Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments I think I'm going to read Death Comes to Pemberley for my 7th book.

She has two small children so it will count for the 3 pointer on sheet 3 with one on the way so if she pops it out we can upgrade to 5 pts.

message 502: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments lmao Marnie. I'll place it on the chart when you've read it then.

message 503: by Helen (new)

Helen Southall (hsouthall) | 181 comments Sarah/Marnie - I think you missed my post where I said I was going to listen to Carrie and Me: A Mother-Daughter Love Story for Sheet 3 - Having a baby. This is the story of Carol Burnett and her daughter. The labor and birth are part of the story.

Want me to do something different?

Also, I picked up Candlelight Christmas from the library yesterday. Works for sheet 3 family reunion for 5 points. Will fit that in also if it helps.

message 504: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Ooh. Helen, yes you are placed in that spot for a character gives birth so Marnie I'll pop you under it for has a child under 4 years.

Hmm we could pop it under reunion but it would be worth 3 points unless it comes under another catorgory?

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments Lynn wrote: "Ah, when I looked yesterday I was convinced that 'read a book where a car or driving plays a part' so had started The Art of Racing in the Rain for it, as I wanted to try and get us..."

Sorry Lynn, I wasn't thinking I'd be able to use that book for a 5 pointer. I assumed it would be an extra.

I won't be reading another book about a dog though, so that one is all yours! :)

message 506: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments Though I think j-mom would be happier with your book in the slot rather than mine!

Lynn | 2987 comments Pesky work has got in the way of my reading today ::pouts::

(and I'm still there with no end in sight ::double pouts:: )

message 508: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments How rude!

These topplers should be official holidays so we don't have any interruptions. :)

message 509: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments My work allowed me to read today! And I'm really enjoying my book, yay :)

message 510: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments I'm going to start a 4th book (didn't expect that), which can be used for 'Lose Your Job
5 – read a book where the main character takes up a new occupation' - sheet 3: Some Like It Hot-Buttered.

message 511: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments I'm starting The Picture of Dorian Gray on audiobook, which is an unanticipated read. It can be used for 'Sheet 3 - horror'.

Other than that, I think I will finish 3 more paper books. Two are from my original 7 and I'll add The Bridal Wreath too. I think it will work for 'Sheet 3 - wedding'. As soon as I finish it I'll know for sure whether there is an actual wedding or not.

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments I'm going to take on another book. lol all of them are ya dystopian lol. I'm currently reading Catching Fire for Young Adult. Will be reading Allegiant for one word title and would like to take the 3 pointer dystopian on life 3 and read Noughts and Crosses.

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments I'm house sitting with no cable so there isn't much else to do. :)

message 516: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Well haven't y'all been busy while I was away.

52 books- wow!

I am about to start my 7th book Death Comes to Pemberley- well I will start that tomorrow- I am heading to bed.

message 517: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'll finish my first book today, yay! I can try to fit in a second one. I have three short and probably quick reads on my ereader, but I'm not sure if they fit any of the categories we still have open. The books are The Housekeeper and the Professor, Stargirl, and A Redbird Christmas.

message 518: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2987 comments Before I start rushing off reading something, is there any slots we are worried about on sheet 1 (or even sheet 2)? Is there anyone who doesn't think they'll complete the books they've been given or is there anyone who's been a no show this week?

message 519: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Peggy, I loved Star girl. It was the first book I took out of my senior school library. You go ahead and read that and I'll put you on my spot YA =]

message 520: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I don't want to get in the way of your reading plans Sarah. Are you sure you can still read something you want to read?

message 521: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Yep I'm sure =] my book will fit in another slot.

Lynn- very nice and smart of you to think of that. I think we have heard from everyone that they are working on their books. I imagine Sarah will need to shuffle a few when the week is over but I can't say which .

Sarah - message 78 on reporting thread. Just want to make sure I slot Annette's book correctly.

message 525: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments I still haven't finished my 5th book nearly there then 1 left. But I have such a bad headache I'm getting an early night and hope my head's better in the morning.

message 526: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments I have a 2 year old son so Death Comes to Pemberley def qualifies.

