message 502: by Jay-me (Janet) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 131 comments I quite like Charity Girl - there are definitely ones that I like less than that one.

However I have recently read it, so I would vote for Bath Tangle as that is the next paperback I have lined up for when I have finished Convenient Marriage.

QNPoohBear | 1640 comments I can't remember Charity Girl but I don't think I liked it. I enjoyed all the others very much. Frederica is my favorite and I own it so I'm always ready for a reread.

Karlyne Landrum | 3895 comments Even after reading the synopsis, I barely remember it!

Hilary (A Wytch's Book Review) (knyttwytch) Frederica gets my vote!

Pamela Shropshire (pswap57) | 34 comments I just ordered/received The Nonesuch, but since it has no hope of winning, I'll vote for:

Frederica!

One of my top favorites. I never mind rereading it.

Pamela Shropshire (pswap57) | 34 comments That should say that I "never" mind rereading it!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ I'm going to call it now as a win for Frederica as our October read. :)

message 529: by Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ (last edited Aug 24, 2017 01:56PM) (new)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Yes, Frederica was always going to win - it is top of the list Louise S created.

If our new members haven't seen the list & would like to vote, here's the list.

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

From memory, Charity Girl has only been nominated once & April Lady & Bath Tangle haven't been nominated at all, which is quite telling. But as I said I'm fond of Giles & Nell & love the Bath setting in Bath Tangle.

I've worked it out approximately & April Lady & Bath Tangle will be read in 2019, Charity Girl in the first half of 2020. :)

Edited because I messed up the link.

message 530: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 2190 comments Holy God I'll be too old to see the book by then :):)

message 531: by Kim (new)

Kim Kaso | 511 comments It is good that books will get a read, not all are 1st tier Heyers, but it gives us a greater context.

message 532: by Lesley (new)

Lesley I've joined the wait list for Frederica. There are 10 others before me (popular!) so I hope I'll get it in time to read with the group rather than after. :)

Good to hear how popular GH still is though! My spare copy disintegrated or I would send it to you Lesley. :)

message 534: by Kim (new)

Kim Kaso | 511 comments For me, GH led to Jane Austen. For others, JA leads to GH, only so many JAs available. And although there is a rich field of JA pastiches, not all are worth the paper upon which they are printed. Candidates for road maintenance in Edinburgh, where I read in an Isabel Dalhousie book they use chopped up remaindered books--many of them romances--beneath the road topping.

Good to..."

It is all good but thanks for the thought. I get mine from Open Library ebook, so I can enlarge the print on my iPad which makes for a more comfortable read these days. Now I've found I can load their books on Bluefire on my iPad it is even better than reading online - and I get any illustrations too.

message 536: by Kim (new)

Kim Kaso | 511 comments This information about the roads then led to philosophical musings on Isabel's part, as nearly everything does.

Thanks for reminding me if this series, I read the first book and need to get back to Isabel again!

message 538: by Karlyne (new)

Karlyne Landrum | 3895 comments I like to read philosophical thoughts. Which is why Isabel is one of my favorite still-living characters...

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Sorry I checked why the reminder for Behold Heres Poison didn't work - & I had set it for September 2018 Sorry about that. Anyone who has their reminder set for 5 days should get it though.

Sorry about that!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & time to make our decision about our November read - our final group read of the year.

As usual this will be by consensus.:)

I am going to make a strong plea for Beauvallet If we don't read it this month, we won't read it as a group till some time in 2020.

But I don't want to completely kill the group if most of you don't like this title. Since Bath Tangle did so well in our last vote, I'm going to suggest this one as well. I think it will create some good discussion & as I remember there was some interesting information about Bath.

Finally I will put up The Great Roxhythe Whatever you do don't purchase the edition I linked to though. That is a nasty rip off of photocopied pages bound together. Anne & I both got taken.

So let the voting begin!

I vote for Beauvallet

message 549: by Susan in NC (new)

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 4147 comments I vote Bath Tangle because that's the only of the three titles I own! But I'll have plenty of time to pick up a copy of the other titles from the library if we go with beauvallet or roxhythe.

Thanks for keeping us organized, Carol.

message 550: by Barb in Maryland (new)

Barb in Maryland | 817 comments Beauvallet, please! I really love it and I really dislike Bath Tangle.
