Maggie (magwag) | 16 comments I am looking for a book that I read in the early 2000's. I suspect it is a 90's publish. I remember very little about the book, except that it was a kind of scary/mystery teen book (found in the older-kids section of my library, next to the YA section), with a possible possession or haunting theme that revolved around (I think) teens getting a crescent moon mark on their foreheads at the time of possession. There was also possibly an island involved, although I may be making this up from Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. There were realistic drawings of teens pictured on the cover, if I remember correctly, and the style/look of the cover illustration, and possibly the style of the writing, reminded me of R.L. Stine's teen series, T*witches, and Meg Cabot's 1-800 series. I've looked for this book for many years, and have even looked book-by-book in my library where I first found it and checked it out, and have had no luck! Make my dreams come true Goodreads!

Daughters of the Moon series by Lynne Ewing - suggested by Kristin - https://www.goodreads.com/series/4083...

Maggie (magwag) | 16 comments Definitely not Marked, but the Daughters of the Moon covers do look familiar (although not like I remember the cover looking). I'm going to check the first one out and start reading and see if that's it!

Fear Street: The Cataluna Chronicles series by R.L. Stine - https://www.goodreads.com/series/4143... - suggested by Aurora

Maggie (magwag) | 16 comments Doesn't look like it's those, but I'm glad you mentioned them because it looks like I'd like to read them sometime! Thanks

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments What time period/location did the story take place?
Part of a series?
What country were you in when you read this book?

Krystal (00krystal) | 132 comments You mentioned you checked it out - do you remember when you checked it out roughly? It does differ from library to library, but if your library uses a digital system, it often retains your circulation history. I've found a few books that way, just slogging through my old records of what I've checkout out until I found what I was looking for.

Maggie (magwag) | 16 comments It was a contemporary, so it took place in the 90's. I'm from the United States. I remember it being a stand-alone book, but for all I know it could be a series. Based off of my memory, I checked it out roughly 11 or 12 years ago, maybe longer. Unfortunately, my local library doesn't have the circulation history from that far back online! I'm going to be back home from school soon and fully plan on going there ASAP though and seeing if any of the librarians might be able to help me look for it hopefully!

Maggie (magwag) | 16 comments It was not the Daughters of the Moon series. I attempted to go it alone at the library and started looking book by book, to no avail. So I'm still trying to find this book!

Maggie, are you still looking for this or did you find it?

Maggie (magwag) | 16 comments I am still looking for this book! I am thinking though that it may never be found, if it was such an obscure ya book, probably now between 25-30 years old, I'm sure the library sold it =/

Pyra | 3 comments Could it be the Fear Games Thrillogy by R.L.Stine?

Maggie (magwag) | 16 comments Felix, thanks for your response! I looked up Fear Games and, while the cover doesn't look familiar, the plot does sound close enough to what I may be remembering to check it out. As soon as the library opens back up, I'm going to check it out and see if it's a match!

Felix's suggestion of Fear Games by R.L. Stine looks promising.

Introduction: "It's about a girl named April Powers who joins eleven other kids on a tropical island. The kids are there to play survival games - for a prize of $100,000."

"Katherine brushed back her daughter's light brown hair. The blue birthmark on Decorah's right temple came into view. The small, perfect crescent. The blue sliver of a moon.
"I have always called you Moon Child," Katherine murmured. "You were born under a crescent moon, Deborah, just like the one on your forehead."

Maggie (magwag) | 16 comments Kris you have completely convinced me now!!! I think this MUST be it! I wish I could check the book out right now to read it and remember.
I am very confident that this is a match and I am SO happy!! Please go ahead and move this thread and add the book as found. Thanks everybody for your help!!
