Don't worry ladies I'm sure TUA will be a successful nomination!
I will also just mention that we have 3 non Regency romances that we should consider reading in 2017 as we haven't done them as a group read yet. The Convenient Marriage, The Masqueraders & Beauvallet. I'll be honest & say it won't break my heart if we don't get to The Masqueraders as I found it very muddled.

Hmm, Hugo might go along with a three-way—we could always ask! There’s certainly enough of him to go around!
Seriously, though, Carol, we should definitely read the ones we haven’t read yet—even The Masqueraders, which I loved as a kid, though less so now (I’m a sucker for cross-dressing; Twelfth Night my favorite Shakespeare play.) The whole Hugo thing is just my riff.

Jan - The Black Sheep
Feb - Lady of Quality
Mar - Pistols for Two, Snowdrift
Apr - The Unknown Ajax (?)
May -
June -
July - Month off
Aug -
Sept - A GH mystery
Oct -
Nov -
Dec - month off
Is everyone happy with The Unknown Ajax for April. & for two months off? Is one mystery read enough or do we block in 2? I don't want to fill in the months too far ahead in case The Grand Sophy does get made.
Finally just bear in mind Beauvallet, The Masqueraders & The Convenient Marriage haven't been read yet & if we do a Regency read that will take 2.5 years. : )

Oh! I did like Envious Casca, and recently saw it listed in Bas Bleu under a new title, "A Christmas Party." I think there would be a lot of great discussion generated from that story. Although I remember a lot about the story, I did not remember that it took place around Christmas time...

I also forgot the Christmas angle - I was prompted to reread Envious Casca a couple years ago when it was listed with Mischief of the Mistletoe as a Christmas-themed historical mystery in the Shelf Awareness newsletter. I enjoyed it very much, but it's not really holly-jolly Christmasy, is it? Mischief was jolly good fun, though - have to hit the library and borrow that one again soon.

Just wondered ...

Yes it was. Discussed in the 2016 thread I think. Spoiler for both books (view spoiler)

Indeed, it is neither holly nor jolly! That must have been what made me forget the Christmas aspect.

Exactly - but I love the deliciously snarky young people at the house party, Heyer writes them and their witty dialogue very well!

Excellent. Lady of Quality is one of the books in my stack of Heyer used books I snagged a couple of months ago, so I'm definitely up for that one.
I'm also looking forward to one of Heyer's mysteries, so if there were two scheduled I would not mind at all. :) I quite enjoyed Death in the Stocks.

I don't own the next book on the list though, but will get it on kindle by February if I don't find a second hand paperback before then. I don't remember this one at all - if I have read it - it is many years ago.
I'm just reading The Reluctant Widow. I've only read the first chapter and so far it is not familiar at all.

I've delayed TUA by a month as non Regency reads here usually don't have the same amount of lively discussion, so I will want to break them up. I've added an extra mystery & gone back to just one month off.
I'll leave this up a couple of days & if no objections I will start a new thread. :)

Consensus but I'll be pushing hard for the 3 non Regency historical romances we haven't read yet - & the Grand Sophy if the film is released.

I will make more of an effort to join in the non-regencies this year. I haven't been good about that in the past.

:D
& thanks everyone!
It's not hard work at all! I enjoy it!

I'm feeling festive! Not festive and organised, but festive! :)
I have an idea for a new avatar too, but I thought I would let people get used to the new name first.

Is there a group read this month?

Is there a group read this month?"
No group read this month - a catch up month for everyone. But anyone who reading a Heyer we have already discussed is welcome to bring up the old threads. :)

& I'm back to the old name - for a while anyway.
Anyone else having withdrawal symptoms with no GH read this month? Just me?
I'll be putting up the threads for The Black Sheep a bit early as we are going "up north" to meet what are likely to be my daughter's future in-laws.
Hope everyone else has had a good Christmas. I loved my presents this year - both given & received. :)

Especially when you get the dates wrong! My daughter & I thought we were going up today (Chloe has already gone up) my husband thought tomorrow. NYE tomorrow & the traffic will be hideous! I've phoned & apologised. :/

Oh no! Never fear, I'm sure it will be a successful visit - and I will send positive karma your way that the traffic will be light...;) Travel safe and have a good weekend.
Really looking forward to diving into "Black Sheep" - one of my first Heyer's read so a sentimental favorite, along with being a lot of fun!

Oh no. Just think of how funny a story that will be for future grandchildren.
I can't wait to start Black Sheep. I've missed all my friends here!

I am looking forward to Black Sheep

*Bitterly* some of us are actually meant to be having summer. I'm going to have to put a jersey on - I'm cold!

I did just tell my grandgirl that, much as we're all dying for spring and bare earth, I really hope summer doesn't hit too fast. I don't even care if spring is wet (which is my usual complaint), as long as it warms up a bit! I hope you get some summer before it's too late, Carol!
