Snarling Sabertooths
Sorry, vacay got in the way of reading today. Can't complain too much because it was some great family time but I feel bad that I didn't get a chance to check in. I'm glad Karen spoke up and is deciding to read for the 7th slot, thanks, Karen!I won't be able to read until later tomorrow evening but it sounds like we will be able to move forward on the other events by then.
I would like to do fight club. If rounds have to be read in order, how do we let the next person know they can start? Just posting here to say go? I could help with the later rounds after Wednesday this week.
If needed, slot me in for additional Page Jumping if necessary. I also have books that can be for the longer distances in Book into the Distance if need be.
I likely won't check in again until later tomorrow evening... HAppy Reading in the meantime!
Thanks for the Starbucks, Abbie! It was needed after the marathon Dominoes game with family tonight!!
Almost finished.I'm looking at the directions for Page Jumping.
Can I be moved to book 3 of heat 1. It's my next book planned to read. It's 230 pages.
Also, I'm okay with the reading sprints at any level.
Captains can you remove one of my animals off chariot. It isn't big enough. The dragon choice.
Am I correct that once we complete heat 2 of the title relay we can start everything?
Sooo, with V finishing off her book, we're just waiting on Jessica for Heat 1 to be finished and then we can spread out to everything else! :-D
Well done, ladies! That was quick work!
(And Heat 2 is very nicely on the way as well!)

FIGHT CLUB BREAK-DOWN
Here is the breakdown of how I thought we could do them based on what you all said, plus based a bit on your reading speed:
Round 1: 1 hour sprint -
Round 2: 2 hour sprint - V Nerd
Round 3: 3 hour sprint - K-Terror
Round 4: 4 hour sprint - LaurLa
Round 5: 5 hour sprint - Snowtulip
Round 6: 6 hour sprint - Tamika
Would this work for everyone?
Do we have a 6th person wanting to do a sprint?
Tamika mentioned being able to do more, so if nobody else wants to, that's absolutely fine. But we thought we'd offer :-)

You read for 6 hours.
Every round is reading for one hour more than the previous round.
You can do these sprints whenever you want during the time of the challenge. However, they need to be done in order, so round 6 cannot be done before round 1.
You are also allowed to take breaks. The mods mentioned that they would prefer there not being breaks, but in the end, they are good with a break, as long as you make note of reading times and pages read.

Oh okay. I don't mind doing hour six, but to get the max points for me. Anytime from 3:45 pm-midnight, I can read straight through. The when's I'm free to read continuously. This is the round that we can read two books for round 4-6, correct?
That is correct!
For rounds 4 - 6, you can read 2 books, but not more than 2.
For rounds 1 - 3, it's just the one book.
You can basically read whenever you want - day and hour. Happy to hear though that you don't mind taking on that one. It is a tiny bit of a stretch after all..

OOhh thanks Abbie!!
E, for the sprints, 2 things...1. How do you want us to notify the next person they can start? Just post here?
2. I think I remember reading in the rules that books read for the sprints can be usd elsewhere in the challenge? Just want to clarify that before we start...
LaurLa, if you can PM one of us to let us know you've finished a we are not supposed to show it on the thread.Other Q
▲ Books used for sprinting MAY be completed and used in a task elsewhere within Olympic Games, (though not for cheering).
▲ A fighter may become a coach at any time, but may not coach themselves. :)
Haha, no no, you got that correct, V. You copied the rules after all ;-)
So yes, the book you read during your sprint can be used for any task across the Olympic games. And you also don't have to finish it for the sprint to count.
As for saying when you're done, yes, it would be advisable to let the captains know so that we in turn can alert the next person that they can start reading whenever they feel like sprinting. The information concerning pages read and from when to when - that you will have to pm to the mod account.
The team will NOT know how many pages you have read, as this is not supposed to be public. (As an aside: captains will not complete the spreadsheet for that particular part of the challenge. The mods are in charge of this.)

So please do not start the sprints until you've got the go-ahead from one of the captains.

Now I have too much to Choose from!I will finish Heat 2,Leg 2 book, almost done...the move on to operation GONE, since I have 2 books for that.
...then I will move on from there.

Sorry you guys had to wait on me :("
I saw "ANGST" and had to add it to my TBR!!! :D
Waaaait, Abbie! Operation GONE is a no-go at the moment as it is a bonus round. Bonus books can only be read once all the others are done!
Sorry :-)
Sorry :-)

Yep, that works too!
The only "restriction" for sprints is that it's at least 3 team members, but otherwise, we can organise the sprints how we see fit.

I can do the 1 hour sprint if no one else wants it...so I just read for an hour and count how many pages I've read?

Sure thing!
And yes, you time yourself for an hour, count the pages read - and then you send the time and page count info to the mod account.

E - I love that you have the link on our first page to the directions -- I saw the link to the "MOD ACCOUNT" listed in there too. Helpful!
I saw a few coaching spots open so I grabbed one. There are still 2 more open so can do another one if no one wants it.
I'm armed and dangerous...
Yup, grab coaching spots people! Each book is worth 10 points, which is not bad, considering we don't have to read massive books to get them :-)
Also, I'm signed up for 3 spots, but if more people want to read coaching books (books on fighting - remember the rules), I'll happily give up one or two spots.

All I know is that they are both sluts!
K~Terror wrote: "Do you know when the sprints will be starting-ish?"
We'll work that out in a bit!
I'll just repost the list, see if it's all good for everyone (LaurLa and Snowtulip haven't been by yet).
EDA: In theory they could start right away.

We can do whatever, but the sprints needs to be in order.
