In my part of the world (Denmark) advent is actually the 4 sundays before Christmas - we have 4 candles, and light 1 on the first Sunday, 2 on the second etc...

I bought 24 small gifts for my mother - she doesn't really care what is in them, but is as exited about opening them as if I had paid a million *LOL*
