Sorry if you've replied to something similar lately, must have missed. :-/

~~Poulomi Sylphrena Tonk$~~ | 873 comments Okay thanks, Manju!

Hey Jaya! :)
Here's my shelf: Next-to-read shelf

My recommendations for you:
1. The Shining- If you like horror-suspense, this is a wonderful read.

2.The Shadow of the Wind- This one is on my tbr, so not sure. But some of my very close friends on GR have highly recommended it.

3. The Well of Ascension- Looking into your tbr, it seems like you have a thing for fantasy, and in that, Sanderson seldom disappoints. Plus, Mistborn is a common favorite.

I hope you like the choices. 2 of them I didn't read, but have usually heard positive things about them. :)

Happy Reading!

Thanks for the selections, Jaya. I was secretly hoping you select Tranquility. *romanceaholic mode*

I sort of did an inky pinky ponky thing and The Shining got chosen :P so il start with that one :)

~~Poulomi Sylphrena Tonk$~~ | 873 comments Jaya: Do tell me how you liked The Shining. And read it at night for the perfect feel. :P

Will read both Ackroyd and Tranquility. High hopes with both.

It'll be fine as Suyash is not responsive right now and I also found some other books to read at priority basis which I don't find in his TBR list. Also, a girl here threatens me to break my nose off by throwing a coconut at me if I won't start reading with her soon. (A doctor with hostile behaviour. :P) I also have a draft of a friend to read. So, if its possible I would like to withdraw my name and plea to buddy up Suyash with someone else.

I am pairing you with Suyash Gupta. His tbr is tbr

message 275: by Suyash (new)

Suyash Gupta | 7 comments Hey Hemant,
I went through you to- read list, and these are the books I have picked for you :-
1. The thousand splendid suns- It's a heart- wrenching tale of two women whose life cross by fate and is about, how they overcome the dangers escalating around them. I have read it twice. There is nothing contrived or trite about this book; absolute piece of brilliance. An essential read!

2. The palace of illusion- It's a retelling of the Mahabharata from Draupadi's perspective. It's a very captivating tale, which is both ecstatic and pensive at times, and was able to hold my interest till the very end. The writing is so poetic and beguiling that you wouldn't be able to stop yourself until you finish the book.
You can read either of them or both, if you like.

I look forward to your pickings.

Sharadha Jayaraman (jayaras) | 1795 comments FINALLY done with Fahrenheit 451! *phew*

I hated it, saw no point in reading it and almost scanned through the last few pages because I was too close to finishing it to put it down as DNF (did not finish). Honestly, how did this even get a classic status? Not more than a glum 2 stars from me (glad to have it off my TBR)!
