OMG Dawn. How do you come up with those? I am no good at thinking up names =O I second that Elsbeth, I quite like Chattering Book Addicts.Oh I was going to ask, does anyone in particular want to do the planning? I love the planning so just wondering what people want to do?
I'm all for you planning Sarah, you did the most amazing job last time! I'm happy to be in your team again :D I'd be happy to think along with planning, but I won't have internet access during the first 3 or 4 days of the toppler.
I think my favorite is Paper Pushers.I`m personally happy to have someone else organize. I`ll just volunteer for 7 books over the week and you put me in where ever it works best, I`ll find something to read for any challenge.
Thanks Peggy =] It was pretty fun. We can start planning this weekend by the sounds of things. So during the actual toppler I think it'll be okay.Wow Dawn 7 books.. awesome!
How many books does everyone else wish to read for the toppler? I'm thinking of 3 or 4 this time. But it may be more, all depends on what I can find.
I've not played the Game of Life, but I'm guessing that Birth, School/Studying,First Love, Marriage, Pregnancy stuff like that is going to come up. So I'm looking for books with Life things. What about you guys, do you have any books with these sorts of themes available?
I have never even heard of the game of life! Is it a sure thing already that this will be the theme?Oh! Or is it a board game? Perhaps it's the same as a Dutch board game I played in the past.
It shouldn't be a problem to find a fitting book, but I'm afraid I can read only one. I leave for a 3-day music festival on the 7th and return on the 10th, and have fulltime workdays from Wednesday to Friday. I'm sorry I can't contribute much! Luckily we have Dawn ;-)
I vote for Chattering Book Addicts. Sarah- I think it's great that you like to plan and are willing to keep us on track!
I'm more than happy to report our reads or whatever the team needs.
Once we hear what the categories are I will figure out how many books I can get through- depending on page numbers etc. I usually can read between 5-6.
Btw Peggy- one book can be the difference! Whatever everyone can contribute is appreciated. I like our team!
The first one for Wedding that comes to mind is Wedding in December, not a bad book but kinda depressing. Other Life Tile are for Voting, Becoming a Grandparent, Mayor, Learn CPR, Plan a fundraiser, Buy a House. I think my cousin still has my game so thats off the top of my head.Sarah I'm up for 7 as well, though I may be able to do more if needed.
I think teams will really wotk for this one, that way we can figure out all the 5point books. I'm excited! ^_^
I believe many chicklit and romance books have weddings in the end. And I recently read Divine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood which also has a wedding in it. I didn't like the book so much though, and it's not very short either.
Peggy: I googled it a few days ago, it looks like a board game. No idea how you play it but those are things I just guessed as I read somewhere the game mimics things you go through in real life.. And no worries about 1 book, it's still helpful for the team =DMarie: That sounds good Marnie about keeping a report once the toppler begins =] 5-6 is awesome too. Lots of books are going to get read.
June: Ooh interesting okay. I bet there are so many catergories in the game, I can't wait to see what Jmom has come up with. That's great June =D

I'm going to try and pick relatively short ones for this, aiming for under 300 pages, that way I should be able to read more. I've only done one toppler before but I think there is a general page minimumm isn't there? I think it was 150 last time? Or something like that.
The Game of Life is a board game. You have a little car and you spin the wheel and move around the board. You get married/divorced/widowed and have kids and get or lose a career and buy a house and upgrade your car and a whole variety of other things. You move forwards or backwards on the board depending on where you land, I haven't played it since I was a kid but I remember it being quite fun.
It is a board game. for the most part there's one path, a few places it splits and two where you have a choice, then it comes back together. When you start you either take the college path or career path. Basically the career path skips to the"pick a career" stop sign. Every space says something, some a life experiences that give you Life Tiles(life tiles have money amounts you add up at the end), some spaces are things you get money for or unexpected bills. One is the college spaces is "Need to study for exam, miss a turn". So once you get past the college section, there's the stop sign where you pick your career and salary. College and Career people are now on the same track, the next stop sign is "Get Married", after that is "Buy a House", so you pick a house. No more stop signs after that, and the game ends when you get to retirement. You guess whether you won, who even has the most money from work plus the amounts on the Life Tiles that have stayed secret. Funny things, Car insurance and Home insurance is optional in the game but there are several spaces that make you wish you had them. "Tornado wrecks house, pay this amount". Some people end up with two card full of kids because they hit every have a baby space, then land on a daycare space which charges per child. You can by a stock ticket and that gives you money when the spinner lands on your number. If you pick police for your career (three career choices for each player), players that get the highest roll have to pay you a speeding fine.
Haha OMG this actually sounds like quite a fun game. I have to play this for real at some point. Thanks for the info =]
Hi all - just a heads up, although I'm excited for my first team toppler, as I said earlier in the other thread -- I'm hoping I can participate depending on when the toppler runs because of my crazy schedule. Can someone enlighten me -- what are the dates? I have no clue how this team thing works so I'll be looking for direction when this gets kicked off! Hoping I can participate! Sorry to have missed all the chatter over the past few hours - sounds like a great team and thanks for all the organizing you all have done already - I like CBA!
June 7-14 won the poll so I assume that is the dates we're looking at. Once we know what the challenge guidelines are, we'll all be a little more enlightened as to what we're doing for this toppler. Right now, we're mostly guessing. :)
I wanted to vote for CBA..what a great name! Also I can comfortably read 5 books...and 2 or 3 more if needed. I can't wait.
I got very confused then flicking into this thread wondering why on earth you were all calling yourselves the Commonwealth Bank of Australia... Scrolling up helps sometimes :P Good luck with your planning and name choosing Team C!
Welcome Roz !!!We are still working on our team name. Right now
Chattering Book Addicts is leading....
Rusalka- we are just killing time thinking about our name until J'mom gives us more info. Then the real confusion will start :)

Thanks a ton Dawn! I missed seeing it, so great to be in the know now. Good news is I can participate, and bad news is I might be able to fit in a only a couple most likely given my workdays (into a couple of evenings that week) but I will do my darnedest so read like a fiend! :-) maybe I'll be able to sneak in more on the weekend. Can't wait - this all new to me!
Hello Annette and Lilisa =] *waves*Anne: That's awesome that you can read 5 books for the team and additional if needs be =D
Lilisa: I think you'll love the toppler. This is my second one now, and I love the first one. I didn't join in for the 24 hour one, but may do next time. I love these week long ones =] And no matter how mnay books you can get in, it still counts. Even getting one in will be good for the team so no worries =]
Thanks Sarah! I did do the 24-hour - pretty straightforward - read like crazy to the exclusion of everything else. That was easy as I was on vacation and was able to finish one book (slacker!). I was envious of others who managed more! This team reading is going to be fun and interesting - mods here are rather inventive and fun - hats off to them!
1 book is good, also you were on vacation, having fun no doubt =DIt will be really fun, I really loved the last one. I really can't wait to find out whats been planned *jumps up and down* too excited lol. I know they are amazing =]
Hey guys, just popping in to say hello. I've been busy over the past couple of days (hence my lateness) but will be home all day tomorrow to discuss. I'm a fairly fast reader so you'll probably get about 7 books out of me.
I'm also an organiser so happy to help out with anything, but if you've already got it covered then no worries :)
I'll be back tomorrow to discuss more!
