In honor of this year's Summer Olympics host country: Read a book by an author born in South America.
20.2 The Gods!
"The Olympics were of fundamental religious importance, featuring sporting events alongside ritual sacrifices honoring both Zeus (whose famous statue by Phidias stood in his temple at Olympia) and Pelops, divine hero and mythical king of Olympia."
Read a book about the ancient Greek or Roman gods or ancient mythological figures, ie minotaur, etc.
20.3 Winners!
Read a book which won an award in a year in which the Summer Olympics were held. Any award will work for this task, but the award must be listed on the GoodReads book page at time of posting.
20.4 Go for the Gold!
The top three gold producing countries in the world are China, Australia, and Russia. Read a book that takes place entirely in one of these countries.
20.5 London calling
London has hosted the games three times (1908, 1948, 2012) - the most of any city - read one of the top 125 books from the list London Calling.
20.6 War
Due to war, the Olympics were cancelled in 1916, and again in both 1940 and 1944. Read one of the top 75 books on the list World War One Literature or one of the top 150 books on the list World War II Fiction.
20.7 U.S. (Rebekah's Task)
Read a book whose author has initials that exactly match US State Abbreviations. We will be including DC for Washington, D.C, but not the US territories. Authors who use more than 2 names in their published work will not work for this task.

For example Anne Rice would work for AR (Arkansas), Mark Twain for MT (Montana), David Eddings for DE (Delaware), Sandra Dallas for SD (South Dakota) or Paul Auster for PA(Pennsylvania).
20.8 Kotick (Amanda's Task)
In my other life there are a large number of people who know me as Kotick, and I know quite a number of Baloos and Bagheeras. We're all Cub Scout leaders and our names are all taken from Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book .
Kipling was born in India at the time of the British Raj. In honour of this time read a book from this Books about the British Raj List, or in answer to the Colonial fathers read one of the Indo-Anglian authors mentioned in this article.
20.9 Political (Kate S's Task)

20.10 Meta fiction (Elizabeth (Alaska)'s Task)
