Review
I loved the setting of this story Lucifer and Phyllida were a wounderful math for each other. They are both caring and giving people. I found this book to be the sweetest romance of the series. The two characters set out on a dangerous path of intrigue and passion.

Without Fail by Lee Child(Jack Reacher #6)
Date Read: 8/30/16
Rating ★★★★
For basically being homeless and unemployed Jack always seems to find himself in tense life and world changing situations. As ex military with high clearance levels he is sought after by the leader of the Secret Service detail tasked with protecting the vice-president elect from assassination. There have been viable threats against the vp and Jack is asked to "assassinate" him. In other words to pretend to be someone out to kill the vp and find the holes in his protection detail.
Meanwhile there are people out to derail Jacks efforts and not only kill the vp but also Jack himself.
Fast paced as always. Great thriller series full of government conspiracies and covering your butt.
I'm reading the sugar queen by Sarah Addison Allen :) sorry I haven't checked it. it's been such a crazy and dramatic week. lol
I was vacillating between two #3 books.. but decided to go with In Death series since it's likely to go faster. I'm not in a place to read new books since we shifted houses on Monday.

Review: The early JD Robb books are the best. They have the romance, the mystery - everything in perfect balance and ratio. Mavis plays heavily in this book and we can sort of see the setup of the future characters. It reminded me of how much I love this series.

This book was sexy, humorous, jaw dropping, adventurous, and heartbreaking. There were also a few unexpected twists as well as some special guest stars. I love both Cat and Bones not only are they one of my favourite couples they are also amazing characters. I loved this series and I was sad again when I read this book because I knew it was the last one in the series.

Review: I love Susan Mallery's books. In this particular one I love how a guy who is a Seal and has fought in battle is scared of his mother. A friendship that blossoms into more and love is born. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.
Is there a thread or a spreadsheet somewhere that I am not finding that shows how the teams are doing? Seems like before there was a spreadsheet.
there isn't a spreadsheet I don't think but you can go to the post your spot to see where all the teams are.
Well until Vi checks in with her book and review. I won't be rolling until later this morning with continual check ins.

How it Fits: #2 in Snow Queen series and #7 in Amour et Chocolat
Review:
So apparently this is the 7 in another series of which I've read only the first. Since it's supposed to be standalone I was fine.. but turns out a big chunk of stuff was missed by me because I wasn't upto date on the other series. All the couples from the other series were present and I guess for a fan of that series, this book would have been really fun.
Coming to the story, it's about two 50 year olds getting together (finally) after 20 (10) years of friendship. I missed the closeness that would have been shown over the 6 books but even without the romance is very nice. I need to go and read the Amour et Chocolat series but last time I finished the first one, I had a strong craving for artisan chocolate!!!!

This series is set post The Great War and deals a lot with the aftermath of war and how it has taken a toll on the English.
Maisie is a rather progressive young woman living in a time and place that wants women to stay at home. Maisie has different ideas however and has opened her own detective agency. In this case she is hired to find the missing grown daughter of a wealthy businessman and bring her home.
Thanks, Sheila. I feel better today. We have Zika epidemic recently here so we were rather hoping it wasn't Zika.Another 2.. I need to find one that matches and that I want to read.
I am very aware of Zika, Vi. My daughter is due in less than 3 weeks. Scary stuff. I wish the government would get on board with fighting it.

This was a compelling-romance-mystery-supence story. The book was well written with fascinating characters and a mystery that doesn't give you many clues. All these emotions are woven throughtout the story trust, passion, family, and broken hearts.

Review:
I came across this book in one of the popular book review blogs. A very positive portrayal of a fat heroine in a fairy tale setting. It intrigued me and luckily it fit this week's call also.
It has it's own twist on the fairy grandmother which was enjoyable. The Cinderella in question is Nellie, the eldest daughter forced to drop school after 14 to look after her father and her younger sister who was 4 years old. So you can guess the roles they play. The father is a miser who is getting Nellie to get more and more things done in the house. The sister is a beauty bent on getting things done her way. This is the setup with the fairy god mother providing deus ex machina all the way till the end. And that was what made me mad. Really mad. Because of that, the father and the sister don't get the comeuppance they deserve. The lives arranged by the fairy godmother sucks because they don't even deserve that.
It was enjoyable but a very ok read for me.

Review: I stumbled across this book in the library and picked it on a whim. I like the early books of the series while the latter one I feel, sort of lost their steam. But it's good that the author is able to get the series going. ANyway, in this book we see the beginning stages of the relation between Roarke and Eve. I'm tempted to re-read the series but maybe the ones that I like more.
