Ghost in the Stacks Okay, ladies headed to work. Going to start 2 of my books for Event 1, the audio on my drive, and The physical book on my breaks.

Since I am leaving for work, feel free to chat! I know once I get off, you wont want to talk to me, so enjoy your free time before I get back home!

If you are still looking for that, check Wrestling Demons, The River Leith, Turning Point series by NR Walker
ok, I can't remember if there is still fighting in River-book, but I know that mc was boxer. Oh, and if you are prone to tears, have tissues ready when reading it :)

Obviously I didn't check your shelves, so if you already read them, just ignore me :P

Thanks, Tea! :-)

Sure thing, Abbie, we'll make sure to shut up again just in time when you get off work ;-)

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments Is it time for us to read?

Mine only 160 pages.

Yes I'm fine with the second leg.

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments Nevermind I see it. I'm starting.

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments Well I can give my spot up until I look for something else!

For Chariot animal

Alright!

That leaves a further option for Jessica and Alexandria to pick, since we all need one book for that event.

message 1910: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments Hopefully they have something! Apparently I am very helpful when it comes to hot guys on the cover or black covers!!!

I am sucking at weapons...

Added a book for red cover for now but that's all I've been able to find so far!

(Had a couple swords but I didn't see spots for that.)

I have a red cover lying around that I can read and am willing to offer up my wheels spot, no problem.

The Girl in the Red Coat by Kate Hamer

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5105 comments I can do blue cover for Boy meets boy I think it should work

message 1913: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13737 comments Mod
Are you sure that's blue enough??

Maybe you should ask the wonder tool first ;-)

message 1914: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13737 comments Mod
But joking aside, that's good! We have at least 4 people who can cover the colours, just in case someone needs to switch around the books for those.

I jotted our books onto the spreadsheet to keep them in mind, just in case.

When I went to start my book and looked at the Planning Worksheet, it lists a different book than the one I'm set to read. I'm reading Always Mine by Ruth Cardello and it lists Always Been Mine by Elizabeth Reyes. It still works out right so I assume it's okay for me to read Always Mine. Sorry, I didn't notice it sooner.

Oh sure, absolutely no problem Karen!

Probably just a bit of a brain fart when we were moving things around! :-) Sorry about that!

message 1917: by Snowtulip (new)

Snowtulip | 4679 comments CONUNDRUM:

So I finally looked at agenda for training I'm taking in July 11-14 and I start at 7am and end 7pm each day. Then I'm staying 2 days to enjoy Harry Potter World :D

So basically, I will probably only get 2-3 books done during that time. So, won't know until we get closer to the time how to adjust my book participation....since we won't know which part of the challenge we're at....

So I'll give my planning books, and then we adjust??

No problem! Don't know how you all keep it straight! Just wanted to make sure before I started. Okay, off to read my book!

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments After I finish my book, is it okay to start the next or do I wait until the leg is completed first?

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ wrote: "After I finish my book, is it okay to start the next or do I wait until the leg is completed first?"

You can go straight to the next one!

All books in event 1, heat 1 and event 1, heat 2 can be read now without problem, just nothing outside of event 1.

We're going over the set-ups for heat 2 at the moment and will be posting about them soon so you can let us know what you think.

Snowtulip!

Don't worry about that! Olympics runs for three weeks, not two, so you still have time after you get back.

If you want to be absolutely on the safe side, you need the following:

1 book in event 1
1 book in event 2
1 book in event 5

Event 1 is already taken care of, you've got more than one so it's all good. Check the planning spreadsheet to see what you can/want to do for event 2 and 5.

Then you can take the rest as you can.

Just remember that books for anything other then event 1 may not be started until heat 1 is completed, i.e. all 15 books for the three legs!!
(I know I'm repeating this often hehe.)

Snowtulip | 4679 comments Page Jumping
I have books that fit all page ranges, so stick me where you need

Book Into the Distance
Again, use as you want for what we need...

ARM (I have 4 books that fit this)
Have books for each of the distance
LEAD - The Lead Cloak

Fight Club
As long as it's not during July 11-16 I can do any rounds, as well as coach (have a few fighting books)

Chariot
Animal - My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman Lingus by Mariana Zapata
Rope - Closing Ranks (Flesh, #4) by Ethan Stone
Wheel - It's All About the Bike The Pursuit of Happiness on Two Wheels by Robert Penn

Can read for other categories if needed :)

Ok, I put you down for:

Coach 2x (so you can read two fighting books)
Rope
Lead

For page jumping, would you rather like something average, small or a big book?

message 1927: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13737 comments Mod
For Fight Club itself, for the sprints.

The sprints have to be done in order, so we have to follow the order
1 hour
2 hours
3 hours
4 hours
5 hours
6 hours

We could potentially try and get them all done next week. Preferably with the 4 / 5 / 6 hour slots around the weekend when people are off work. (Unless you're all on holiday hehe.)

