Oh my... I found an unlabelled CD in my pile and put it in to see what the heck was on there...

A blast from the past haha!

At least for me. I used to listen to them something like 10 years ago.

Omg, and this one - instant tears in my eyes after all these years!!
Love the lyrics.

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5104 comments Never heard that before but I love it!!
Going to pass it to my hubby's band as that's the sort of stuff they do

Oh cool!
My Chemical Romance was labelled an "emo band" back when I was listening to them so they were only listened to in certain circles.
But if that's something they do, you might also want to check out "Mama", "Black Parade, "Famous Last Words", "Teenagers" - those are the more known ones.

message 1305: by Ghost in the Stacks (new)

Ghost in the Stacks My chemical Romance is my daughters favorite band.

She could tell you the lyrics and the meaning of these songs.

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2352 comments Ah. I think I found a good place to hang. There be pretty men and chatty ladies who love pretty men.

*gets comfortable* Oh, hi Abbie!

Heya Kathleen! *passes the popcorn*

Oh they're still being listened to? That's cool. I think they broke up though a while ago? I'm so not up on that information again. But I do like reminiscing from time to time and break out stuff I've listened to ages ago.
It's scary how well I still know the lyrics for some things.

...by my daughter at least!
She wants them to get back together.

Haha if only some of the bands we'd like to get back together would do that.. ;-)

I've been wishing for Silverchair to get back together for years now - and then preferably go back to doing music like they did in the beginning.

message 1312: by Ghost in the Stacks (new)

Ghost in the Stacks I miss Silverchair!

They did my gradation anthem!!!!

Wooo!! :-D
I LOVE that song!! That whole album was great actually. The experimentation with the orchestra in the first song (Emotion Sickness) was fantastic. "Ana's Song", "Miss You Love".... *siiiigh*

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2352 comments *grabs popcorn*

I'm afraid I grew up listening to Westlife, Backstreet Boys and them pretty boy bands.

message 1315: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13731 comments Mod
Oh Westlife... I have all their CDs up to a certain point. And Backstreet Boys.. got most of those as well ;-) I just had a bit of a louder music taste than most of my friends, so I have a lot of alternative mixed in with the boy bands as I could only listen to them so much.

message 1316: by Ghost in the Stacks (new)

Ghost in the Stacks Me too Eldarwen, my face to face book group did a karaoke night, and they wete all doing backstreet boys and N'sync..

And They wanted me to join in....and I am like, I dont know these songs.
I was listening to Nirvana and Pearl Jam at that time.
Throw in some Cranberries, No Doubt, Crash Test Dummies.

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2352 comments I guess my taste in music is pretty tame. I was a Westlife fan. I went through a phase and liked Blue too. What can I say, pretty men and all that! Is Michael Learns to Rock included in the a bit loud list? If so, I kinda like their music too!

message 1318: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13731 comments Mod
Ah yes, the good old Nirvana songs! They weren't all good, but some were brilliant enough to be put on a loop hehe.

Lol, yes!! Blue! I only started listening to them because my best friend kept listening to them coooonstantly, and suddenly I liked them, too. I even have their first album. Same with O-Town. But then I got bored with them really quickly.

Michael Learns to Rock? I have no clue who that is! Enlighten me, please :-)

But honestly Abbie, are you telling me that you do NOT know the lyrics to this N'Sync song?? I'm shocked haha.

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5104 comments Okay you all need to read this YA book You Know Me Well.......Sniff

message 1321: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13731 comments Mod
The romantic kind of sniff? Or the dramatic/tragic kind?

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2352 comments I'm not sure which one's more popular but check this out or this.

message 1323: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5104 comments Romantic heartbreaking sniff, it's a coming of age m/m

message 1324: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13731 comments Mod
V, that intrigues me hehe. And I wanted to stay away from YA for a while (apart from Ari and Dante, which I'm going to read next month).

Btw, don't forget about my blind date ;-)

Kathleen, those are not half bad, but I'm not sure it's a band I'd listen to on a regular basis or for more than a couple of songs. The voice is a little too mellow for me despite being nice.

message 1325: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9630 comments Man, you are making me feel old!
I was just right age to start listening to them when NKOTB fell apart. At least Take That was there to fill in the void :)
By the time all of those above mentioned boy bands started to exist, I grew out of boy band phase (thankfully)

message 1326: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5104 comments I was a Prince fan from about 14 years old, I was really obsessively into him haha, I literally bought everything he ever did.

Later on I was into a lot of Brit Pop that was my era, like Pulp, Blur, Oasis, Stone Roses and the Madchester bunch........ahh I feel old!!

message 1327: by Kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited Jun 25, 2016 07:08AM) (new)

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2352 comments I think I know what you mean Tea. When my nieces and nephews start enumerating popular songs/singers of this generation I just give them this blank look most of the time. I do know who Justin Bieber and 1D is so I think I rack up some points with them.

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5104 comments Totally hooking you up with this book E lol

message 1329: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13731 comments Mod
Take That was at the beginning of my music career, so to speak, but they were never really my kind of band. Ronan Keating had a few good songs but in general, I think I was too young to properly appreciate them when they broke up.

Just put an umbrella over the grill ;-)

Wow, productive morning indeed, ST! Moorning :-)

I feel like I missed doing something for tonight but the place is clean (I wanted to mop as well but it's so wet and humid these days, that I'm not sure it's a good idea to add more humidity haha, it wouldn't dry..) And food is prepared. Hmm...

message 1350: by Snowtulip (new)

Snowtulip | 4679 comments I didn't really listen to the boy bands, but there are a handful of songs from them that I do like.

I was more into The Cure, INXS, Metallica back in my early days :) Still listen to them now...
