end of part one. (view spoiler)[ I love how this is written. The fast pace, the imagery and how so few words can show how vitally important something is or how she truly feels about something or someone. Her thoughts and feelings easily translate onto the page in very few words.

I can see how this book won so many awards. This is definitely the kind of book that you can read in a day regardless of who you are, Not a ton has happened besides the accident, but a lot of emotions and part one kind of set the scene for what life was like before and after her accident, her emotions and what life is like on the island. Also her relationship with her family and Gat. (hide spoiler)]

I relate to Cadence a lot actually, even though it's not a super emotional book or anything. I find myself relating to her anyway. The character development and writing is kind of strangely detached... I mean the book is good, but not great. The characters are good, but a little flat. (hide spoiler)]

Mirren clearly feels bad for something. The grandfather is acting weird too, and I don't think he's just confused. He tore down the house, which makes me think something bad happened there. Even the kid has nightmares. Like something happened and everyone is trying to cover it up. Her parents didn't want her to go to the island. They're trying to hide something, but I have no idea WHAT that is. It better be damn good. (hide spoiler)]

This really annoys me. People can have all the things in the world, but that doesn't invalidate their pain. I can't stand when people say things like that. Like you shouldn't be upset because someone has it worse. Someone will always have it worse. Honestly, I don't know if I actually like Gat. Sure, I get that she likes him, but I don't think I really do. Maybe Mirren is telling her to stay away from him because of what he did last summer thta she doesn't remember. I honestly can't believe how little actually happens in this book. The plot is kind of shit. (hide spoiler)]

My family had a fight over inheritance and my grandma and her half brother never spoke again over it and it was just over a diamond ring. Money can tear people apart. Is it really worth it? Family is worth more and these people don't seem to value it enough. Not like the grandfather is the greatest either. He lords the money over everyone and uses it to taunt, threat and manipulate.
