I finished The Slow Regard of Silent Things and have reported it in our thread. It was a 5 star read for me. I really loved it.I will start on my second book tomorrow.
Goodnight everyone!
Goodnight, Lisa.I'm only half-way through Practical Magic. Feel like I should be further along, but I didn't really buckle down to reading until I got home this afternoon.
Funny thing is, 62 pages in I realized I recognized the story. I have seen the movie! It was great. Funny how our memories are. It never occurred to me until a crucial plot-twist in the book.
Good night Lisa...It's 1.53 am here, so I'm off to read my bedtime chapter of An Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington
85% done with Skellig - should finish it tomorrow morning.
Good Morning! Wow, Annerlee and Lisa, you are really racing ahead with your books! I'm halfway through mine and will hopefully finish it today...
A few books have been toppled already and we have a couple more that are nearly finished. Great effort so far everyone!
Alexandra wrote: "Good Morning! Wow, Annerlee and Lisa, you are really racing ahead with your books!"Thanks, Alexandra. My first book was a really quick, easy read :)
Good morning! I also finished my first book, So You Don't Get Lost in the Neighbourhood. The next one will probably be a fantasy or a SF book.
Morning everyone! Still need my coffee!Finished Practical Magic last night. Will start on The Slow Regard of Silent Things (Alan Rickman, fantasy) next.
Did you enjoy Practical Magic, Debra? I really like the film but am not sure whether to pick up the book or not.
I really enjoyed it, Lisa. The movie follows the book pretty well, from what I remember. I gave it 4 stars. I'm going to read more by Alice Hoffman.
I entered a walking challenge at work to walk at least a mile every day for 21 days. I did it! Over 50 miles in that time-frame. And I don't plan on stopping. So this morning, hubby and I are going to a metro park to walk around the lake and commune with all the critters, and feed them. That's 2 miles. I'll read on the drive there and back. Keep at it team! We're doing great!

Good going Alexandra!
I started with a short one too - finished Skellig this morning along with an audiobook A Murder Is Announced....
Next auiobook is The War of the Worlds. I love audiobooks because I can listen whilst doing other things..

Debra wrote: "I really enjoyed it, Lisa. The movie follows the book pretty well, from what I remember. I gave it 4 stars. I'm going to read more by Alice Hoffman."In that case, I think I will add it to my TBR :)
Good morning all,Hey, what am I - chopped liver? lol! I finished a book too :-)
I'm starting my 2nd
book, The Language of Flowers .
Reading from here on will be in tighter, smaller time frames as I have work ll week, the AGM for work tomorrow night, eldest son's birthday celebration today, and planning for youngest son's birthday party next weekend. (I tend to celebrate my boys birthdays large as it is a miracle that both of them are still alive; they're have been close calls to the other side in their lives recently).
Debra, awesome on your walking feat (feet)!
I have just finished Of Love and Other Demons. This was my first book by Gabriel García Márquez and I really enjoyed it. I think it was a good place to start with his work. I gave it 4 stars.I will start my third book later this evening.
Johan Cruyff - Read a book about sports or with a sports settingThe Seventh Richard Stark a.k.a. Donald E. Westlake
Yep, Westlake again! Didn't think I'd find a sports related one, did you? Parker and crew steal the box office receipts while the football game is in progress.

Thumbs up, for good use of time!
You're gonna be sore! Congratulations on meeting your walking goal.☺

Thanks. I' m planning to get at least 3 books read for this toppler, especially since I have a free Friday this week (Midsummer is a holiday in Sweden). So I should have more time for reading towards the end of the week.
I see we're off to a great start as a team, congrats Lisa and Annerlee for finishing 2 books already!
I've finished my first book: Beijing Doll. I still don't quite know what to think of it - starting with it being rather an autobiography than a novel. But it gave some interesting insights into the live of a Teenager growing up in China. Oh well... Moving on to my second book - but not before tomorrow morning. I still Need to decide what I'll read anyway...
Good night everyone :-)

Goodnight Alexandra.
Thanks for the kudos regarding my walking. Today, I had a bit of adventure. My hubby and I went for a 2-mile walk around the lake at a metro park we go to. When we were almost done, I realized I'd lost my phone somewhere on the trail. So we backtracked the whole trail, with my hubby constantly calling my phone. And wonders of wonders, someone had our phone and turned it into the office. Didn't fancy the fast, furious, fretful walk around the lake a second time, but was relieved to get my phone back. Now to finish the book I started!
Good job, those of you who've finished one or more books. Go team!

