I really like the show but had trouble getting into the first book so didn't continue, though I'd like to try again. Someday. Maybe.

Apparently you can on some, but not mine!
One of my kindles used to always give me page numbers and now all of a sudden it doesn't feel like it. What kind of crap is that?! I had to use an actual book. So weird.

I've had the first book sitting on my shelf for a while but I've been repeatedly told that they're completely different from the series and now that I'm watching season 9, I'm not going to read the book too soon after watching. Maybe if I handle it as something separate, it'll be fine?
What was your problem with getting into the book? The story? Or the characters? The writing maybe? Or just the fact that it was so different?

We weren't the only ones wondering about this kind of decoration haha! Karsyn veto'ed the man, but would accept the tattoos, if he has some, since those can be painted onto the chariot... So maybe if you pick a hot guy with some tatts or piercings, that would work! ;-)

Setting and tone is completely different as well. At the time, I was way into the show, so it was the tone more than anything that held me back. There wasn't any of the quirkiness which makes the show so fun! But I do want to give it another try now that I've been away from the show for awhile. I think with the books you have to come at it with no expectations of the same people as in the show. They're essentially different characters with the same name and (in some cases) same occupation.

If someone could replace my Page Jumping-Leg of Eight book, Double Full, that would be great. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to it before my surgery later this week. I'm currently reading Lovers in Arms and should finish by tomorrow. And then I'll read Stone Hard Seals or Let It Snow if no one has replaced them.
