"I'm bulletproof nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium, I am titanium, I am titanium, I am titanium"
~ Titanium, David Guetta

Crappy Story Time!"You're not supposed to be here!" A hand fell upon my shoulder, turning me around to face a mighty guard with a frown on his face. "Please head over to the fountain." I took off from there as fast as I could. I couldn't bear anymore of this. As he had right mentioned, I was not supposed to be here.
As I walked to the fountain, I noticed that all the seats in the front had already been occupied. It would be hard to locate my friends before the king arrived to begin the ceremony. It was a futile attempt anyway.
I took one of the side seats and just as I sat down, noticed Angelina with her friends. She smiled and waved at me before looking to my side, then a frown spread on her face. 'Is there no one with you?' She mouthed. She had seen me all by myself at school yesterday as well. I shook my head and looked away. 'Come here!' She mouthed, gesturing to one of the seats near her. So I went there.
"Harriet, you're always alone! Where are your friends?" She asked. There was a tone of sympathy - something I no longer wanted. "I don't know. I couldn't find them." I shrugged. Kysa, Amber and Melinda had been planning everything they wanted to do at this fair since time immemorial, but had never once included or even asked me whether I wanted to tag along. When I voiced my disinterest in going, all they asked was a three lettered word 'why' and never once hinted that they would like me around to have fun. Maybe they don't. That simply vexed me.
"Good morning, citizens of Mayra, and of course, the visiting citizens of other lands who have come to join us. Welcome to this year's Eclipse Reaping. I am certain you will enjoy it. The king has arrived with his family!"
Everyone stood up to welcome the royal family of our land. He smiled at the cheering crowd and went up the platform with his family. The fountain below him was a beauty, and I focused on that instead of him.
"My dear people and our guests from lands beyond the boundaries, welcome! Every year, to commemorate the mythical victory of our Goddess Ila, who fought with her brother, Saqrus, in a legendary war to prevent him from destroying the Earth. This ceremony of offering her part of the possessions as a token of gratitude for having saved our lives will be followed by a pompous fest. I'm pleased to announce that this year, my son, Prince Navin will do the offering."
Everyone gasped. Prince Navin was the ideal Prince Charming in everyone's mind, and seeing him do the offering will be a surreal sight to the people. He seldom showed him face to the public except for annual events like the Eclipse Reaping and the April Solstice.
The Prince held a plate that looked rather heavy to me as he descended down to the fountain. There were different kinds of flowers, fruits, gold and so many other things I couldn't see thanks to the people in front of me standing up to see him. I was not going to see it anyway, so I looked down and played with my fingers.
I never wanted to come here. I knew I would be left alone like an unwanted, lost puppy. I didn't see why people from other kingdoms would come all the way to see this mundane procession. The only reason I came was because I had to meet my classmate and hand over some money for something at our school.
Afterthat, a junior group of singers I wished I was a part of, sang a melodious medley of songs. One of the singers in the group was the daughter of my father's old friends. My whole family knew that family except me. My brother and her brother had been pretty good friends as well; my family stayed over at their place a couple of times and vice versa. All before she and I were born. She still doesn't know that if our families ever bumped into each other, they would reunite as long lost friends. And yet, there she was, a popular girl with a great voice, and me, a girl with nothing. Hearing her sing made me jealous of her skills.
Fortunately, they are followed by a dance group which I didn't pay attention to, and then came another singing group with another friend. I made a mental note to go congratulate her for her amazing performance later. She actually notices me, so I feel comfortable to call her a friend.
The performances soon winded up, and we were allowed to go to the stalls and have a blast. Two more days of this. I'm not leaving my house after I get back. I got up and glanced at Angelica. I should probably tell her I was leaving. Just when I was about to open my mouth, she too got up and looked away at a friend. Too intimidated to talk, I left without telling her. She wouldn't miss me much anyway.
I could leave since I had finished the purpose of my visit, and headed to the exit. I saw a couple of hands waving at me and realized that they were a few friends from the carriage I take to school everyday. "Harriet! Hey! When did you come?" Sally asked.

Want me to lie like that?"
Why do you care about me? When we care about you you tell us that you don’t matter."
Just because I don't deserve it doesn't mean you don't.

I get the feeling it is.

It lacks something. Something that's the biggest factor of keeping it interesting. The main essence of the story.... Does that make any sense?

Perhaps, but not all writing has to have that. Just look at my journal. Nothing is terribly intriguing about that... granted, if you write a novel without that sort of essence, it's not good, but you're just recounting something from your life while putting it into a different context, so that's definitely acceptable then :)