I have started The Yellow Birds. I haven't gotten very far with it yet but will hopefully make some headway tomorrow.I think we have toppled 16 books so far! Way to go everyone!
Goodnight to you all.
Me too, Lisa! Finished The Slow Regard of Silent Things.
Starting The Innocence of Father Brown for Pat Harrington Jr and Ken Howard, cozy mystery.
Sorry I have not checked in yet today. I just posted in the other thread that I finished my 2nd book. Granddaughter has friend over and we've been running around. I read in the car while they shopped.Out to mow the front lawn.
Did you want us to post all our finished books in one post or does it matter?
My iPod is dying and I need to get it on the charger. Back later to catch up.

I think it's great that the person who found your phone turned it in. And you logged those extra miles!
I've watched the Father Brown mystery series and have wondered about the books. You'll have to let me know what you think of the book.
It was a miracle, jaxnsmom! I walked about 5.5 miles today, and boy am I sore! The Father Brown mystery series are actually short stories in which he solves each crime. I've seen the series on TV and quite like it. The written stories are interesting. I like Father Brown's character. I tend to like my stories more thrilling, however. Almeta's the cozy mystery fan.
Good Morning! It's the first day in almost two weeks that it's not raining and I've decided to start 'The Alchemist ' for my second toppler book (not too sure what that actually has to do with the weather though) I'm glad you got your phone back, Debra! There are still nice people out there. And 5.5 miles is a lot of walking! I'm aiming for 10.000 steps each day and that is already quite difficult to achieve (at least for me
Morning team!!I finished The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra late last night (much too late to post then).
The knock-on effect was that I overslept this morning and missed the bus, so had to hitch a lift in the rain... (Note to Alexandra - first time it's rained here in 2 weeks) Bus service isn't great in the countryside
Luckily the local councillor took pity on me and gave me a lift to the office (via the dump, as he was towing a trailer full of garden waste).
The dump wasn't too smellly.. it was raining... and I got to read in the car for 10 mins whilst he was clearing out the rubbish..
Anyway, I arrived at work on time. I have some routine stuff to do this morning, so I'm hoping to listen to some audiobook in the background (The War of the Worlds is 25% done )
Cherie wrote: "...Did you want us to post all our finished books in one post or does it matter?..."It is easier to be aware of a recent read if it is posted in a new message. That way, I should get an email and also notice entries below the last badge issued.
I should have mentioned this in the beginning. Excellent question!
Almeta: Just a couple of questionsIn the first post of the reporting thread... The team Florets and our Top Banana tributes:
Is each banana / flower symbol a book read?
Will you be adding my name to the list, or have you just not got around to me yet?
(Cathie isn't there either)
Sorry if I'm jumping the gun or have misunderstood something
Annerlee wrote: "...The knock-on effect was that I overslept this morning and missed the bus, so had to hitch a lift in the rain....."lol! You've had an adventurous morning!

Sure have... and I arrived earlier than normal!
All of you are doing so good this toppler. My first read is completed.
Patty Duke - Read a book with a character dealing with a mental health issue.
I read The Unfinished Garden in which the main character deals with OCD
Morning everyone! Actually it's almost the afternoon but my internet was playing up earlier so I couldn't get on here. It's horrible weather here today, cold and wet. Perfect weather for reading though :)

You have had quite the day so far, Annerlee!
I have put The Yellow Birds to one side. I wasn't enjoying it and I think that's because I was trying to read it too quickly and it's one of those books that requires full concentration in order to get the most out of it. I think I will enjoy it more if I read it outside the toppler. I am going to move on and start The Queen's Man - Umberto Eco - Read a book set during the Middle Ages.
Lisa wrote: "I have put The Yellow Birds to one side. I wasn't enjoying it and I think that's because I was trying to read it too quickly .."I have a few like that too...

Me too...
I've just finished The Alchemist, what a great book. Moving on to Le Montespan. I never thought that I would be able to read more than two books for this toppler.
Didn't know The Alchemist was such a short book. I have had it on my TBR for a while. Both copies are checked out at my library. But, they might be returned in time for me to read it for the toppler. Glad you liked it Alexandra.Houdini Heart is very well-written. One for deeper thinking, not for fast reading. That's the only thing bad about it. I wanted to knock it out fast, but that's just not happening.
I am really enjoying The Queen's Man so far. Only thing is, it's a bit longer than I thought it was. I thought it was 200 pages but it's actually 291. Clearly I can't read, which could be a problem for this toppler! Lol.Great effort again today team!
Goodnight.
