"Dna samples and stuff." She said. She took his hand. "Let's not start panicking okay?"

"You saw the blood," he said. "There was so much blood," he said, shaking his head.
"But that doesn't mean it's his." She said.
"But I hurt someone," he said. "I hurt someone," he said and lifted a hand to his forehead.
"We don't know that." She pressed, rubbing his arm.
"I'm crazy, Nat. We do know that," he told her, shaking his head.
"But that doesn't mean you're capable of murder." She said.
"I'm crazy, I'm capable of anything," he said.
"Not murder." She said. "I know you couldn't kill anyone because it puts your daughter's life in danger."
He didn't argue because she had a point.
"There is another explanation for the blood." She said. "There has to be."
Elian lowered his head to the counter and held his hands in his hair.
"Hey it's okay." She hugged him. "We'll figure this out."
"What if I did kill him?" He asked her.
"I don't think you did." She said quickly.
Elian gave a single nod and then jumped when someone knocked on the door, jittery.
"Shhh." She kissed his cheek. She moved to the door, peeping through the peak hole.
It was the police. Elian jumped up and followed her but quietly.
"Go sit down okay?" She whispered to Elian.
"They're here for me," he said, paranoid. He nodded and quickly went to wait in the living room.
"You don't know that." She said. "I'll talk to them okay?" She made sure he was sitting then opened the door. "Hi can I help you?"
"Natalie Karova?" One of the two policemen asked.
"Natalia, yes." She said to them, emphasizing the A. "What can I do for you?"
"We'd like to ask you some questions about Max Carver," The same policeman asked.
"Okay sure." She nodded. "Um, you can come in." She stepped aside.
The policeman nodded and they both stepped inside.Elian was sitting in the living room anxiously.
"Sorry this is my boyfriend, Elian." She gestured to him. She closed the front door.
Elian looked up and his eyes darted to Natalia. He stood up when he saw the policemen and nodded as they each introduced themselves and shook his hand.
Natalia sat down beside Elian, taking his hand. "So, um, Max?" She promoted the policemen.
Elian held onto her hand.The policemen sat down and the quiet one spoke about what happened. Then they each had a part where they asked questions. "We understood from previously questioned individuals that the deceased was your boyfriend?"
She furrowed her brows. "Max? No he wasn't my boyfriend."
The officer seemed surprised, "how would you describe your relationship?"
"We worked together," she told him. "And we fooled sound sometimes but I made it clear that it wasn't anything serious." She said. "He sort of...was obsessed with me."
"Yeah he got the guy at the desk downstairs to let him up. I was in the shower when he broke in." She told him.
"Where were you, Ms. Karova, last night?" He asked.
"I was here sleeping." She told him. "With my boyfriend. We ordered takeout and just stayed here." She squeezed Elian's hand as if saying "be quiet."
Elian didn't say a thing, seeming to be in another world, barely listening to them.The policemen looked at him oddly and then nodded to her. "Is there a chance your boyfriend might've snuck out of the room in the middle of the night while you slept?" They asked.
Natalia frowned. "What kind of assumption is that?" She asked. "That's very specific." She muttered. "But no. He was here. I would know because he was practically my pillow".
"I apologize but we have to investigate all aspects."
"I know." She nodded. "Sorry the entire situation is a little unsettling. How did he get out of custody?" She asked.
"He wasn't," the officer said. "He was attacked while in custody. Footages were deleted."
"Wasn't he found on the street though?" She frowned.