Tamika can do up to 3 slots - and we need at least 3 people doing these sprints. (Who ever else wants a slot, speak up!! :-))

Which slot would you prefer, Snowtulip?

message 1932: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments HaHa! I'm scared to death I'd start a kindle with page numbers and then they go away and I'll be disqualified!!!! I've had that happen before!

(Page numbers going away... not being disqualified for it..) LOL!

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments Look as us going 'old school' and having to borrow from our kiddos!

message 1934: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13737 comments Mod
It's because kindles have the percentages. If you have ebook formats lying around, those usually have pages, so those could work.

message 1935: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13737 comments Mod
Haha, it's especially the fact that you're borrowing the books from your kids that makes me laugh ;-)

Old-school is awesome - I love holding an actual book in my hand!

message 1936: by Snowtulip (new)

Snowtulip | 4679 comments The Kindle app will do page numbers, not as easy as the kindle, but works for this!

message 1937: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments Finished my first book and just posted!
Witch Blood by Emma Mills

I was scared it would take me forever to read it (kindle) so am happy it's done before we leave for our nephew's big 6-year old birthday party!

I have used the kindle app on my phone quite a bit and it works ok but it just seems so small for sprints of any length of time. Course, I guess I could go see if I could snag someone's iPad... we have 3 at home but for some reason I'm the one who rarely has access. I live amongst a bunch of iPad hogs!!

message 1938: by Karen ♐ (new)

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 1866 comments Do I understand this correctly...once we finish the 1st heat of the title relay, we can do all the other parts? The reason I'm asking is I might be having surgery 7/14 (I'll know for sure by the end of next week) and might have to readjust what I can read if I can't start within the next week or so. Does that make sense?

message 1939: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13737 comments Mod
You got that right! As soon as heat 1 is done, the rest of Olympics is fair game. So just in case, I'd suggest reading your books for event 2 and event 5 after the title relay, that way you won't have to worry about anything - and even if you don't manage, I'm sure the mods will understand if in this case the rest of the team covers for you :-)
I hope all will be well with the surgery and that it isn't anything too serious!

message 1940: by Karen ♐ (new)

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 1866 comments It's a knee replacement so the recuperation time is pretty long. But I've had a problem with anemia which could postpone the date so I'll find out for sure next week. Good news is that once I'm out of the pain killer fog, I should be able to read quite a bit while recuperating...lol. Okay, I'll start the others as soon as heat 1 is done. Thanks.

message 1941: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13737 comments Mod
Anemia is a pain when it comes to operations. I'm hoping for your sake though that it'll all be fine and that the date won't be postponed. Waiting for operations isn't the most pleasant thing to do.
But yes haha, lots of reading time during recuperation sounds good at least! You've got to have a little reward for going through with it all, right? ;-)

ATTENTION PLEASE

It's leg organisation time again ;-)

For Heat 2, for the 7 book leg, we were thinking of putting this one together:

1. Until Friday Night - - VNerd ✔
2. Night Embrace - - Snowtulip ✔
3. Embrace the Night - - Eldarwen ✔
4. Night Shift - - K-Terror ✔
5. Shift in time - - Tamika
6. Time Will Tell - - - 203-pg Erotica/Motorcycle?
7. Tell Me No Lies - - tbrs: Karen/LaurLa?

Other options:
6. Time to Make the Doughnuts - - Karen
7. Tell Me A Story - - Karen

Please confirm if these books would be ok with you - and also any takers for book 6?? (Not you Tamika, sorry, as you cannot read two books back to back.)
Book 7 is also up for grabs if you want to take that one. (Tamika, this one you could take.)
We're of course also open to suggestions to continue this run if you have a different idea for titles.

ATTENTION PLEASE

For Heat 2, for the 3 book leg, we have a couple of options; this is the one we figured might be best:

1. Lily Love - - K-Terror ✔
2. Love and the Real Boy - - Tamika (TBR)?
3. Boy Crucified - - Snowtulip (TBR)?

Please let us know what you think.
If this isn't the way you want to go, please check the spreadsheet and let us know which other option you might prefer :-)

ATTENTION PLEASE

For Heat 2, for the 5 book leg, we are doing Operation G•O• N•E .

Reading for this will be:

1. Snowtulip ✔
2. Jessica
3. Karen ✔
4. V Audio Nerd ✔
5. Alexandria ✔

If in doubt, pm K - she's in charge of the operation ;-)

message 1945: by Karen ♐ (new)

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 1866 comments For the 7 leg relay, I could read Tell Me a Story - The Story Series: EPISODE ONE by Tamara Lush. It's only 103 pgs

message 1946: by Karen ♐ (new)

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 1866 comments Or...Time to Make the Doughnuts by Shayne McClendon. It's only 112 pgs

Let's see who else weighs in on those and then we'll see which one you can pick up for that leg.
