Sophie | 1126 comments I'm generally not much of a Dystopian fan tbh. I just happened to quite like the Hunger Games. If it wasn't that my sister kept going on about it I don't think I'd have even read that!

Amber Martingale 11:53AM and I just finished posting a comment to the effect that Senator Rand Paul doesn't seem to give a f**k about the fact that "extinction is forever" in a letter to the greatest cesspool in the country, Congress, about his attempts to weaken the Endangered Species Act.

He drives me crazy, Amber. He doesn't have a clue on some things. I saw him on the today show with the Savannah Guthrie, and she was interviewing Rand and Rand was like, No! no!, you will ask me this. Why don't you ask me something? Savannah was like, Well, I am trying to ask you questions. Rand was like no, don't ask me that ask me this. His voice was raised the entire time. Loser. Way to go. Way to treat women. Later that evening he was on Fox News' The Kelly Report with Megyn Kelly and she was trying to defend Savannah, which is interesting because of their polar opposite political views, and Rand was raising his voice again and Megyn was having to shh him with her index finger over her lips. What is his deal. Oh, well, I shy away from politics here. This is for readers. I am talking about me, not you Amber.

Groovy Lee It's almost nine-thirty and I'm winding down from the French Open. I can't believe it's over that quickly. I also can't believe I have to wait an entire year to see it again. Anyway, bye.

Groovy Lee Amber, I hope you have your glucose tablets, or something loaded with sugar nearby, always.

A good friend of mine just lost her grown son from a diabetic coma. They found him lying in his apartment. My son has had it since he was 4.

So, please take care.

message 1521: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Karl: I ran out of my glucose tabs day before yesterday and I hadn't thought of grabbing a handful of mini candy canes from my fridge before I left my apartment yesterday.

Spent about 6 hrs. in the ED at the local hospital and I have a bruise the size of a standard can of soup, diameter-wise, on my left arm where the ambulance crew started an IV for 50% dextrose. My reading got up to 194 mg/dL after about 3hrs. in the hospital.

My pre-breakfast reading was 112 mg/dL...at approx 6:30 AM.

This said, it's 12:17 PM and I am wading through my email while answering posts on GR and playing Solitaire via greenfelt.net

message 1546: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I'm not gonna go watch it, E. since John Williams didn't do the music.

11:55 Am shivering because the library's A/C is on too high.

message 1547: by E. (new)

E. | 653 comments It was ok. It had it's moments. The characters were goofy but some of the scenes were ok. I don't really "go see" movies. It's probably been a year or more. I generally read for entertainment, or I might get redbox if I stop at walgreens, and enjoy my in-home surround sound. I prefer indie-type films, anyway.

message 1548: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale LOL.

message 1549: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 1126 comments 10:08 Just knocked back some flat diet Coke (it's strange but I really like flat, cold Coke for a hangover) now making a cup of tea, browsing my local library's online catalogue and watching Saturday Kitchen. Jason Donovan's food heaven and food hell have actually left me torn this week! Heaven - lobster curry, Hell - peach tart. It's a tough choice but I think I'd have to go with the Thai-style lobster curry :)

message 1550: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Why did he classify the Peach Tart as Food Hell? Just curious.

10:03 Am and wading through email. Also getting ready to log off so I can walk somewhere for a shuttle bus to a free community meal on the other end of town.
