She nodded. “I know. But you deserve a childhood.” She said.

He looked back at her. “You do, too.”
She shook her head. “It’s not my right or privilege.”
He shrugged, “what makes you think it’s mine?”
“That’s simple. Youre human.” She said.
She rolled her eyes. “Biologically, you are human.”
“Humanity isn’t just physical,” he said. He wasn’t sure why they kept circling back to the same subject again and again and he didn’t know how to atop it.
“You have humanity, I do not. That’s just how it is. I’m not looking for pity points of anything.”
“I’m not giving you pity points,” he said simply and then shook his head. “I’m showing you that we’re not that different.”
“And I’m telling you that we are. It’s just how it is babe.” She touched his cheek.
“There’s no point in a human body if the soul isn’t human, too,” he said simply.
“You have a human soul.” She said
“My soul is anything but human,” he said simply.
She just shook her head, sighing.
He sighed and grabbed a drink. “I don’t know if you drink beer so I got you some juice, too.”
“I drink everything.” She smirked.
He watched her, smiling lightly when she giggled a little.
He finished his beer and then asked, “dessert?”
“I got chocolate cake, cheesecake and fruit salad,” he answered
“Mmm! Cheesecake for sure.” She clapped her hands.
“I was going to go to Germany.” She said.
“Hmm?” He asked, looking over at her again.
“When you ran into me with my stuff packed.” She said
He finished eating and put it away. “Why?” He asked slowly.
She shrugged. “I’ve lived there a few times. It’s beautiful.”
He nodded carefully as he lay down, setting his head on one of the pillows. He stared up at the sky.
She laid down beside him and folded her hands over her stomach.
He carefully shifted closer to her and let the side of his head rest against hers. “Do you know anything about constellations?” He questioned
He smiled lightly, “like what?” He asked.
“How they used to be used for directions,” She said. “I remember a story my...my mother told me once.” She cleared her throat. “She told me, that if I were ever lost, or needed help home, to follow the brightest star in the sky.” She pointed to one. “She said, if I looked at that star and thought about her, and home, it would shine brighter and brighter lighting my path back to her.” She swallowed.
He carefully took her hand in his as she spoke, lacing his fingers through hers.
He looked at her, “you got lost?” He asked.
“I’ve always been lost.” She told him.
“I’m stuck in between the sky and the earth.” She said.
He shifted onto his side to stare at her, “what do you mean?”
She looked over at him. “I’m a spirit. I’m also human. But I’m not one hundred percent of either.”
She nodded and looked up at the sky.
