Veil of Midnight, Lara Adrian – 10/3/16 – ✮✮✮✮✰

I finished

Death Takes a Lover 4 stars. Interesting setting and intriguing main character. The POV was ...strange and took some getting used to. The MC was intvestigating a crime. The book was took from his POV. However, when he interviewed people, their responses slowly slid into their POV. Instead of reading about them saying what happened, it was written through their POV. Strange, but I got used it. Good mystery. I will probably read the next book.
The Buckland-in-the-Vale and Sandstone Tor Gay Book Club. 3 stars John Wiltshire is one of my favorite authors. However, I didn't like this book much., mostly because I didn't like MC Adam at all. Not even a little bit. I didn't have any sympathy for his struggles with his role in his friend's death. I think he should struggle with it. Even though he feels this guilt over the way he treated his friend (although I'm not really certain he feels badly about his actions or just his friend's response to his actions), it hasn't prevented him from treating other people poorly, most specifically Rory. I think this book has a HFN ending, and not one I have a lot of faith in. Regardless of my feelings for MC Adam and the non-relationship with Rory, the book is well written, engaging, funny and has a bunch of great secondary characters.
Thanks for the picks!
