Wow! Myra and Annie you guys are really good!! Seriously where are you guys pulling the titles from? Lol! Either way the book sounds really good!! I'm definitely up for that one!
I agree with Josen. Must be some telepathy going on. O_oI've never heard of it, but it does sound good.
Click here for the must read fantasy/sci-fi list that I first saw our May 2017 book on
Also, I am updating the first entry with our current standings.

I wanted to mention, too, that this one stuck out because I searched "Top Fantasy Stand Alone Books" and Sunshine was on several lists.
Guessing coming soon! My last few picks seem to have been a bit lackluster. I am going to have to ramp up my book finding criteria for June!
I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai
Well, I just read the other email, and now feel that my guess is completely off base... lol. It's been a long day and not a lot of coffee....

How young are we talking? For the purpose of this club, young adult is about the lowest I would go.
Okie dokie artichokie! I'm a children's librarian, so I read lots of children's books. Thought I might have a bit of an advantage if you were choosing a kids book to lighten the mood, but since you aren't, I'll try a different line of attack.... Before I get away from it completely, though, is this pick a young adult book?
And, I know some books walk the line between YA and adult . . . I am pretty sure there is no way this could be mistaken as YA.

Ooooh - I worry answering that might give too much away - eliminating half of all books! ;)
How about this . . . whether the author is a man or a woman does relate . . .

Not hearing much from our usual guessers . . .
Another hint - I went to the David Letterman show in 2000 and this author was a guest.

Lol I can see all the Googling being done on this.
An Object of Beauty by Steve Martin or one of Carrie Fisher's? Postcards from the Edge, Wishful Drinking, The Princess Diarist?
Nice guesses Kandice, but no.
One thing to remember when thinking about your guess is what I said when Annie asked me about the sex of the author . . ..

You said it mattered, yes?
The Duchovny guess is not close, but more on the right track.
Another clue - the cover of the book is a photograph, not a drawing/artwork.

Feel This Book: An Essential Guide to Self-Empowerment, Spiritual Supremacy, and Sexual Satisfaction
Another clue for anyone working the David Letterman angle. I was disappointed that there was no musical guest.
Hmm - No guesses after that last clue . . .
Okay, since this has been going on a few days, I will let you know that the author is male.

Not an overall life memoir, but a retrospective on parts of it.

Annie is the winner! The book is Dad is Fat by Jim Gaffigan!
I saw him May 18, 2000 on Letterman with Jackie Chan . . . but no musical guest :(
