Gremlin | 966 comments I would call that blue. However, other editions of the same title could be classified as green.

message 102: by Linda (new)

Linda Does Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4) by J.K. Rowling count as green? I don't really think so, but since I'm reading it, I figured I might as well ask. If not, then Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6) by J.K. Rowling should.

message 103: by Christie (new)

Christie (cereale) Finished my 2nd Sever (The Chemical Garden, #3) by Lauren DeStefano (green). Updated post #12.

Yeah, Goblet of Fire doesn't have enough green. But Half-Blood Prince definitely does!

Darn! I was hoping you'd count the "gold" as orange too and I'd squeeeeaaaak by! LOL! Ah well, I have two other options.

Kdbrand | 353 comments So I just found this gem of a book,it looks more violet than blue to me. What do y'all think? The Smell of Other People's Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock

message 108: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 560 comments I just got a copy of The Wrath & the Dawn from the library that I was thinking I was going to use for red, but my book OCD requires that I always shelve the cover of the edition that I read and this was the cover/edition I got from Overdrive:

The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn, #1) by Renee Ahdieh

So I guess my question now is, can this be a purple book instead?

message 109: by Christie (new)

Christie (cereale) Gremlin wrote: "You all are doing such a great job on the start of this challenge! Especially for only 15 days in. Inspiring!!"

I had too many books coming into my library eAudio account at one time. Had to rush through a couple before they were due back. I'm usually much more leisurely working through my challenges.

laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) Read 2/6:

Green: Poppy (Poppy, #1) by Mary Hooper
Blue: A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2) by Sarah J. Maas

I had two others and then saw the 50% comment. Dang it! I knew it couldn't be that easy lol.

I very much see purple on this one! (Also, I've been wanting to read it for a while, so let me know what you think!)

I feel like my computer screen is making it look so dark that it's hard to tell what color it is. Is the cover obviously purple when you're holding it? It looks like it could be from what I can tell - so if you think it is, I say go for it.

Thanks, I've used The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky as my blue book! Not really sure what I thought of it though.... Finished it tonight and updated post #17 accordingly.

How was that? I have had it on kindle forever and was thinking about using it for orange. I actually have not even started reading for this challenge yet because I have been on vacation for two weeks and have a e library book that is about to expire. If you think it is decent then I might start the challenge with it. I am trying to do the whole challenge with books I already own.

Thanks, Melanie - and good catch! You're updated now.

And I'm glad you like the challenges because I love running them. They are such a great impetus to keep reading :)

Orange - Wild Awake by Hilary T. Smith - I liked this a lot considering I only picked it for the challenge. I wanted to know what happened after the book ended.

Yellow - Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

Updated post #19.

I need ideas for green! A lot of the ones I'm seeing here I've already read, or they're 3rd in a series.

No, sorry. It's got to be in the name of the title, not the series.

Hi Brandi - I hate to be a stickler, but I'm not really seeing more than 50% red in the cover for A Conspiracy of Kings (The Queen's Thief, #4) by Megan Whalen Turner . I actually see more brown than red... but I'm not sure I even see more than 50% of any particular color. (Others can totally weigh in though, if they see otherwise)

Here are a few ideas, Barb (that I've read and enjoyed).

Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt Chime by Franny Billingsley The Green Glass Sea (Green Glass #1) by Ellen Klages (this one works on both levels) Also Known As (Also Known As, #1) by Robin Benway (this one is popcorn, but fun).

If you want a few adult ideas, there are these:
Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg (works on both levels)

Here's a couple of recs (although I don't know if the last two are quite green enough, Gremlin will have to weigh in on that):

Whelp...it didn't get called out when I originally posted it and it's already been read so if you don't want to count it, I totally understand and I'll either just find something else or I won't have a 'red' in my rainbow. No worries.

Same with me, it was on my Kindle for a long time. Not sure what took me so long to read it! Definitely a solid storyline with characters that I felt a connection with. The best part is that it was a quick read.

I need to calm down and relax about it. I feel like when there's a challenge I'm all on board with, I try to finish it in the first month. I don't have to read a purple book I'm not feeling because of the challenge. I can stop and wait for something else.
