The headmaster chained him down. "I will be back in an hour with what comforts you'll need to survive. I will make regular visits with potential dragons in mind."
The headmaster stooped and pulled Anya up into his arms. She looked pathetic, clothes and skin cut everywhere from the beating, rope sunken into her neck, which made it bleed. Her eyes seemed... dead.
"Oh dear, I'm afraid she's already gone," the headmaster teased, although she was still alive. He let Adam consider that for a moment before walking for the exit. "No, she lives, but barely."

He laughed, the door slamming shut behind him, leaving Adam in darkness.
Anya was taken to the hospital and placed on a bed, where the giant healing dragon((Rock)) instantly took care of her outer wounds, but demanded she stay for a few days, her throat injuries extensive, and the blood loss great.

He grinned, walking out. Time to find some dragon he might agree to bond with. Or lie about one.
He sighed into the pitch blackness, and leaned his head against the stone. It wasn't like he was going anywhere if he wasn't chained to a rock... He could already feel the effects f the healing dragon wearing off. Perhaps that would be a nice surprise for the headmaster, to find that his new soldier was quite possibly paralyzed from the waist down.
"You might like to know that the girl's expected to make a full recovery. Oh, by the way, you have three days to live, unless you decide on a bond."
"Ah-Huh..." The three days without food might be a problem, seeing as he hadn't really eaten much today...
"Oh, those are the days when I actually come down for your answer for the day. Then you can just rot."
"At the end of three days, I'll make your position clear, cut you all over so your death is slow, but not too slow, and then leave you for time to take care of -as well as the rats."
"What I mean is, I expected you to use the bond to force me into bonding again. I forgot about your cowardice."
"Oh, a forced bond isn't usually as powerful as one where those are willing or ignorant of the consequences."
"I am not willful, or ignorant of the consequences. And is not threatening me with starvation and death the same as forcing me through the bond?"
"It's the action of choosing. Your choice to sacrifice your freedom for Anya's life, that was your willingness."
