What are you reading in July 2016?
A Darker Shade of Magic has been in the running for the monthly read several times, but not a "winner". I had been in a long library queue for it; my number came up so I picked it up...enjoying it so far.

I'll be wrapping up my Shannara quest with The Darkling Child and The Sorcerer’s Daughter and then continuing my classics challenge with The Three Musketeers.I'm still #6 on the waiting list for The Sorcerer's Daughter, (though I was #32 ten days ago), so I may have to squeeze something in between the Shannara books.
I will be finishing up Harry Potter Half-blood Prince and will start and hopefully finish Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows and move on to a different series!
I just finished The Thousand Names and planning on reading the second book this month as well as House of Chains.
I'm down to #5 on the waiting list for The Sorcerer's Daughter. In the meantime, I'm reading This Census-Taker.
I'm currently reading The Republic of Thieves, besides that I'm finishing a re-read of A Clash of Kings. After I finish those up, I will hook up to the monthly read Age of Myth.
Non SF/Fantasy. Have any of you read the Polish trilogy by Henryk Sienkiewicz? I have several times and am just finishing the 1st book With Fire and Sword? https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...Excellent historical fiction
Francis wrote: "Non SF/Fantasy. Have any of you read the Polish trilogy by Henryk Sienkiewicz? I have several times and am just finishing the 1st book With Fire and Sword? https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8......"Haven't read it, but I watched some of the Polish film adaptations via Netflix.
Finished A Darker Shade of Magic; reading Alphabet of Thorn while I wait for a copy of Dreamsongs Volume I
Finished up my Epic Shannara quest (only had to wait 3 days for the final book from the library). Moving on to The Three Musketeers
Finished The Builders and The Wheel of Osheim, both super fun!I'm almost done with The Bonehunters and then finishing off The Riven Wyrde Saga, and who knows after that!
Just came back from vacation and used my driving time to listen to Asimov's Foundation and Clark's Rendezvous with Rama. I read the former years ago but this was my first time for the later.
Finished The Fifth Season, which was not fun but which was very, very good, and am starting The Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher to complete my Hugo nominee novels.
Slowly reading The Last Light of the Sun by Guy Gavriel Kay (a good interpretation of Viking culture) and Wytchfire by Michael Meyerhofer (a spurned sellsword meets magical race kind of story)
Finished A Light into the Darkness. I gave it 3 stars. I loved the story but this had to be one of the worst edited books I have ever read. Grammatically it had one error after another with obvious missing words. I would have rated this higher except for this one factor. Started Red Hot Steele. Kind of cheesy. Like a hard-boiled detective story with elves and goblins mixed in. Also started Elemental Magic: All-New Tales of the Elemental Masters. A lot of short stories by different authors set in Lackey's Elemental Magic world. So far, I'm really enjoying it.
I started by reading a few random pages out of Felton and Fowler's Best, Worst and Most Unusual and then went to my current book, The King of Elfland's Daughter. Love both of 'em.
Finished The Aeronaut's Windlass and decided to revisit an old favorite, Jack of Shadows by Roger Zelazny.
I finished reading The Gentleman Bastard Sequence: The Lies of Locke Lamora, Red Seas Under Red Skies, The Republic of Thieves and have started on The Name of the Wind. I guess I could continue on with the Gentlemen Bastards series...but I really wanted to read The Name of the Wind!
Finished Jack of Shadows (t was one of those lovely early 1970s books that felt that 200 pages was more than enough to not overstay its welcome, thank you very much) and started my vacation reading a week early: A Game of Thrones by this Martin Georges guy.
Finished Age of Myth last night. Great characters and world building and cultural politics. My review here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Now I've been reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. It reminds me of Big Fish so far.
Finished Homeland The Legend of Drizzt. I must say, this was a really good story. It was a interesting twist of someone who is good and moral living in a society of evil and corruption. Started The Paper Magician today.

Alicia's Ghost. A book I'd wanted to get to a couple of years ago--recommended to me by more than one of my GR friends.
Finished king of thorns, the crown conspiracy, avempartha, nyphron rising, emerald storm, the first book of the legacy trilogy. Tomorrow starting wintertide
I made it! I'm about 27% through Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Taking me a while so far haven't had much time.
Nine Princes in Amber ... totally unrelated to the group read, but now I may participate! Read the book about 40-some years ago.

I've never read that, thought I might try and get to it too.

It is a quick read and I'm still trying to form an opinion of if I like the tale or not. (view spoiler) I'm still reading though.

This book had lots of potential and I might try the next in the series to see if the author improves.
I am currently reading Malice by John Gwynne and I am addicted to it! And I plan to read the whole series at this point!
Finished The Paper Magician. Gave it three stars. I would have called it a Middle School book except for the gore. I'm still thinking about a review. Since the next two books are free with Kindle Unlimited I believe I'll go ahead and read them. They all seem to be quick reads.
Catch-22. But I'm laughing so hard, I'm not making much progress. This may be my last book this moth...