It can be hard to determine if a book will meet the requirements until after you read it!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their books. We are in the Home Stretch now.

message 527: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Feel better Sarah

message 528: by Lilisa (new)

Lilisa | 2770 comments My first book Mornings in Jenin was the best- 5 stars. It went downhill from there. But it was fun cramming five books in these past few days with not much sleep - work does get in the way. If a miracle happens and I can read one more, I'll try, but doubt it given my schedule the next couple of days, which is why i wanted to get these read by this evening - and was able to - yah! Happy down to the wire folks.

message 529: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Have finished and reported for my book 3 - Confections of a Closet Master Baker: One Woman's Sweet Journey from Unhappy Hollywood Executive to Contented Country Baker.

I've been away the past 3 and 1/2 days with my husband and our dog. We love our not-much-to-look-at beach. Sometimes jokingly referred to as the "Texas Riviera."

Seaweed over-growth problem is continuing and getting worse... probably due to climate/pollution/environment related.

But any way, about 70% done with my book 4. 20% with book 5. Free time all day tomorrow, and expect to finish both. Saturday morning will be for coffee and chocolate croissant and knocking off book 6.

I'm trying to keep up with posts but have fallen a bit behind (travelling a lot lately and not good internet access).

Great job, Lilisa! I've got 3 completed, 2 in progress, and 1 short one to go before Saturday morning. Hoping I can finish up all!

message 532: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Since I have to work tomorrow until 5 pm (and the toppler ends 6 pm my time), I think I won't be able to read any more than the book I'm now reading. I think I will be able to finish that fine. Than it will be 4 books in total for me - 1 more than I thought!

I haven't looked at the progress of the other teams, but I think we all did a amazing job, reading so many books in just 1 week!

message 533: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Hi guys! Wow I have a lot of posts to catch up on. Looks like you've all been doing a great job getting lots read! I haven't read through everything yet and I might have to wait a bit so I can catch up on my reading! I only managed to read 1 book while I was away. I have started my second read The Gunslinger for Life 1, "Get married" and fingers crossed I'll finish it but I'm not 100% sure yet - will keep you posted.

That really sounds like an amazing holiday!

message 537: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments For sure Esbeth.

Sarah/Marnie - It might be best to move my fantasy read under "Get Married" to Life 3 and Melissa's completed read of the same category to Life 1 just in case I don't manage to finish my book. I have the whole of today off with nothing to do and a little bit of tomorrow although I have my parents popping in briefly and I need to do food shopping and other boring things you have to do upon returning from holiday. I'm going to read like the wind.

message 538: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2987 comments Ok, I finished Four Seconds to Lose which I'm hoping we'll be able to use for Graduation - Read a book where someone is unemployed, sheet 3

However I'm waiting for ruling from Jmom, otherwise it will be for my read any book on sheet 2

message 540: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments We'll see how you go Sarah, I may have to do some shuffling about at the end anyway.

Lynn that's great it it qualifies =D

Oh and Peggy, I don't think I'm going to get to read my Retire book for a one word title. But I still have my 2 YA dystopians on the go, so I hope it's okay if I move Stargirl to the one word title? And take the YA slot.

message 541: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I don't mind at all where you put me for Stargirl Sarah :)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments How is everyone doing with their books? I am currently reading my 6th one, I was going to try and read a 7th but I just don't think it's going to happen.

Annette how are you doing with yours? Read a book with a big party and a child under 4 are still left for you. Think you can finish them both?

Dawn, 2 are still showing for you as well, a character gives birth and a book about a dog, are those still okay?

Angie how are you doing with yours? war/civil war and YA book.

Let me know if you've already done any of these I may have just missed them.

I think the rest of us have 1 book left or have finished =] Doing guuud.

message 544: by Marnie (last edited Jun 13, 2014 07:30AM) (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Sarah- I love dolphins and am so glad you had a chance to see them!

Lynn- fingers crossed. I read about the book on the ? Thread- I think we will be fine...but I crossed my toes too :)

Sarah Jigz- we will def be doing a shuffle - I will help however I can. Idk if the last page on the document is helping you stil but I am on my 7th book not my 5th. If it was just for organizing than nbd I just didn't want it messing up your final count any.

An example of a shuffle. My life 2 lottery book can be used for get a divorce if Angie can't get her book completed ( just an example) I'm betting lots of our books could have dual categories.

Happy reading y'all.

I just finished the child under 4 and will have the big party book read by tonight. Good thing I only committed to 5 books though. It's been a crazy week.

I'll have a hard time topping 12 books for the next toppler!! :)
Especially as I am eventually going to run out of short Agatha Christie books to listen to.
