Where can you recommend. In late June.
Last year we went to New York and Florida. But I remember someone was talking about Cozumel. Has anyone been?is there a lot to do? How long should we stay? and where? I only have 2 weeks holls.

Cozumel is amazing and never dangerous. Cancun sucks. Skip it. I'm very familiar, feel free to contact me. We live in central Texas, halfway between San Antonio and Austin. Great location to do Schlitterbahn and surrounding areas and you're welcome anytime.

And if you decide on cozumel use cheapcaribbean.com. We like the Iberostar Cozumel. Great place and all inclusive.

I will say Cancun/Cozumel is not a place you explore outside the area. Cozumel is an island so it's fine but you don't want to explore Cancun. Also ceck out Isla Mujeres. Safe, gorgeous, but more $$$ than Cozumel.

I know there are safer places in Mexico, though I can't say which. The Cartel is basically a big mob type group that reside in Mexico. The stories I've heard from people from there are pretty insane. However, some areas are considered safer, away from the border. I'm just clueless which ones.

The islands are the safest bet. I'd still go to Cancun (it's just personal preference that I don't), but I wouldn't do the excursions. Anytime we go, we stick to the resort. There's plenty to do there. Although to be honest, coming from Australia, I'm not sure why anyone would want to go. I'd imagine Australia to be just as beautiful if not more so beach-wise. Especially since you don't get that Mexican feel at the resorts. We have more of that here than they have there.

That being said, I wouldn't: stay on the east coast, rent a car, do an excursion or leave the resort--unless I'm on an island like Cozumel or Isla Mujeres. In those cases, I feel safe no matter what. The last time my husband went, he rented a jeep and they went all over the place--on the island.

We don't get the news about that Australia but thanks for letting me know.

They died from a gas leak. It wasn't foul play. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wash...

Thanks Robin, I think it was you who was talking about going there maybe a year ago. But, I was trying to get the feel of the country you know, food, culture and atmosphere by not just staying on the island. Australia does have fantastic beaches so It doesn't have to be beachy. Where would you suggest. Fast paced is good. Shopping is good, we like visiting places. And learning about the country. New experiences. 2 of the girls finish their Uni courses so it's probably our last fam holiday. I thought maybe New Orleans.
I really thought Mexico looked fantastic. I was so excited. Not to sure what to do now. It's about 20 hours from Melbourne. So it's a long flight.
Melinda what about something once in a life time like Machu Picchu or the Galapagos?

Maybe something in North America. There's so much to see and so little time. Decisions, decisions.

Then I definitely would not suggest Mexico. We have friends who have a house in Merida and I hear that is a safe area, but I still wouldn't be comfortable exploring outside of it. Have you considered Costa Rica? You'll get the Latin America experience, the beaches, and the jungle all in one. We stayed about 4 days near Arenal (volcano) and did ziplining in the jungle, then drove several hours and stayed on a black sand beach for 4 more. It was amazing. You can get a GPS with your rental and drive yourself if you want. The beach was nice, but I'm a jungle girl. If we go back I'd spend the whole time there.

I have a loved one who just left this morning for Mexico on their honeymoon who is fully aware of the situation there. They will be staying on property at all times and it isn't their first time in Mexico. As far as the family dying of gas, I don't believe it for one second. For one thing it's hotter than hell down there and most of the places you rent brb's don't have air conditioning off property. Even the nicest top shelf properties only have air conditioning in the rooms not the hallways so who is going to be firing up a stove to cook? Yes, I'm sure someone could bump the controls but hmmm when their have been numerous murders and I was just there 2 summers ago with my girlfriends and saw some very very sketchy things going on and I stayed at a 5 star 5 diamond resort. I have been numerous times and I will tell you it scared me. For the first time I saw locals being allowed into the property to party and they had money. That has never happened before. EVER!!! I also saw a very attractive girl pass out who was seemingly fine one minute and then she was carried off. The morning we were leaving we had to get up around 3 am to head to the airport and witnessed some very nefarious stuff going on with men and I was never so happy to see our driver and get out of there. I could get very detailed on the stories but I don't want to right now. I have friends who have had to pay ransom for their kids.
Cabo is fun but I've heard the cartel is moving in there also but I have friends who are still going and I probably would go again until American's and shootings start showing up in the clubs there.
If you decide to go to New Orleans the Florida panhandle beaches in Destin, Rosemary beach are the prettiest beaches in America. They are as soft and white as powdered sugar and the water is warm and emerald green. You could see the Blue Angels fly in Pensacola where the are based. Lot's of fun things to do. The beaches are just a 3-4 hour drive from New Orleans.

I'm no help. I've only been to Florida, Nevada, California (of course), and Mexico. Which, after typing that, I really need to plan a vacation after my niece's wedding. lol Some new state to visit.

You're always welcome here! And don't forget the retreat in August! 🤠

But we are not going to Mexico.
Thankyou for all the info.
Also Costa Ricca is too expensive for the 5 of us from Australia so can’t go there.
We went to New York and Florida last year. Sooo, I still would like to go some where else in the USA.
But my daughter has her formal on Thursday so we are organising that at the moment since I ordered a dress online at the beginning of March and it hasn’t arrived. Maybe a backup plan is needed.
As long as the cofffee is good. My hubby will be happy anywhere.
I will keep you updated.

Has all these places marked in Melbourne that makes the best coffee and gets the coffee run on his way to work.
So as long as we can find good coffee. He can be kidnaped or whatever. But if he gets his coffee he'll be happy. 😜😜

Naturally several holds arrived at the same time. I now have:

Now the problem of which one do I read first?

Ha you posted at the same time lol
Great minds❣️"
Hehehe If that hadn't have been on the list, I would have said Lake Silence. It really was that good.

Butttt...Dearest Ivie is short--only 145 pages. I'd 'get that out of the way' first.
