Preferably yes, as they give the most points.

I have
which is over 1000 pages. Fantasy. For Carnie these books were taking me about 3 days (if it's a weekend).
I have in waiting:
635 pagesFantasy and SF
382 pagesAll 3 hits
324 pagesAll 3 hits
599 pagesAll 3 hits
I can finish the two larger books and one of the shorter books within the week. What do you guys think? Fantasy/SF/YA are all my top genres :) SO EXCITING!!!

Want to start Pucked on Sat instead?"
Saturday works for me! :-) And it works for none of our current tasks haha :-p Might work for one though that we'll get on Monday.
Are you still up for reading
as well?

Those are good choices, but not worth alot of points.

That seems good.
These are the tasks we really want to read books for:
E1 - HIT - read a book shelved as young adult by at least 10 people
E3 - HIT - read a book shelved as fantasy by at least 10 people
F8 - HIT - read a book shelved as science fiction by at least 10 people
Remember: You can only read once for a task. But we can read up to 10 books for one of those tasks as a team.

Either this weekend or next - if you want to read the GoT for this round? We'll get new tasks on Monday and on Friday (and Thursday is a bank holiday for me).

We read 2 books per task - always different people.
Then we can read another 8 bonus books for those tasks, but it has to be different people every time.
So in short: every team member can only ever read one book per task. The team as a whole can read 10 books per hit.

I have a scifi book that is over 1000 pages that is kindle lendable if someone was interested in reading it...but must tell you ahead of time that I started to read it a while back and stopped (just wasn't working for me). But it's available if someone wants to take a stab :)
The Last Hour of Gann
So... in theory which is more points?Reading 3 books for 1000 pages each
Or
Reading 10 books for 300 pages each?
I should probably know this but me & phone app don't always get along...

I am confused. Wouldn't reading 2 600 page books garner more points and get more hits on ships than reading a 1200 page book?

Wouldn't it be the same? There doesn't seem to be an incentive present to reading larger books. Right? I might have read it all wrong... probably. LOL!
Haha! I want to be on my 'puter! I was just trying to figure out how many tasks I should try to cover and maximize page counts. I think Jessica's question is along the same lines so if hers makes more sense.. :)
I have a rare gift of being able to complicate anything.
For the points:
The first two books for a hit task gives you 5 points + whatever points you get for the page numbers.
After that, each additional book read will give 1 point + the points for page numbers.
So in the end, it comes down to how many books we can read, not necessarily how large they are.
The questions you guys asked, don't take into account the points for bonus/task, because:
3 books of 1000 pages each = 30 points
10 books of 300 pages each = 30 points
Now, I am totally not a maths person, but from what I (try to) understand, it would be good to read large books for the first 2 tasks of the hit squares as those first 2 tasks will give 5 points each. After that, read what you want and can manage to read. The larger the better as more page numbers give more points, but read whatever suits you best.

Trust me... I tend to suffer from the same thing. My therapist loves it.... seriously...

Okay got it now, good job I'm not a Co Captain or anything......Phew!!
2 X 600 = 12 points for pages + 2 points for bonus (because 2 books)
1 x 1200 = 10 points for pages + 1 point for bonus (because 1 book)
That's the gist of it.
Or:
3 X 1000 = 30 points + 1 for bonus
10 X 3 = 30 points + 10 for bonus
(in theory, as we can only read maximum 8 bonus books for a hit task)
1 x 1200 = 10 points for pages + 1 point for bonus (because 1 book)

Gotcha! I thought that anything >1000 is just 10 points (no matter how many over 1000 it is).
I get it now :)
Haha! V! Me either!!!Ok - so covering as many tasks as possible is important with the biggest page counts. So if I wanted to try to cover all 10 categories, it sounds like it would be a good goal - even if they are 400-600 pages...
I could probably provide lots of entertainment value to a lucky therapist myself! Ha!

Lets start
this weekend, because I just looked to see when it expires from library and its in 6 days :(I can request a BR thread...
Okay so should I just pick a genre from one of our hits to read or should I pick a task? Or does it matter? lol I need guidance.
Sorry if this is a silly question: Would we just pick a book we can read or will you let us know which spot we should do?
Alexandria and Karen,
I'm a firm believer in "read what you want".
If you prefer to pick a task and the hunt for a book that fits, or if you'd rather try to fit a book you really want to read to one of the tasks we have, that is really up to you.
All books will count in one way or another if they can be fit to any of the 10 current tasks, so really - choose whichever task and book you like.

Hmm... I think I have books that fit all but: F2-Dead Author, F8-Science Fiction, E9-Mainland England. (I'd still need to find books for those...)

Mainland Europe ;-)
Mainland Europe ;-)
There is one more thing we need to pay attention to:
"To collect any and all points for specific square team needs to read 2 books for it."
So whichever tasks we choose to do, we have to make sure that at least 2 people read for them. If we don't have 2 books per square (i.e. task), then we won't get any points at all for that square.
From the list as it is now, that doesn't seem to be a problem. We have more than one options for most of those tasks, so far.
