Lol yes horror books can be considered thrillers but not the other way around right? Finally I got something right! Yay! Hahaha! Okay, soooo..............is this a new-ish book? Or years old?

Oh, dang! It actually almost was . . . that is a great guess! I looked at that one long and hard but decided on another one . . .

Hmmm.........okay, let's see what can I ask.........is it a popular author in that genre? Like a Koontz? Or someone a little more obscure?

Another great guess! I will say that the selection has never been a nominee for a Goodreads Choice Award.
WE HAVE A WINNER! Congrats Michelle - Children of the Dark is our January 2017 selection.
Thanks to everyone for playing! :)

I don't even guess anymore, I just want you brainiacs figure it out!Does anyone use Abe Books? I discovered it recently and they are super cheap. Going there now to buy Children of the Dark.
Ummm...maybe not. Cheapest one is $17 and the ebook is $18. I'll request it at the library, though. :)

Matthew wrote: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Everyone keep playing! Don't give up - we need all of you!"Lol!! I'll keep guessing but I'm just not quick enough. Everyone is great at just picking titles. I think I'm more a 20 Questions person. Lol! :)
That's a good one, Myra, or even one guess per clue. However, I suppose I am kinda sporadic with clues and often give more than one at a time.
I've actually never heard of the book or the author before ... I guess I just knew where to look ;) [I hope where I looked doesn't count as cheating or something, lol]

There is no cheating unless you can read my mind! :)

The jump to Bird Box was impressive as that is exactly what I was thinking!

Myra wrote: "I am going to use up 2 of my 3 guesses. Is it one of these?
1) Fatal Cure by Robin Cook
2) Seize the Night by Dean Koontz"
Nice guesses - both books I hope to read some day!
However, not the correct genre or format. I know your 3 guesses is your own restriction, so feel free to do more than that! :)

Matthew with Illuminae you gotta' read the physical book. It just adds to the experience.

Omg yes! Go to the library or bookstore and check it out. The whole thing about Illuminae is the format. It's written through emails, messages, schematics, dossiers, the layout of the writing.......totally cool!

Another good guess - both book and format - and, once you see what the final pick is you will realize your format is not that far off . . . but keep going!

I am hesitant to give another hint so soon! You have already started getting pretty close on your own!
I will post another one in bit! :)

DAAAAAAANG! You are good! It is a short story collection . . . and a movie was based on one of them (which was close with a book based on a movie) and that is THE CORRECT ANSWER!
You are good, Myra - I will have to start making this harder!

I love good short stories. Short stories are an art form and done well can be scintillating. Now I'm excited.
