I'm looking for all kinds of literary adoptions. It's just a coincidence that they're fantasy/YA.
I read The Face on the Milk Carton. It was really good.

The 100 Cupboards Trilogy --don't remember for sure which book it is revealed in, though. I think maybe the third? The Chestnut King

Saffy's Angel, Hilary McKay
One of my all-time favorite books. When Saffron asks why her name isn't a paint color like her siblings' (Rose, Indigo, & Cadmium), a visiting adult answers "Doesn't Saffron know?"
And there are four other books in the series; each focuses on a different sibling, and Saffy's a major character in four of the five.
