To-do List

• Fail Irish test
• Go to the library (if possible)
• Try not to jump in front of the trains
• Pack
• Complain, complain, complain
• Get some sleep today, or else people will start saying that I look sick and stuff (which I am)
• Cut (?)

Alia ~you are not your anxiety~ (aliaongoodreads) | 1727 comments Hi Hallie!

I'm so glad you're feeling confident about your English exam! Yay, 101%! One of my favorite grades haha XD
On a more negative note (sorry) has your teacher left? :( I hope it'll turn out alright for you.
I haven't talked about English class in a while (well I did on my journal but more broadly). It's going well! We're in a unit corresponding to Black History Month. Still in the process of being told how to write a paper. I'm not feeling good because we're getting one part of an essay back tomorrow with feedback, and mine wasn't mentioned as one of the better ones... I feel like I was too vague or rambling. But ah well. Can't hit it out of the park every time, even in English.

Have a good trip! :D

okay, what else can I do on GR? Someone is not wanting to write her lab report

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Alia! Well, it's impossible to get that though, because my school doesn't give a single mark more than 96 in languages even if every single answer is immaculate. It's a rule apparently.

Nope, not yet. I think she will finish this school year, but I'm not sure.

Oh it's fine! I'm pretty sure you did your best, and that's what counts :)

Thank goodness you told that to me because I'm being very paranoid and keep imagining my train having an accident :/

Haha xD

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Alex! He said thank you :) Wait, let's not talk about missing people. I'm going to get a data pack and be on my phone all week.

Although the signal at that house is very, very, very weak, so I'll probably have to sit outside all week for it to work well.

Yes, people. I spent my grandpa's funeral trying to figure out which spot in the house has the best reception. I had company, too.

Aw man :( What kind of rule is that?! I wouldn't be surprised if your school is secretly the South Pole and mine is the North Pole. That's how different they are with grading. Extra credit here is just insane. At least with some teachers.

Omg I hope she does!! That way we can still talk English classes without me making you too jealous. I wouldn't want that.

Yeah... we'll see. Lol. I guess there's a reason we're getting feedback. And it's not like I got fancy writing tutors while everyone else had to use the silly template that doesn't teach you how to write. I guess a slip up is excusable. Although someone told me to change my hook for the reader at the start to another kind of hook, and people qho used that type got praised yesterday. I should have! I just didn't want to use the same thing as everyone else. I should learn that sometimes that's the best call.

Aw no :( *hugs*

message 6028: by Hallie (new)

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Extra credit works in Biology, but pretty rare and mostly an unfair way. It's really annoying that English teachers can't give full marks. Once I wrote an entire page in my tiny handwriting with quality too, but the teacher had to cut one mark. So according to our system, perfect answers get one mark less than the actual value, and other answers are awarded points according to their substance value. It's weird. My old school didn't have this :/

It's fine! There could be other great teachers for next year, and I'll enjoy English class anyway because it's English. :D

Haha :D Well, it's great to try something different, but I can understand your reason not wanting to do the same. If everyone does the same thing, then that becomes more cliche and loses its potency.

Just my over-imaginative head. Hopefully, since there are other passengers.

Oh really? I have it in bio as well, but it's pretty fair. Although you could call it unfair because it mainly rewards the best students for doing well. Maybe she didn't like your handwriting! Lol jk. That's annoying though sorry :( If you meet and elaborate on the requirements and your writing flows well then it should be a 100!
We have one really harsh English teachers who teaches upperclassmen though. They never give out A's. One of the smartest people in an upper grade is getting a high B. Idk, part of me wants to come in and actually get As because my writing is that good by that point. XD But honestly, if I get over the perfectionism, suggestions would be the best.

True! Hold on! Hallie, you are being positive! You can do it! You always say you can't.

Okay scratch that, Mr. Knox really liked it. I'm waiting for the "oh Alia" with groans XD I've found in science it's a better idea to follow the crowd. English not so much. I guess that's what I love about it besides the writing part.

Well I'm with you, I thought my introduction was horrible. Okay, I'll start failing all my classes before I let Hallie's train blow up.

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Sara, can I say that GCSE is the crappiest thing existing after dysfunctional brains and tomatoes? I nearly failed Physics, too, so if that makes you feel better..... I suck at Physics and Chemistry as well, but Geography is fine.

message 6042: by Hallie (new)

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Alia, my teacher gave it to those who did a presentation on *drumrolls* Biomolecules! Trust me that is a really boring chapter and those that did the presentation did not understand the content themselves. Well, the last time I volunteered to do a presentation was in year 7 in History and I don't want to do it again unless I really have to (like my friends' lives depended on it), and only ten people can do it in total. So out of, let's say, a 100-ish students (yes, so many in Biology! We have a huge classroom, too), only ten can do a presentation and only those people can get any credit. There could be others who are interested, but they were denied the opportunity, so I think it's a bit unfair.

Lol my handwriting could be the reason! xD It's so bad. But the rule still exists, so even if I improve (wait, that's impossible), I'll still be stuck with lesser than what I expect. My teacher in my old school was stricter, but I have got 100's a couple of times there (everyone else's hardest English papers are the ones I top in), so this rule is ugh... Haha I'm sure you could get an A for sure.

Oh wait, how is that possible??? I eat, drink and breathe pessimism! xD Just imagine how much I should like it if I'm willing to be positive about it. But candidly, it's super simple to get noticed I'm English because my classmates are always sleeping. It's the kind of attention I don't mind - good job, that's the right answer - so I just like it.

Told ya! xD Lol! Well, while you do have a point, creativity in Science gets recognized even more. This year, one of my classmates made a working model in Physics, and all the other classes were jealous and the my class got some fame other than 'the dead class'. However, in general, yes, you're right. It's mostly better to follow the bandwagon. But the best part about English is that creativity is a requirement, not just something you only for fun. If you aren't creative, your writing is a little less special unless you're talented enough to spin a boring and overrated idea into something amazing (oh no, wait, you are talented enough to do that, Alia!).

Yay this train will never blow up then xP
