, they are! Have you avocado trees in your area? Or you have to buy them? We have plenty of trees and in the season it is impossible to eat them all...

message 353: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments We buy them, Mariab. Usually from Mexico. Some people here have success growing them, but our attempts have failed : ( The best guacamole ever is fresh made in Mexico right at your table. So delicious!!!

Joan The cover on at least one edition of What's Eating Gilbert Grape has a car, a truck and a van - and it's one of The YLTO group reads this month. What's Eating Gilbert Grape by Peter Hedges

message 355: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Oh, thank you, Joan! My hardcover library book is the one with the house on fire and in the lower left corner, partially covered by the author's name sticker on the spine, is Gilbert's blue pick-up truck in the driveway. This might be my #12 book.

message 356: by Joan (last edited Feb 02, 2017 08:59PM) (new)

Joan Yup, blue pickup in the Grape driveway. I'm glad I made you laugh - "clever literary symbols" - I just had to share.

message 361: by Deborah (last edited Feb 03, 2017 08:49PM) (new)

Deborah Pickstone | 529 comments Peggy - The Water Babies is about chimney sweeps and their exploitation through which Tom basically drowns and has a new life, eventually reaching the sea (an Isle) so I would say it should count but it's quite sad and a classic - Had thought of it but have read it at least twice before

message 362: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I loved the water babies film as a child. I don't remember much about it now though.

message 363: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Thanks for the book suggestions and confirmation of the water babies, Deborah!

message 364: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Pickstone | 529 comments I never knew there was a film! Peggy, I was so slow that you probably finished reading about the female archeologist - I was on a much earlier page and thought it was the current one!

Mariab | 3059 comments Deborah wrote: "yeah....but Freddie! ..."
True!
;-)))

message 366: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments The film is really old but my slim memory of it is that it was good. I might not think that now though if I were to watch it again.

message 367: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11629 comments Apologies if this has already been posted but I found a book with SHOWER in the title A Deadly Bridal Shower. I'm not a great fan of cozies but it's the best I've found so far.

I found it too and thought that I may read it. Then I found Psycho which had a shower on the cover.

Oh good thinking! Psychopaths ate much more to to my taste than cozies ;-)

message 370: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Thanks Margo! I also found Murder Can Rain on Your Shower a while ago. Both seem similar, a cozy with a murder and a bridal shower.

I like cozies every now and then, for a quick in-between no-brain-read, so I'll probably read one of those two for the task.

message 371: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I recently found A Shower Of Summer Days, which I'm planning to use for task #23 for shower over bath preference.

It could also be used for task #29 for anyone whose favorite flower is daisy. Or #3 if you have blue-green eyes.

message 372: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Pickstone | 529 comments hum....try finding bath as a preference! Two Wife of Bath as a title, Library had only one and as kindle. I finally came up with The Ritual Bath.....something about ablutions seems to go with murder.....?????

These are not the only covers for this series of books. Beware! I do not mean they are gross, but these "fruit" pics could be misleading.

message 386: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Not at all. These are the Berkley edition covers. The other covers are more typical Erotica.

message 387: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments I found Dancing on Broken Glass Dancing on Broken Glass by Ka Hancock in a free little library, and I am using it for the shoes/barefeet task.

message 388: by Cherie (last edited Feb 15, 2017 06:05PM) (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I already read my "shoes" book, Sandra, but thank you for the recommendation. I have added it to my TBR list. It might have enough brown on the cover to be used for "chocolate". I love the little bird house on the dresser.

message 390: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments For any of you horse lovers, I found this and started listening to it last night. Chosen by a Horse. The narrator is just fantastic. It is a sad, but very interesting story too. It is about a rescued horse and the lady who took her home, who has problems of her own.

Thank you so much Janice. The Human Cadavers book scares the daylights of out of me, and that's just the title. I'll check the availability of other two. Thanks again!

message 394: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59897 comments Mary Roach apparently approaches her books with a great sense of humour. I have another of her books to read - Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void. The Stiff one is on my wishlist and only a possibility at this point.

message 395: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19148 comments Faiza - I also have The Flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot Livesey The Flight of Gemma Hardy on my TBR and I read Every Body Yoga Let Go of Fear. Get On the Mat. Love Your Body. by Jessamyn Stanley Every Body Yoga: Let Go of Fear. Get On the Mat. Love Your Body. for that task. I thought it was just ok, but it had lots of yoga poses to try if you're interested.

Also, for those who are travelling back to the 60s, The Andromeda Strain is set in the late 60s.
