message 755: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda when I'm not reading a cozy, I still read fiction. No nonfiction for me. I have to hear testimony and that is nonfiction and always dismal.

message 756: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Nonfiction doesn't have to be dismal. Mary Roach writes science nonfiction that is hysterical. I laughed all the way through Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I like some non-fiction, especially pop culture bios!

message 759: by Beverly (new)

Beverly (bjbixlerhotmailcom) | 2332 comments For non-fiction, I like books about animals, birds and mammals primarily; traditional folklore and fairy tales (which in libraries is cataloged in a non-fiction number); sometimes political books; and books about Christianity, especially books about creation versus evolution. How-to books are useful when I want to learn about something, like computers or some kind of craft. I am not much of a fan of history books.

MadameZelda I got into a challenge and found myself with Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble (Jolie Wilkins, #1) by H.P. Mallory and then Toil and Trouble (Jolie Wilkins, #2) by H.P. Mallory which I am in the middle of reading. Now that the challenge is over, I think I'm going to continue the rest of the series to see how it all ends.

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 1887 comments Currently reading Duke of Desire and not enjoying it very much. I'm done with this series - I should have stopped with Alf's story...

message 767: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Taylor-French | 8 comments I've been reading a novel, "The Little Book." Not sure what I think about it. At times, I am grumpy about the wagging back and forth into characters' stories. The main story character becomes different ages, ends up in different periods of history and other countries. Although the characters connect through family ties, the time travel (such as it is at more than halfway) has become annoying due to zero information about why or how it happens.

Trying to hang in there and finish this book now.

Love these! Think the JD Robb books were some of the first 'light' mysteries I started reading.

Teresa | 88 comments I finally finished Hawaii by James A. Michener and enjoyed it. It isn't my favorite Michener book but it was good. Now I'm reading Blue Gold by Clive Cussler. I just haven't been in a cozy mood lately.

I read that many years ago, it seems. I did love it though I must admit. What a blast from the past! I wonder if I could even find my old copy...

Started When Books Went to War: The Stories that Helped Us Win World War II by Molly Guptill Manning last night. This isn't the book I planned to read for my "book about books," but so far the intro and first chapter have been interesting.

message 798: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda I need a man with facial hair as a bookcover to do a challenge. I could only think of my sister's erotica books. So I am reading Mr. CEO by Lauren Landish , Mr. CEO by Lauren Landish.

It's probably cheesy.
