Eldarwen wrote: "Hmm... alternative universe...Would a world where vampires etc are out to the public count as alternative universe?!"
Your guess is as good as mine on that... I'll need to go google... I was wondering about the In Death series too since it's all futuristic
I'm considering Harry Potter 6 - just not sure which of the two magic tasks it would better fit.
There's items that can be used to gain powers/enhance powers, and there's different classes as well, muggles, wizards, death eaters....
Or maybe I should just go for it and we'll use it for whatever spot somebody else didn't find something?

Good, will do! I'm going to mostly listen to that one, so I can do that while I'm busying myself around the flat, etc.

Yess!!! Though I have to admit that I retain less when I'm listening to audio. When I read, I remember the story for much longer than when I listen.
But since this is a reread, it's just fine :-)

Do you want me to add you to the other magical task then, V?

Hi Tea! Well, we were using the definition below and applied the futuristic aspects as the "what-if"s to the otherwise same universe.
-----------------
A parallel universe would be a completely separate universe, possibly containing similar characters or facts, but definitively a separate entity. An alternative universe would likely take place in the same universe, but with altered facts (i.e. "what-if" scenarios).
Should we be looking at it differently?
If you think you can justify it, it's fine.I'm just trying to figure out why would book set in future be alternative universe. Alternative to what? Who knows, we might have flying cars and we might have conquered and inhabited half of universe in 20 years *grins*
Tea, if we really were to have flying cars and all that jazz in the future, we'd already have them! Did you learn nothing from Back to the Future and the sadness of none of that having come true?? ;-)
Then again... The Fifth Element gives us another 3 centuries to come up with flying cars, so maaaaaaybe... hehe

I'm alternating watching Rizzoli & Isles with reading a few pages, but I'm almost done with my book and then I'm diving into HP6. The audio is almost 21 hours, so... it'll take me a bit. Especially since tomorrow is Father's Day here, which I completeeeely forgot o.O Thought it was next weekend. Anyway, basically that means that I won't be done until Tuesday or Wednesday.
If someone else has a quicker option - feel free to snag the spot!

It's not like one on Back to the Future, but it's here (and it doesn't really hover) :P
You just ruined my image of little Roarke running around Dublin causing havoc as we speak :(

What??? I already had the toilet brush packed.
...sorry ladies, I haven't gotten very far on Blood and Snow yet. My husband decided I needed to spend some time with him, so he made me go on a 4 mile walk with him....no Kindle allowed...I will try, but Not to sure yet, as that walk made me sleepy.
The walk sounds excellent! No worries. For that relay, I've just started one of my two and the next one is the longer one. It will take me all of tomorrow and maybe not finish until Monday. Tomorrow we have lots of kid and family stuff going on.
Since I can't access the spreadsheet, am I signed up for any books?Wasn't sure if the self pub book I threw out was accepted or not.
Hey ladies, checking in. I'm just getting home. I am going to finish this book that I'm 75% into and dive back into my hf. I'll have it done tomorrow at the latest.I'll look at what is needed to see if I can find anything.

Yes, that was accepted! :-)
"Pictures of You" - we got a nice build off of that one all of a sudden, so go right ahead!
Also, awesome with the metal task! Those are always a little trickier.

Also, I'm switching my magic book from Harry Potter 6 to Anita Blake 4. There are several classes of magic in that one as well: vamp magic, werewolf/pack magic, animator/necromancy magic, and maybe something else I forgot about.
I can also read the next book in the series, The Bronze Key if no one else has another metal book :)
