I finished The Matchmaker's Lonely Heart
by Nancy Campbell Allen. This is the first book in the Proper Romance Victorian series. It's part historical mystery, part police investigation, and part romance. It's suspenseful, engaging, and atmospheric. My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
South Australian author Garry Disher's recent book Consolation is my favourite kind of writing. Perfect for place, plot, and people. This is rural Australia where crooks think they can get away with murder.

Derek B. Miller has given Sheldon Horowitz, his elderly protagonist from Norwegian by Night, a great back story in How to Find Your Way in the Dark. Sheldon wants to kill his father's murderer, but he's only 12. Loved it!

I finished The Elimination Threat
by Michael Laurence. It's is a well-written, engrossing, and scary-to-think-about technothriller with a conspiracy angle, some science, and a dash of history. It is the third book in the Extinction Agenda series and picks up soon after the end of book two.My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I had previously posted my review in other areas, but this book is now available on NetGalley, so I have posted it there also. This young man has overcome a lot, and now he has published his memoir, Stare at Me: How Being Blindsided Brings Life Into Focus

by J.D. Robb. This is the 53rd book in the Eve Dallas In Death near future police procedural / romantic suspense series and gets me current on the series. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I must read more Jeffery Deaver! I enjoyed his latest Amazon Original Story, Cause of Death, which could easily have been deveoped into a novel. While the title may not be unique, the cause of death certainly is.

I loved Akwaeke Emezi's debut novel, Freshwater, but I think other readers will enjoy The Death of Vivek Oji more than I did. Love, sex, acceptance.

I finished Rogue Wolf
by Paige Tyler. She brings murder, romance, action, and suspense to the twelfth book in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team paranormal romantic suspense series. My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished City of Time and Magic
by Paula Brackston. She brought a well-written and entertaining mix of historical fiction, fantasy, time travel, romance, and suspense. It is the fourth book in the Found Things series and readers will benefit from reading the series in order as there are references to events in previous books. The novel is mostly set in and around Marlborough, a market town in the English county of Wiltshire in contemporary times and 1878 London. My 5 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This is the Kopp sisters, World War One style! Norma's in France with her pigeons, young Fleurette is touring in the US with a dance troupe, and Constance is spying. Always fun. Dear Miss Kopp by Amy Stewart is #5 in the series.

This book kept getting preempted by Libby books from the library, but I finally got to it and finished in less than 2 days! Very good debut novel by Nita Prose: The Maid
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
BOX 88 by Charles Cumming, a former secret service recruit himself, describes the mixed-up world of international intrigue. We may know who the enemy is, but with so many 'agencies' of spies today, nobody is quite sure who the bad guys are. Great read!

Here is my review of Vanishing Edge
by Claire Kells. This new-to-me author brings crimes and suspense to a well-written and dramatic crime thriller largely set in Sequoia National Park near Three Rivers, California. Overall, this was well-written, captivating, and thought-provoking. I enjoyed unraveling the mystery along with Harland and Hux. I was hooked immediately in the first chapter and the pages kept turning. My 5 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Apples Never Fall is the latest from Aussie author Liane Moriarty. It's a family tree of tennis players, the kind of varied group of characters she's so well-known for. I wish I'd liked it better.

Here is my review of Strength Under Fire
by Lindsay McKenna. It's the third book in the Silver Creek contemporary romantic suspense series. The writing and discussions gave me a strong sense of the Wildflower Ranch and the Silver Creek community. While it is portrayed as very idyllic and somewhat unrealistic, I wanted to believe in it and enjoyed it. It was an entertaining book that was emotionally intense at times. The author did a good job of meshing the romance and the suspense without either suffering. My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
