3:30 am. Obviously I am awake and not able to go back to sleep, so checking Goodreads. Very cold with the wind howling and the streets are covered in ice. I've been attempting to take a day off from reading after finishing my yearly reading challenge, but not sure I am going to make it without cracking open a book. They seem to be calling my name. I swear I am hearing this noise on the wind that sounds like a voice softly repeating "read me read me". Wait, it is getting louder and is saying very clearly "Read Me Read Me". "READ ME!

I remember fondly when visiting my Grandparents as a child, My Grandmother giving us each a dime (10¢). We immediately took our newly found riches to the corner market where they had a glass case full of candy. Some were a penny and others were 3 for a penny, I would stand there for what seemed forever deciding how best to spend my money. For only a dime we came home with quite the haul, each proudly carrying our spoils in a small brown paper bag. Growing up in the country, we didn't have corner stores. So visiting our Grandparents in town always seemed so much fun.

I am 34, and I got like a dollar. That meant a Little Debbie Cake or some Zotz, which I can still find every once in a while. Or Sixlets, Tootsie Rolls, hard candies. They were my FAVORITES! I still love the mixed boxed Ribbon Candy that reminds me of my grandparents and what penny candy must have been like.
Today is Saturday at 1:37 pm, and even though it is not Christmas I am watching Love Actually... yet again. It is on TV, so a good bit is cut out and the entire storyline with Martin Freeman is not there. I just love this movie and I know it is going to make me cry so much. Such happy tears.
Its like almost 3 in the afternoon here and we have nasty freezing rain.We were out earler but the car was filled with ice..and the roads are..getting there.
It's almost 3 p.m. Here too. I am sucking on a peppermint cane! I love good peppermint!Have been cleaning bathrooms, blowing my nose, coughing and now am going to vacuum.
THEN I think I need an Irish Coffee. The Jameson has been sitting out for days. I have threatened to put it in my tea (with lemon and honey).......but have felt too crappy to do so.
Today I have decided I am going to live!!!!! UGH! I have felt so crappy since Xmas. Today, I turned a corner.
1am right now (London, England)I've just watched Brokeback Mountain and then Monster's Ball immediately afterwards, so I'm flicking channels and trying to find something light-hearted!
Tip for everybody - those are not two films that you want to watch one after the other...!
Ter'e
I have been coughing, blowing my nose fighting a nasty virus for three weeks.
Really fed up with it, leaves you so tired

Brokeback Mountain is one of my favourite films ever, haven't seen Monsters Ball. Hope all you folks with the flu/colds feel better soon. You must be rough if you've missed tennis Sean!
2:45pm Sitting here reading as usual. I live on the 11th floor and you can't see anything out my windows. Total whiteout, so I'm enjoying the view of a wall of white.
Laying here in bed attempting to get into a comfortable position so I can read. Last night when I took Otto outside for his evening constitutional, I ran my wheelchair off the curb instead of the curb cut because the snow was blocking where I thought it was and I missed. I was thrown out of my wheelchair and landed about six feet away in the middle of the street. Nothing like dragging yourself through ice and snow back to your wheelchair in sub zero temps while praying someone doesn't run you over. Needless to say I am one hurting pup today, the jolt when I hit the street has me in quite a bit of pain so I am just laying here trying to get comfortable. Hopefully this will go away in a few days.
Oh my gosh, Lynn! You be careful out there!! Rest easy and take painkillers if necessary. Look after yourself.
Janet wrote: "Oh my gosh, Lynn! You be careful out there!! Rest easy and take painkillers if necessary. Look after yourself."Thank you Janet. A heating pad does wonders for a hurting body. I will be fine just jolted and bruised, both body and ego. :)
Oh my goodness...Ter'e and Sean, hope you are both feeling better by now. Lynn, you have to take care of yourself! Any chance of a warm bath with Epsom salts?Going to mow the restaurant lawns this afternoon as it is supposed to rain tomorrow - there is a definite change in the air today.
HRH The Princess Sootica of the Riverside is sulking because, as we are having the exterior of the cottage painted, we have bought Beau (the Blue Heeler) over onto the lawn at the bar (her territory). She is not a happy cat!
A little bit better, and having fun on here keeps me cheerful
Especially pick it for me keeping me busy!

I hope everyone is feeling better. OMG Lynn, what an awful experience. I am so glad you weren't seriously injured. Feel better!!
Janet wrote: "Loved Brokeback Mountain, thought it was beautifully done."Me too Janet. Both Brokeback Mountain and Monster Ball were very deep, moving films. I agree, too much emotion back to back.
It's 2:22 PM and I'm sitting under an electric blanket, watching the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys.

Yup. Been over a week and I've still got them both in my head. Especially Brokeback Mountain, there was something so poignant and tragic about it. And the performances were just incredible too.
It's 9.47am here and about to starting sanding and glossing the kitchen. Missing reading as to tired to read as decorating atm
It is 2:24 pm and I am watching the highlights from Klay Thompson's record breaking 3rd quarter in last nights basketball game. Getting hyped up about it all over again!

Just checking in before going to make a cup of tea and taking the Sunday papers out onto the deck to catch up on what is happening in the world.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
12.45am, London.Watching the boxset of The Walking Dead while also watching my hamster run around like some kind of caged mini-tornado. Very cute, but pretty disconcerting too...
;-)
We used to have a hamster like that. He was like a gym freak. Sadly we weren't able to master the art of keeping a hamster. We lost two in quick succession.
Ah, sorry to hear that Janet.I've only had mine for a few months, so am not sure how well I'll master all this either...!
Janet wrote: "We used to have a hamster like that. He was like a gym freak. Sadly we weren't able to master the art of keeping a hamster. So having kids with runny noses around wasn't very good for the hamsters.
Mine wouldn't last longer than 3 months. First we had a girl, she died, then a boy and he passed. Don't know what we did wrong, so we've left it.
Spent the whole morning watching one of the best matches at The Australian Open, Andy Murray beat Grigor Dimitrov in four sets.
I am up every morning at 4.00 a. m to watch for a couple of hours before work.

Tuesday - 9:06am and I'm at my boy's high school with our service dog, Mazie. Catching up on GR/Groups on the teacher's computer. *sigh* One of the twins was struggling last week. Mazie's doing her job but I worry.
It's 8:20 and I'm going through my mail having just finished breakfast. Spent an hour this morning reading "A Widow for One Year" by John Irving. It has a murder in it. Don't recommend the book.
