Buddy Read Invite (Retired)

I'll probably read it quite slowly setting myself a schedule to get it done by the end of November.

I'll join :)

I will be there for the second book of Villains, Ange Jr.

I will be on the Mists of Avalon BR concurrently so it will be a steady but not frenetic pace. We can use the already existing threads in the Kristoff folder. I know the timing is a bit off, since most ppl will have finished their recap reads but I was just hoping...

I'm still stuck at a hundred pages into the second book, so I'll be there to discuss for sure. The footnotes are really dampening my enjoyment of the story and I'm considering either switching to audio or skipping the footnotes altogether....

Classical education means I can totally handle footnotes, indexes et al...and if they're anything like the footnotes in Bartimaeus ~ kinda snarky ~ I'll love them. Hope that lifts your mood on them a bit and gets you thru to the end. Or else, like you say there"s always audio. Middle books are always iffy...you gotta keep things moving and yet not let them get to the climax....
Good to know you'll be reading alongside 😊😊
I'll have my package today. And then I'm also reading Vicious 2 with you. Maybe Andy will join that BR as well, lemme ask.

As I'm sort of reinvigorated for BR's as of late, here are a few invites for new releases of september.
The Ten Thousand Doors of January - sep 12
The Water Dancer - sep 24

We haven't set a date yet, book 1 is oct 17th. If i like it, I'd be inclined to binge the second one right after, but idk what the others want to do 🤷

OK! I'll keep an eye out and join you if I can. :)

Aww shoot…haha …tha’zz my bad Andy…skipped lunch, no coffee…
@Siobhan…woot!
Anyone interested in reading How To: Absurd Scientific Advice for Common Real-World Problems?
It's the "sequel" to What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions... but you don't need to read that first... they're not really connected... just similar concepts...
They're written by Randall Munroe, writer/illustrator of www.xkcd.com and read by Wil Wheaton...
Me and Anni read the first book in March, and made plans to read the 2nd book when we found out it was coming out... probably request a thread once Anni gets back to me, since I just remembered the book came out last week... the ebook/hardcover are a bit pricey, but audiophiles can just use an audio credit... the ebook/hardcover will have stick figure animations and stuff, tho...
This is more of a heads up / interest-catching post than more BR invites... a more literal invite, I guess :)

You should post this in the Self Promotions folder.

I don't think so, I can't find the request in the spreadsheet.

Gaea, I will set up the buddy read for the 23rd.

@Katie - thanks! I have nothing going on so any date is fine by me. Maybe next week? Are you going to be reading a chapter or two a day?

I would!

I think I will try to join as well, assuming that is okay.

Just read at our own pace.

Of course!

Come on, it has 65k ratings!"
Love that book!! Sadly I do not have time for rereads right now. But I encourage anyone thinking about reading it to join!

So... are there any Demonica fans around here?... Larissa Ione has a new full length book coming out in a few weeks, which wraps up the storyline of the last 9 novellas, and sets up the sequel series set to start soon, apparently...
The book is Reaper, and it comes out October 15th... Larissa Ione says that the storyline thread starts in Hawkyn and weaves through Her Guardian Angel, Dining with Angels: Bits & Bites from the Demonica Universe, and Cipher, leading into Reaper... all of these titles are available on Audible Escape (renamed romance subscription), if anyone is interested in reading with me (except for Dining with Angels, which is a short story anthology / cookbook)... the PNR books are all on the long side of novellas, at 200 pgs and 6hrs of audio... anyone interested?
Somehow I quit reading the novellas right when they became relevent to the future of the series...

I'm planning to read the following books. So, if any of you guys are interested I'll be happy to have BRs for them:
1. The Machineries of Empire series by Yoon-Ha Lee. 3 books starting in early or mid October, one book per month
Ninefox Gambit - 5/10 Oct
Raven Stratagem - 5/10 Nov
Revenant Gun - 5/10 Dec
2. Semiosis duology by Sue Burke. Binge-read starting on December. The second book is expected to be released this month, but it's still quite expensive on kindle last I checked. So, I'm hoping there will be discounts during the end of year sale period ha.
Semiosis - 15/20 Dec
Interference - sometime during the Christmas break?
3. Manifest Delusions series. Starting either in mid-December or early January 2020. The first book of the series is on sale on kindle right now.
Beyond Redemption - 15/20 Dec/Jan
The Mirror’s Truth - 15/20 Jan/Feb
Swarm and Steel - 15/20 Feb/Mar

I read machineries of empire last year and thought it was pretty great... not up for a re-read, tho...
Semiosis looks interesting, so I'm down for BRing that... hopefully Interference has an audiobook by Christmas, as well...
I don't want to commit to Manifest Delusions, since it still doesn't have audio... I tried to read it once before on my Kindle. Hopefully some others show interest and I can try and tag along on a BR, with my Text-To-Speech experiment... it worked well with a simple mystery, but haven't tried it with much else, yet...

(The first book is Lord Foul's Bane if you want to look it up.)

That sounds good. I remember reading Lord Foul's Bane in high school.

Sorry, yeah, I read this when I was running late for work last week and never responded... this is fine with me...
