The idea is that everyone can put down a few ideas of books they have lying around that they could read, preferably with more common words in the title so we'll find a way to link them up.

Yup, that would most likely be the best way to go.

We'll need a minimum of 7 readers for Heat 1. (You can only read once per leg.)

I'm counting myself among the slower readers but if I can manage to find a fairly small book that fits into those legs, I have all weekend free to sit down and read.

I was thinking along the same lines as E ~ since there isn't an advantage of reading a book with a higher page count, then maybe we should focus on smaller books to get the heats done quicker. With the first heat requiring a minimum of 7 people to complete it, and 10 people on the team, most everyone will need have something logged.

Tamika and K Terror are wicked fast readers and they can have a book logged for each leg while I'm still finishing up 1. So I think it might be beneficial (since they don't need to be finished in order; just completed before heat 2 begins) to focus on both the page count and the speed of the readers. Right? I might be way off.

Normally I would volunteer for Heat 1 but I will be traveling (driving) all day Saturday. I will be visiting family on Sunday-Tuesday and traveling all day again on Wednesday. I will be able to read and update while I'm gone but I can't guarantee any speed. I might be lucky to finish more than one book during those days... So I think that leaves me to Heat 2.

Hehehe... I just bought Real Ugly. I noticed it on the SS under the doodles tab with a (?) and thought it looks interesting. 5 minutes later I now have another TBR on my Kindle. Only 3 weeks in and my TBR shelf has doubled!!

The purpose of this challenge is not to decrease your TBR by reading lots of books, it's to increase it by adding everything the rest of us read and recommend ;-)

As a little aside note:

K has been fiddling around a little with titles and books we have on our to-be-read shelves, so there are a few things on there already.

Nothing is set in stone yet, no fear, in case there is a book on there you don't want to read or don't have access to. It was just a bit of playing around to see how difficult this was going to be.

HEAT 1
Basically everyone will be heat 1 except for Alexandria, Karen and LaurLa, who all will be a bit slower for various reasons. (As per previous posts from the three of them.)

We need a minimum of 7 readers for heat 1, so that leaves the rest of us with having to fill up the leg of seven books.

You don't necessarily have to be lead Tamika. We can fit books before and after whatever you're going to read. Books don't need to be read/finished in order either. The whole heat just needs to be completed before we can move on to other events.
Heat 2 can be read simultaneously but doesn't need to be completed before we can continue.

I'm pretty sure you can keep up with the speed readers if you pick a slightly shorter book, but no pressure on anyone!

If you check the Doodles tab, K has been playing around a little already, so we have a few starting ideas set up that we could possibly work off of - but as mentioned before, some of those are just things she found on various shelves, so nothing is set in stone.
