Ghost in the Stacks I put a hold on for Angela's ashes...just in case I get it, Frank McCourt died in 2009.

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments That's a movie that I've always wanted to see but never got rou do to it.

message 703: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2383 comments Here's what I can read for: E3, F4 (but it's short-ish); E5; F6; E7; F10

The book I'm definitely starting with works for E3 or F6.

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments I was wondering if I needed to research some dead authors. I looked up a few thinking they were - but nope, they're still breathing.

How dare they!!

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments I'm not really finding anything big for science fiction. I did look at Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1) by Leigh Bardugo it's only worth 4 points. I'll keep looking.

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments Jessica can maybe use 6 pointer for points.

I'll wait to see if V, and KT pick up Fallocaust. It's worth 9 points.

Oh, it was hard. I did it at the library, my neighbor was probably wondering why I was only googling dead people.
Took me a long time to find that little Gem.

Jessica | 296 comments If anyone likes Kurt Vonnegut, he died 04.11.2007. However, the page count is pretty low on his books.

I am going to start on Illuminae tomorrow and go from there :)

If you could start with an F6, that'd be great! I'm sure someone else will read a book for it, too. That way we'll have two books for the task.

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments Right I'm finishing up mine E

Anything you want me to start on in particular as all spaces seem to be covered?
Shall I start on some misses to get some points until the hit spaces are ready for bonus books?

Abbie wrote: "So a few questions...

*Can we bank books? If I read say, Sally Buys An Elephant, which doesn't work for a task now, can we save it for another task later on?"

Yes, we can.

"All books read during battleship can be used for tasks (it doesn't matter if book is read before team got task it fits)."

Also, we have two weeks to finish the books. The Battleship challenge goes on for two weeks.

I thought you were reading for the YA task?
If you want to take another one, then you can choose betweeeeeen.... let me check... anything really haha.

You could do an F6 task along with LaurLa so our 2 books are covered.
You could stick to the E1 and to the YA.
Or you can pick up a book for any of the other tasks where there's not to people reading already.

In the end, all we need to make sure is that we have 2 books read per square. So you are free to choose whatever you want :-)

IMPORTANT NOTICE

We need to finish reading the two books required to claim points for a task before we can start reading (or finishing) bonus books for the hits.
So for example: if V and K are reading the first two books for a hit task and Tamika wants to read a bonus book for that task, Tamika has to wait to finish her book until both V and K have finished their books. Tamika can already start her book while V and K are reading, but she cannot finish it as the finish dates are what counts.

(There will be no bonus books for misses.)

Please, please don't feel pressured though. If you're a slower reader or your book is taking you ages to finish for whatever reason, and you're reading one of those first two books, there is absolutely no need to stress. There will be more tasks coming as soon as Monday for the speed readers to pounce on.

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments In and out of sleep right now.

My science fiction book might be small I'm stature. No more then 400 pages.

I also can do a few of the misses top make up for the less number of points.

For the Ireland names. I have Absinthe of Malice (Sinners, #5) by Rhys Ford . It covers the name Rhys.

F6- Who We Are (Bear, Otter, and the Kid, #2) by T.J. Klune
F10- The Art of Breathing (Bear, Otter, and the Kid, #3) by T.J. Klune

message 717: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13730 comments Mod
No worries if it's less than 400 pages, T! It's a hit, so we can stock up on bonus books and get some extra points that way.

And you have free reign over which miss tasks you want to read for! Not much has been claimed for those yet, so... :-)

That green cover looks very eye-catching!

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments Oh my goodness, I forgot I just got an entire box of the In Death Series in Hardcover, my mother in law found them at a Rummage sale.

Only have about 8 of them but they are science fiction tagged.

Going to go with Treachery in Death

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments Going to bed!!!

Oooh awesome!
Gotta love it when you find deals like that! :-)

But yes, I forgot that the In Death series is tagged sci-fi... That might finally be the incentive I need to read the first one. It's fairly short, but it's a bonus book.
Or I might go with Visions of Heat, hmm.....

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments I'd go with the In Death. Visions of heart bored me really. But that's just me.

Sounds like a nice plan! :-)
Don't get the book wet!! ;-)

I didn't bring anything new into work with me today, on purpose, so that I can finish up Stars & Stripes and The Little Shop of Hopes and Dreams. Might not get the latter done today but that's alright.
And then tomorrow... I cannot wait for Rhysand!!! :-D

Happy Reading Ladies!
I think we shall all be envious of Jessica the rest of the day!

Throwing that link into the "useful links" part on the first page of this thread so you can easily find it again.

Hmm, maybe one of the resident librarians can fix that for you. I'll post in the Captain's group - I think a couple, if not all of the mods are librarians.

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments I just started Fallout by Ellen Hopkins for F10 (third in series) - although it's also tagged as YA if we need it but think it's covered. 720 pgs

Tamika, large print editions cannot be used. We'll have to use the default edition for the page numbers. Can you shelve that one then please when you're finished? Should be the 375 page hardcover edition.
Thanks!
